Went in with a rattle that sounds like a loose caliper and got back with mismatched, loose and or missing body mount bushings and bolts., and 24 new lug nuts that continuously need tightened down again. Im really not happy with how Big O operates. I made an appointment just for getting tires installed nothing else no inspection, no alignment, no balancing, etc. I brought the tires with me myself. The appointment was at 11am I was 15 minutes early. It took them 2 hours to install my 4 tires. Ive never had to wait this long in my life. Doherty would have had me in and out in 30 minutes tops. Only reason I went here was my bank was offering cash back. On top of that it was super expensive 25$ per tire plus 22$ for them to dispose of the tires (there are places that dont charge). Oh plus they tried to sell me a bunch of stuff I didnt need to by at the moment basically Insisting my battery was dead. I know its old and pretty worn out but its given me zero problems so guess what, not gunna replace it yet. Also saying my rear brakes need replacing now, they only just started making sneaky noises so yeah ill wait on that. Oh and they broke a couple of my luggnuts so hey you want us to replace them for an extra 100$ uh yeah no thanks ill pass. Not gunna come back even if I get offer a cash back deal. If I could give 0 I would. I got an alignment done in May no other work has been done to the truck since then. I started noticing the alignment getting progressively worse. Well I finally looked under and found the jam nut and tie rod end were not even tight or touching. When they did the alignment they never tightened it. The tie rod end only had about 5 threads holding it. I drive to Stockton 4 days a week. This could have costed me my life. The traction control light was on when I picked up the truck that day also and they insisted it was on before it came in (it wasn't). They told me I had to go to Toyota to reset it. I ended up resetting it in my driveway. For context I've been a diesel mechanic for years and have worked in automotive. I am incredibly disgusted by this. I just want to thank Matt and Rob for my recent Big O service in Sonora. I took my car to a different Big O franchise on 11/6/2025 for a new battery and oil change. A few days later I noticed my car was leaking oil. That recent oil change resulted in me needing a new oil filter, another oil change, a new oil pan , and drain plug. I told her I doubted their diagnosis and she picked up the car and took it to Subaru. They replaced the battery under warranty. He kept everyone well informed of what's going on with their vehicles and offered advice and wasn't as bad as I thought he was the first time. So what happened in snore California is a tie rod end was left loose during a front end alignment causing damage to the threads of the tie rod end and excessive damage to a brand new Michelin tire they moved the tire in the back they tightened the damage tie rod end up and that was how they decided that was situations be handled my brand new tire is compromised with quarter inch high rubber and excessive wear on one side due to the loose tie rod end and the tire run in clearly has damaged threads in it it was brand new when it went in for the alignment now I don't feel safe with it if it did that much damage the tire the threads are clearly damaged I don't feel safe I would not go to the Big o tires and Sonora California that's the truth! I was told it would take 2 hours to do an oil change, rotate the tires, and their 21 point inspection. 3 hours later it was done.

While driving through Sonora, the light came on in my car, alerting me that the tire pressure was at 55psi, although it should be 32psi. As luck would have it, I spotted a Big O Tire store just down the block. I went in and asked if someone could help me. A young man was ready by the time I backed up to the door. He checked all the tires and called the manager "Levi" to come check them with a computer. He determined that it was a stem cap sensor. He took it for a test drive and had us back on the road in no time. Levi and the young man were so efficient, friendly and honest. He could have taken advantage of us and we would not be any the wiser. If I lived in that area, I would not hesitate using the service at Big O Tire. read more

