The cabana and river area was very nice. The port-a-potties and changing areas were disgusting, messy, smelly, and unkept. Also, I asked where we could put in for our tubes, and they said right where our cabana was. Well, we were in cabana 1, and that float lasted all of 10-15 mins. We waited for a shuttle, but one never showed, and with all the people there, we wouldn't all fit. Wasted $72 on 3 tubes, and didn't even get to float the river. read more

I was expecting it to be as fun as Son's Island, but it wasn't. We took our kayak but couldn't use it because the water was too low and it was super crowded. At Son's island we rented the ifloat mat -- which is not offered therIt was a "been there,done that" for this place. read more

This place was absolutely perfect! the clamping tents were really nice and clean. the Ac worked great, even woke up cold in the middle of the Texas summer heat. There were lots of supplies provided for camp fires, cooking on the grill, etc. The bathrooms were close and relatively clean, pretty decent for camping if I say so. the walk to the river was pretty short as well. also I feel the staff was really nice and helpful. over all just really great and fun experience. definitely plan on coming back. read more

Very nice place to hangout and relax for the day. Just be extremely careful in the water (section A) kids should have life jackets at all times. That drop is no joke!! Everyone please please be aware and smart. Thank goodness for one!! Only one employee that helped us. We are extremely grateful and will be back soon to Thank you. We will definitely be going here again! I booked a cabana for the day/ night for my husband's birthday and we could not have asked for more! I will say, while we had fun in the tubes we will definitly be either taking a paddle or just getting kayaks next time. Just to make it over all easier to manage in certain parts of the river. A waterproof Bluetooth speaker is a MUST and maybe even something to anchor you down. There were certain parts of the river that were perfectly shaded that we wished we could have park there for a bit. Next time we go we will also be staying for a longer period of time. We wanted to book one of the glamping tents for the night but with those you have to stay a minimum of 3 days which we unfortunately couldn't. Another thing, because the last shuttle leaves at 530, if you wanted to float down the river more than once you'd definitly have to get there early and plan it out right. Thankfully, for us the weather forecast changed while we were there from an 80% chance of thunder storms to a light sprinkle while we were leaving. read more

BEWARE!!! This is NOT Son's Island! The website is not clear and when you try to book at Son's Island it redirects you to Son's River Ranch - WITHOUT TELLING YOU! Son's River Ranch is a completely different property with different facilities and is on a river instead of a lake. So when you click on the button to check availability at Son's Island, it actually takes you to the availability at Son's River Ranch - with no re-direct notice. We booked a Cabana thinking we would get one experience and now we're getting something nowhere near as nice. read more

Do not recommend, me and my family had reserved two camp sites next to each other, and due to them over booking our area was taken and they had to move us to another area. It seemed like they had made up for it but the following day while we were in the river enjoying our day they told us we had to move again! Bc they had also booked the area they had moved us too. Extremely inconvenient, wasted our whole afternoon moving our things to another campsite once again due to them overbooking and being inconsiderate. Not to mention we had to set up camp once again as it was already getting dark. read more

We were attempting to book a cabana at Son's Island (sonsisland.com), but were unknowingly redirected to booking this less-desirable property (sonsriverranch.com) which isn't as nice and just as expensive. Two agents on their customers service line told me that they've informed management of this issue as it is a a common complaint, leading me to believe this dishonesty is intentional. My entire family was very disappointed. Unlike Son's Island this is on a river with strong current. Within minutes of arriving both of my young children were swept away in the current. We were trying to repeat of my son's birthday from last year at Son's Island. My son's verdict of Son's River Ranch: "I hated this day." read more

Would never recommend this or any other Son's property if this management is any representation of their level of customer service. Have had to complain multiple times about another group literally 4 spots away. They have music ( including brutal karaoke ) so loud it can be heard from where you check in at which is probably 100 yards away. The complaints apparently have fallen on deaf ears or maybe they couldn't hear it over the karaoke. Was hoping for a fun family holiday but had to put up with a drunken karaoke fest at full volume. Will NEVER come again and will be sure to tell anyone that will listen to stay far, far away. read more

