Have been getting my vehicles serviced here since purchasing my first Outback in 2020. I have 2 Outbacks that are both serviced at Sonora Subaru. Over the years I have had some issues, mainly with my 2019 outback - but the staff is always attentive and makes the effort to get any issues resolved ASAP. I have been taking my 2024 Outback here since we purchased. They have recently relocated to the Sonora Subaru Dealership on Mono Way. It is really nice to have it all as a one stop shop. Their new service area has drive in drop off which was really nice on my last service as it was raining. They also offer a shuttle service while your vehicle is getting serviced if you need it. My advisor Vince is great and has always been super helpful and attentive. Their shuttle driver Orville is also great, he reminds me of my great grandfather and I really enjoy conversing with him on my shuttle ride to work. read more

I've been bringing my Subaru here for a decade now, and staffs are friendly and their service has been pretty good, until last time I brought my car in. I was at Sonora Subaru for an oil change, and noted that there is a really loud squeal noise when starting up my car and resistance when turning the wheel, so I asked to take a look at it as I was concerned and I'm taking a road trip. I got my car back with just an oil change and they couldn't take a look at my noise as they are so busy and schedules are all backed up. A few days later, I'm on the road and the loud noise and handling of the steering wheel is so bad that we brought the car in at a different Subaru dealer nearby. They found out that my serpentine belt was shredded. I was close to damaging my car, not to mention I could haven been in an accident on the road! Glad that Other Subaru dealer was able to squeeze us in to fix the issue. I've been a royal customer at Sonora Subaru but after this incident, I'm very disappointed that Sonora Subaru would send me away with an unsafe car, even though I express my concern on the noise and steering. read more

I just realized I wrote a glowing review for here in July 2023 but accidentally posted it to the wrong place - the sales division. Essentially it said: I always look forward to going here. The people are friendly and very helpful, like Kevin Carames, senior advisor. Rick, the Service Manager and lately shuttle driver, is gracious in helping out wherever he can. He's fun to chat with, and I discovered knows all kinds of local information. I appreciate Subaru offering this service so one can drop off their vehicle but not have to stay there all day, should it need extensive work. And my favorite technicians, Kevin and Brad, are as fantastic as ever. I love that they genuinely enjoy what they do and are very good at it. I leave each time feeling taken care of and having peace of mind. Today was the big one, my 120,000 mile Subaru Forester being inspected and serviced inside and out for a big refresh. Up at the front one is greeted by Vince Bergland, Caitlynn Ball and Kylie Auld who are consistently cheerful and on top of things, getting you in and out as expediently as possible. They connect well personally, with attentiveness and warmth and ready to answer all questions so you leave with peace of mind. read more

I started going here because I found Modesto Subaru wasn't airing up my tires like they should have. On my first visit here, I was impressed with the value for money, the oil change and rotation was far less than Modesto. My last visit in early May was interesting, they completed my oil change with no rotation (I prefer America's Tire handle that). When they were finished, I got the dreaded list of big money things that needed to be done that added up to $1700. These things included replacing control arm bushings and rear brake pads that they claimed were at 3mm. I declined, and I'm glad that I did. Months later I looked at my gold extended warranty which unbeknownst to me covered such things. Modesto Subaru confirmed this and recently performed the job under warranty. I had the brake pads checked at a local shop with an excellent reputation and found that they were measuring nearly 7mm. (Modesto measured them at 4mm less than a week later, must be a dealership thing.) Go here for the basics, but be careful with the recommendations. read more

I was having issues with my Outback headlights not working on one side so I called late in the day for an appointment. They got me in early the next morning and a service writer named Vincent provided me a written estimate and their shuttle driver gave me with a ride home. A couple of hours later he called and said the repairs had been completed and that the final cost was going to be far less than what they initially estimated. Seriously? They could have easily charged me more and I would never have known any different. They also found a brake light that wasn't working but he called me first for an authorization to replace a bulb before performing the work. Along with my final invoice he also gave me photos as proof of two maintenance issues that need to be addressed which I will obviously schedule. After taking car of my bill Vincent walked me out to my car, removed a large sheet of protective plastic wrap from the drivers seat (not just a paper mat on the floor) and walked me through the repairs that had been made. Vincent was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I also appreciated the door-to -door shuttle service in a new Subaru:) I will definitely be using the Sonora Subaru service department again. read more

