Looking at other reviews it seems like a nice place to go. However, i will say my experience with being a first time caller was not welcoming. I called in interest to get my car smog and was told "well you need an appointment". As i mentioned i was interested in moving forward, the comment of having to ask my husband if he was available for the given date and time was too much. I was told " I have other callers i need to answer" and comments like "figure it out" that i over heard were not ok. My response: "it's ok ma'am, I will find somewhere else, thank you" and hung up. read more

The diagnosis of the problem was excellent, for several of our vehicles, with different problems. The main complaint is the length of time it takes to get a vehicle back from them, and the lack of updates from them, as week after week rolls by. For several vehicles of ours, it has taken a month! They promise timeliness of repair, and to get back to you, but break those promises. The quality of the repairs has nevertheless ranged from excellent to good. read more

I cannot say enough great things about Jim's automotive/Opies. I took my motorhome there for a smog. They had some issues with their smog machine, so I had to bring it back the next day a small inconvenience, but I wouldn't complain about that. It was out of their hands. Margie who answers the phone was very sweet and helpful. My service tech was over the top. He was very patient with me and my circumstances. He did an excellent job on my motorhome as well as super customer service. Everyone there was very friendly. I would highly recommend this place for any service needs. read more

I am so Disappointed with this place. They charged my Son $414.00 for an oil change. After my Son took the car home we had another mechanic take a look at it and nothing was done. How can please get away with stealing money from hard working people. Where is their integrity. read more

I was so impressed with the work the guys did on my oil change and yearly maintenance for my RV. I needed one thing ordered but after calling multiple times in a 3 week period I could not get any one to return my calls. I finally had to seek out another shop to do the work. They really need a better receptionist as each time I called she didn't seem to remember me even if it was just a day or two later. read more

Talked to a woman named Margie or something on the phone. She sounded like she was really out of it or on drugs. Asked if she could quote me for a small radiator job. Waited for her to then ask for the details and instead, she started laughing at me and said she didn't have anything for today. Huh?! Clearly she misunderstood what I was asking, but even if she didn't, why would you laugh at a customer? So unprofessional. I told her I think she misheard me, and that I wasn't talking about something today, but that I just needed a quote for a small radiator job. She then said it's $70 and includes a certificate. Huh?! (She was talking about SMOG certificate, not anything close to what I asked). I then said I think she's misunderstanding me (again), and that I just need a quote for a RADIATOR JOB. She then finally got it and said she could have someone call me back later about it. Later?! I told her to just forget it. Shouldn't hire people that sound like they are on drugs, can't communicate properly with customers, and don't know anything about the business and can't use a computer to look things up and "talk shop" with the customer, having to then "ask one of the guys". What purpose do they serve in this case? To just answer phones or do paperwork? Should just put a wireless phone on one of "the guys" belts and save yourself paying someone's salary who isn't really competent or helping the business, because in this case, she caused a loss of business. Her demeanor, confusion, and lack of care or ability to help me turned me off and I'm sure I'm not the only one this has happened to. If I recorded the conversation you'd really be flabergasted and confused by her. read more

I called in this morning to get a quote for an injection fuel system cleaning. Margie answered the phone and she told me that they needed to see the car in order for them to give me an estimate, when I asked her if I could please talk to a mechanic, she out flat told me that they won't speak to me over the phone. That's really strange cuz when I called other shops they give an estimate over the phone and I could speak with a mechanic. For this reason alone I'm giving them one star. read more

I cannot possibly say enough about this shop. Traveling through the area, I unexpectedly developed car issues. I actually found this place via Yelp! Steve was able to diagnose the problem, get the part, and take care of it the same day, despite the fact they were obviously already busy. On top of this, he was friendly, courteous, and professional. The cost was fair, certainly no more than I'd expect to pay at a dealer. Hopefully you never have car problems a hundred miles from home, but if you do, you'd be lucky to find yourself near this shop. read more

I have had Jim's Automotive work on my 2000 Ford F350, 7.3 liter diesel on several occasions. With 250,000 miles on the truck, issues are starting to show up. Instead of just replacing parts to see if that will fix the problems, Steve actually diagnosed the problem and fixed the correct part. The issue took someone with a lot of knowledge of how the main computer system interacts with all the sensors and thinking through error codes that the computer stores. I had transmission error codes pop up and instead of just replacing what the "book" says is wrong, Steve actually did some investigating and diagnosing. Steve said my transmission was good, the issue was the part of the main computer (ECM) that receives communication signals from the transmission had gone bad. Steve located a company in Tennessee that repairs ECM's and had it repaired. The ECM was plugged back in and now my truck runs the way it is supposed to. I have also had Jim's automotive rebuild the front end suspension on my truck. My steering was sloppy and the front end rattled when I drove over any bumps. The front end was rebuilt and the truck rides and drives like it hasn't in a long time. I am very happy with Jim's automotive and would highly recommend them to anybody. Just remember that good quality work takes a little longer to get done. read more

I never leave such awful reviews if I could give this place zero stars I would !!! If you want to get screwed over by all means this is the place to go to. Anyways went to these people to fix my car that wouldn't start it was a simple battery issue. Went down drove the guy up anyways they couldn't get a battery until the next day they put the CHEAPEST battery of all time a 3 year battery for 215$ !!!! I've went to autozone and bought a premium battery for my 02 Subaru Impreza Wrx 5 year warranty for LESS THAN THAT PRICE !!! So if you want to get ripped off by all means that place is the place to go to. When you speak to the receptionist she seemed to be really out of it or definitely on something since she couldn't comprehend the questions I was asking. Also asked for a price quote to fix a check engine light that I already know what is wrong with the vehicle just need to part replaced they wanted to charge be 170$ for a diagnostic NOT including the part or labor to actually FIX the vehicle. I've already got my price check from another place that will cost less to actually fix the car!!! Definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE !!!!! read more

I was very impressed of their honesty when they told us we did not need said repairs. I will continue using their service and highly recommend them to others needing car repairs.