I was visiting from the Bay Area and had a flat tire which needed replacing. The tires were less than a year old and under warranty. They did not have the same brand tire in stock, said it had been discontinued. They replaced the tire on my CRV AWD vehicle that was not the same type of tire as the other three, assuring me it was similar make, just different brand. It resulted in my brake system malfunctioning on my return to Bay Area. After many hours and dollars Honda discovered the issue. The Sonora Big O manager tried blaming it on the Ukiah Big O where the tires were originally purchased!!! Said they approved the tire. They are a tire place, why didn't they know you cannot put mismatched tires on an AWD. And yes, that was causing the braking system to malfunction! For the second time in a few years Big O tires took an order online.Then they installed a different tire on my vehicle than what I ordered. This happened, again, to me today at the 796 E. Mono Way store in Sonora. What I ordered online was 32" tires. What I found them installing was 31" tires on my Jeep. When I told them I ordered 32s they said, "Oh, they don't come in 32s". I was sure I hadn't made a mistake but I needed tires now so I told them to go ahead. When I got home I checked their website that I had ordered the tires through. It clearly showed the BFG TA KO2 tires as available and that is what I had ordered. So, I called Big O in Sonora and asked for the manager "Kelly". I pointed out that the Big O website, with their street address on it, clearly offered the 32" tire - and that's what I ordered". Kelly's response was, "My business has nothing to do with that website." What? I ordered the tires through the Big O website, with your business address at the top (see pic) and now your telling me "Your business has nothing to do with this website???". Between the Big O Tire website and the Big O Tire store in Sonora, one of them substituted the 31" tires for the 32" tires I ordered and never mentioned it or have me the opportunity to cancel the order. "Kelly" could not understand why I would get angry when he said his Big O Tire store had nothing to do with the Big O Tire website that I ordered the tires through. Or, that no one told me they didn't have the tires I ordered. They just waited for me to show up and proceeded to install the wrong tires. The whole scenario was just surreal. What is worse is that this exact same thing had happened to me before at a another Big O Tire store. Fool me once... Yes, I have learned my lesson with Big O Tire. Never again. read more

They charged me $100 more than the online quote, tried to sell me service that I didn't need and loosened the bolts on my front differential and told me it was leaking. How do I know this? I park my truck in the same exact spot every single day and there were no oil stains in my driveway (Until after the service was rendered, there is now). Sales rep came out took a look at the tires told us to pull the car up to one of the bays and then he walked away. We waited we waited some more No one working in the bays acknowledged us. Bought 4 tires about 3 years ago and recently had driving issues - car was riding rough, tires seemed to be flat on one side - not perfectly round - did I let the car sit too long on these poorly made tires? Maybe, don't know. Took the car in for evaluation. The tires only had 2000 miles so I ask the gentleman at the counter if the tires were still under warranty. He said, "tires have been discontinued but we'll see, let's evaluate it first". After testing and putting the car on the lift, it was determined that my tires are perfect - nothing wrong. The bumping that I felt, is my worn out axel and struts. "Here's our quote - we'll be happy to repair it for you today for $1786, will that be cash or charge" I said, "that's a lot money, let me think about it", and I left I went to a competitor, they inspected tires and they were bad. Yes, flat on one side, not perfectly round, causing the bumping and jerking. Axel and struts are in great shape. Tires were replaced and now the car runs perfectly - no issues The moral of the story is that Big O are scumbags They did not want to honor my warranty so they concocted some B.S. to steal more of money I don't know how they are still in business treating their customers like garbage I know they don't care but I will never do business these crooks ever again read more

I set up a 9am appointment to have 4 tires changed, balanced and aligned. I have a fleet vehicle, and I showed up at 8am to be sure that all the paperwork was going to be done prior, as it always takes about an hour to get payment and service set up with the fleet management company. 3 hours later my truck finally moved from the parking spot I left it in when I handed them the key. 1.5 hours to change 4 tires! then I watched as the mechanic parked my truck in a close spot to get ready for the alignment. 3 other vehicles that showed up after me went into that alignment bay. I finally had enough and had to ASK for an update. They told me the only thing left was an alignment and then I was asked if I wanted to skip it.......? I have never had that asked of me. Sadly I was tired of being there for 5+ total hours after watching car after car get their alignment, and left without. Mind you, this is all being done while I'm on the clock for my company and ended up letting our customer down for the days projects. I would give 0 stars if it was an option. Poor communication. Lack of respect for paying customers time when scheduling appointments. I will not ever use a Big O chain store again because of what I just went through. read more