WILL NOT USE THEM AGAIN !! I've been a customer for several years now, from transmission replacement to minor repair, and spending several thousands of dollars. The service writers and mechanics have always been courteous and provided quality work. I am BLOWN AWAY by the fact that it was MANAGEMENT that ran me off as a loyal customer. Their intrusive manner of pushing the "up sell" after doing busines borderlines harassment. Even after warning them of their behavior they continued to text and call. POS MANAGEMENT should stay out of mechanic/customer relationship...they just poison the water. read more

I'm sorry to say that this is the 2nd sad experience I've had with the service department the 1st time I took my Daughter's Honda Civic for body work that took several days 4-5 but when I went to pick up her car & I was very shocked to find it was very dirty from sitting at the lot but the inside was also dirty ? The drivers seat was adjusted all the way back the mat was dirty & the radio was blaring And just recently I to my Subaru to be serviced because of all the Recalls And the same problems dirty outside & inside with seats pushed back and no paper mat covers We have Toyota trucks & there service Dep. In Stockton always washes your vehicles & vacuums inside before they return your vehicles It's so disappointing to pickup your vehicle looking worse than when you dropped it off read more

Wed 9/25/19 I called, about half hr prior to closing trying to get new tires for my Crosstrek. Talked with service representative, he had me talk with parts guy to ensure tires in stock. Parts guy said yes, to arrange with service man to have them installed next day. Service guy said to just come in, I said I'd prefer appointment was given 1:30. Thurs 9/26 arrived for appointment. Service man said he couldn't fit me in, to come in tomorrow. Friday 9/27 arrived, and found new people. Had to explain several times why zi was there. Was led to believe they were replacing the tires. 2 1/2 hrs later was told by service man they only had 3 of the 4 tires I requested. Asking if a differing tire could be installed. I said no! Was not happy, drove 1 hr each way twice and still not served. This is the closest Subaru service place to my cabin in the sierra. I can't afford to go back. Theyve been dishonest and lacking integrity sorry can't see it any other way. read more

I had a terrible experience and I will do everything in my power to never return. I have had my car exclusively worked on by Sonora Subaru for all 6 years I have owned my car. I have never been impressed with the service, but because it had its power train warranty, I stuck around. I finally reached 100,000 miles so I never have to deal with Sonora Subaru ever again. I'll stick with just this visit, as to why I am unhappy. I called saying that I need my A/C recharged. I was told it would be $130 to run the vacuum test before refilling to make sure that there were no leaks in the system. -A little back story...my fan only works on speed 1-3. If you put it on speed 4, you have to take it all the way back to 0 before 1-3 will work. We have talked about that before and I was told it would be $130 to see why that is happening. I told them that I did not want to do that and that I'm ok with the way it is. - Fast forward to this visit... Mark was distracted while checking out my car so he didn't realize that the fan was that way. Supposedly they can not run the vacuum test unless speed 4 works, so instead of calling me and telling me that, they diagnosed why speed 4 wasn't working. They called to let me know that it would be $1400 to fix the fan speed 4 and told me that they did not run the test that I brought my car in for. I told them -again- that I do not want to fix that. They said ok and told me that I "just" owe the $130. I argued that the test that I asked for and approved was not performed and so I should not owe that money. I never approved them looking at the fan speeds. Mark was not helpful at all and said "well we diagnosed your problem so you owe for that". I tried working with him and told him that there was another issue with the horn and if they diagnosed that I would be happy to pay the $130. Mark just said no without even trying to work with me. I picked up my car, paid the $130, drove away and realized that now nothing works on my fan. So I paid $130 for them to give me my car back worse that when I left it. I have had soooo many bad experiences here and I can't help but think it is because I'm a female. I've been told I need new brakes then come back a few months later and magically they are perfectly fine. Same thing happened when they told me I needed a whole new engine because I had a cracked block. Somehow it has never come up again? I thought things had gotten better when you guys changed owners, but that was very short lived. The lady up front that takes payments is nice. read more