So.. rented the glamping tents (2) and paid for two days of tubing for a family of 5...only used one day! Glamping tents were good, although be prepared for a lot of dust from the roads and pay close attention to what is provided in the "kitchen"..basically a few pots. As for the tubing..terrible experience. First "crystal-clear" water? Not even close. Murky...at best. "Gentle guiding" no! Only on a few spots the rest made us find a branch to try to make us move. Towards the end, there was a breeze that was actually blowing us backwards. We were stuck. I had my grandson's tube tied to mine and had to jump out to try to swim and pull us forward. The water was over my head and my wife had to come back and help save us. Was terrifying. We made it ..barely. If you tube, try to sneak a paddle that they give to the kayakers. As for "knowledgeable and helpful staff". Don't count on it. The young man checking us in neglected to give us the combination to the tent lock or the wifi passcode. If you need help...call the toll free number. They are definitely helpful. Also, ensure you understand all the logistics of the tubing...because the two individuals working that station (although very nice) speak zero English. Just ew. We're here now and I can't wait to go home. The bathrooms are appalling.... They aren't actual structures but like portopotties on wheels with showers in them. Freaking gross. We rented a cabin and it smells awful. Like it's hard to sleep because of the smell and it doesn't seem like a thing they can fix, it's like a mix of cigarettes and mildew. The river is a chalky green and warm. There's a bazillion people because they sell day passes, so it's not like a tranquil camping environment but more like a gross party with a million people on top of each other. And they have "quiet time" at 11... that would be fine except they literally want you in your cabin, they want complete silence. We have a group of us, like 8 families and we were just sitting in front of our cabin talking and these kids come by and yell at us that it's quiet time. We weren't being loud, no music, just sitting in a group and they felt they need to threaten to kick us out... I'm sorry, what?? Take your money elsewhere, there's plenty of places on the river. Stinks, gross and rude, ya hard pass. read more

I've been twice and It's always a blast I think the staff is nice and they make sure everyone is comfortable. The second time I went we had some issues with the tent the people before us thought they had an extra day but they did not so the tent was a mess the cleaning staff got right on it and it took them about 30-45 minutes to clean everything we got offered late check out since we weren't able to get in our cabin on time and then there was a fly issue we tried multiple times to get the flies to go away and I understood that we were outside and there were going to be flies and bugs but it was the amount of flies that were bothering us we couldn't eat outside or enjoy the patio so we ended moving cabins which helped a lot the rest of the trip was amazing we just had a rocky start but the staff made sure that we were comfortable and they made everything easy! I definitely recommend for people who love being on the river and love to camp! read more

This experience was nothing like the pictures and videos. It was advertised on one of the morning shows in SA and totally unrepresentative of what was being marketed. Our cabana was loaded with spider webs and the chairs were so dirty we couldn't even sit in them without spraying them down. We couldn't use the the hammock which was placed in the sun. The fan did not work and when we finally located someone to fix it they said it was broken and they would bring a portable fan. This would have helped keep away the flies when we were eating. Two hours later still no-one had shown up with the fan, so we just decided to leave . All together we stayed about three hours and left along with two other families. We were unsatisfied with this purchase. read more

This was our first time visiting Son's River Ranch. We stayed 2 nights in the glamping tents and rented a cabana for the day and evening. First let me talk about the cleanliness. The trash collection bins where overflowing and I think this contributed to the excessive amount of flies. They were everywhere. The bathrooms were ok. They had dispensers for soap but never had soap. One thing that bothered me was the lack of rule consistency. Upon arrival I saw a staff member help our neighbor move a fire ring to his location leaving one of the other tents without one. Not a big deal right. Well when I was at my cabana we used the barbque pit from the cabana right next to us because it was a covered grill and the one at our cabana was not. Staff approached us and took it away from us. Right then and there. I would understand if they were at capacity however there was no one there. They were practically empty. I don't think I will be going back. read more