We caught a flat tire in Yosemite on a Friday night, and the only place that was open nearby on a weekend was this Big O Tire in Sonora. It seemed we caught a lucky break (my car doesn't come with a spare tire). While the personnel were switching our tires out, they told me they would call me when they were done. To kill time, we walked to downtown Sonora. They never called, so we wasted hours walking around. We wasted that Saturday intended for hiking Yosemite waiting for tire replacement and a call that never came. A month later, I take my car into a car dealership for an oil change. The service personnel tell me they noticed one of my tires was mounted incorrectly. The rear left tire was mounted in reverse, i.e. the inside wall of the tire was on the outside, and vice versa. "What's the big deal?" Well, for the past month, I was driving with the treads on one tire reversed! There are labels on the tires that indicate "inside" vs. "outside", and I'm baffled how alleged tire professionals (they are Big O "TIRES" after all) can mess up something so simple. Should I have double checked? In hindsight, yes; however, if you're paying hundreds of dollars for tires and tire services, should the onus be on you to double check something as simple as mounting a tire on the proper side was done correctly? Probably not. Tldr: bad service, questionable credentials. I had to bring my car to a Big O Tire nearby, where they mounted the tire (correctly) for free. When I told them what happened, they were equally baffled and chuckled, as they should -- fucking up something so simple like this is a joke. read more

I called first and gave my vehicle information. I was interested only in a oil change. I was quoted $123.00. I showed up to get my oil changed expecting to pay the quoted price. After :15 minutes of the customer service agent taking tire measurements he returned to the office. He then began to ask me questions about my truck. " is it a diesel, is it 4wd?" If he had looked at all when he was out there he would have had his questions answered. I next was given a written estimate of $ 171.00. I asked what THAT was for. He said " it takes lots of oil, plus labor". I asked why I was quoted $120.00 on the phone? He couldn't answer. I politely asked for my keys back and went to Sonora Express Lube. Never again. 85 year old female with a handicapped placard on the car. Bought tires at big o earlier this week just under a thousand dollars. Made an appointment for 9 am today and asked how long it would take for an oil change and fluid checks was told about an hour. Arrived on time and told them I wanted to be sure of safety of car for a planned trip. Big mistake.... Ended up with brake work and a long list of recommendations including tire rotation. After reminding tires had just been installed they removed that. But found brake repair necessary safety concern. Was sent to a waiting room until almost 1pm. Waiting room emptied everyone gone. In spite of great difficulty walking I went to the desk and said I have to get out of here I've been waiting since 0900. Put my credit card on the counter and evidently that triggered a confrontation. The car was ready they had the bill at the counter but said it had just been put there. I paid asked where was the car and was told "just outside". I went out waited a few minutes but no sign of my car. Went back and said I need help which was irritably provided. Was told they had no parking availability and it wasn't their problem. He began looking for the car and found it across the busy vehicle entry of the shopping center in the bank parking lot. I was beyond patient and told him I would never come back. His rude response was we hope you won't and it takes time to work on cars."You would expect a car that was "just finished" wouldn't be parked that far from them. Was told it was my fault for not letting them know I needed assistance. Pretty damn obvious. Big O told me that my flat was not reparable and that I would have to replace all 4 tires since I have an AWD. It also took Big O 45 minutes to tell me this (yes, I had an appointment). Additionally, Big O did not even have my tires in stock (even though I called ahead to confirm that they did). Utterly disappointed with Big O's service and feeling like I was being duped , I called Les Schwab. If I'm going to spend $500+ on tires, I wasn't going to give it to Big O. Mike at Les Schwab said they had the tires but first wanted to double check my damaged tire to see if it was fixable. It was. He said he'd fix it any day of the week, that it wasn't even questionable. He didn't even charge me. I took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation and the next day when I went to get something out of the glove box I found that the front passenger door would only open partway without scraping on the side panel that sits above the front right side tire. Upon further inspection, I noticed that there was a dent on the underside of this section of the vehicle. Since I had only driven a few short miles from Big O to my house the day before I immediately concluded my vehicle had been damaged during the time of being serviced. I called them and they told me to bring the vehicle in. The manager had one of the techs put it up on a lift and he and the owner both decided that there was "no way" their equipment could have caused the damage. They both agreed that they'd "never seen" this type of damage be caused by their equipment. Since I didn't notice the damage right away being that it was on the passenger side of the vehicle I was not able to document it at the time that I picked up my vehicle. When I took my vehicle to a body shop to have the damage repaired the technician who examined my vehicle confirmed my suspicion saying that the damage was "too isolated" to have been caused by the vehicle striking something while moving. He said he'd seen this type of damage before and that it was caused by the vehicle being lifted incorrectly. The manager at Big O assured me that he would fix any damage that had been caused at their shop if he was certain they had caused the damage. After my experience and reading through these Yelp reviews, I'm convinced otherwise. I know I will never take my vehicle to this shop again and I suggested you look elsewhere as well. read more