Always at least a 30 minute wait, regardless of whether or not you have an appointment. Had an appointment for a regular service. Waited with my infant for over an hour before they even put it on the rack. Then they said they were too busy to do all the services that THEY recommended, and that I'd have to make ANOTHER appointment. read more

3/12/19 Review of Sonora Subaru Service Department I am writing this review to share the good experiences that I have had with the Sonora Subaru service department. I have been taking my cars there since 2010. The professionals at Sonora Subaru service have always been honest and very friendly. They have often gone beyond the norms of what one would expect to extend extra helpful information and support with my automotive problems. I have had the good fortune of having Mark Dodd, one of their service specialists, help me with some very difficult situations with my 2010 Subaru Outback. It is not a stretch to say that without Mark's help my transportation situation would have deteriorated remarkably, and with Mark's help, I am now enjoying my revitalized 2010 Outback. I brought my car in to get an estimate for transmission repair. I also gave permission to perform a free multi-point inspection. After a while the service rep told me that the multi-point inspection had found that the engine air filter and the cabin air filter were dirty and needed to be replaced at a cost of $110. The thing is, I had just had those 2 filter replaced less than 3 weeks earlier, no way the filters could have gotten that dirty in less than 3 weeks. Shame on them, to me that's just plain thievery. read more

I was happy with the service I had in the past, but recently I have had false claims of parts needing replacement, and requested services dropped from my requested work order. I think I will have to complain to Subaru HQ and locate a less sketchy service department. It will be worth the drive to find a service department I can trust. read more

While on vacation, (miles and miles away from home), my check engine light suddenly came on along with the squiggly car light and my Cruise control stopped working . Feeling a little panicked I called the Subaru repair center and explained my situation . Who ever answered the phone was very polite and quickly gave me all the information I needed. They were able to fit me right in. When I got to the service center with my family, (3 kids , my husband, and a dog) the mechanic came right out and ran some test. With a little more investigating he found the problem and was able to fix it. They ran the test free of charge. And when he found the problem, he wasn't pushy what so ever . We were in and out very quickly and was able to enjoy the rest of the vacation . Thank you ! read more

Good svc and nice people work there, and seem honest with reasonable prices.

Had a small problem with my brakes, but needed it repaired ASAP. Called on Monday morning for immediate appointment & got one to fit my schedule. The work was completed in the expected time frame & I was on my way home for an important event. This is the second time that the service department took care of me in an expedient way and made the repairs in the time they allotted. That means a lot to me since most shops underestimate the waiting time and make it hard to plan your day. All 3 service writers(Mike, Angie & James) are efficient and friendly. I've worked 35 years in the repair business myself, and that is uncommon! I'm very happy to have found this dealership. They are outstanding. PS: Allen in parts is great also. read more

I took my car to Sonora Subaru service center by the fairgrounds. It has 28k miles on it so I asked what the service would be. The guy initially told me $770. When I told him that couldn't be right he looked at it and said "oh it doubled up on a couple things" then he said it would be $679. I told him that it still didn't sound right to me but I had to get to work. He made me sign the form saying that I acknowledge the bill would be $679. But when I got to work I started googling what should be done and that amount still didn't sound right so I called him and told him that and he said he would make sure they only did what Subaru recommends. When I went there at the end of the day the bill was still $650. I reluctantly paid the bill because I decided I was just going to go home and go through the bill very carefully with the Subaru service book which was in my car at the time. I found that they said they had done several inspections and services that weren't recommended by Subaru. I called and spoke to the manager(who said he'd only been there a week). He looked into it and he swears up and down that they didn't intentionally overcharge me but that they have two software systems that run in tandem that were both pulling charges. He refunded me $352.50. The charge should have only been $271.59. So my advice is if you take your car there know exactly what Subaru recommends and what needs to be done. They also drove my car 5 miles for a test drive which I think is excessive (he said normally it's only about 1 mile). read more
