Son's River Ranch is everything we expected to be. If you decide to go "glamping" here be sure to plan ahead and pack all the necessities! If you are well prepared and come with low expectations then you will truly have a memorable experience especially if you have little ones. I wouldn't suggest the tents if you are staying overnight. They are so tiny. It is much worth it to get the glampjng cabins and have all the extras included like the coffee maker, TV, and cookware. The tents didn't have any of that. The least favorite part of our stay were the bathrooms. There are public outdoor bathrooms with showers, sinks and toilets but a lot of them were gross and dirty. Next time I would stay at a cabin that includes a bathroom. If they weren't so dirty I would've stayed another night. The best part of our trip was of course hanging out and swimming on the river. The water is shallow and not too dangerously deep for our youngest. Lots of people, music and overall good vibes! Bring lots of food to grill and rent a canopy for the day! Overall an amazing quick family getaway.

When I was younger I had the energy to load up a tent and chairs then search for the perfect spot on the river. Now with work and kids it's much easier to find someone that does all of that work for you. Are there cheaper ways to enjoy the river? Yes, but if you just want a seamless day with a perfect spot on the river ready for you then Son's has it covered. Son's has tented tables right on the river, cabanas a little more set back, and glamping tents if staying the night. Each table or cabana has a grill. They have canoes and tubes for rental, and a convenient shuttle that takes you back to the ranch. There is only one gas station about ten minutes away so bring plenty of food, drinks, snacks, charcoal and a lighter. From San Antonio or Austin it's easier to take toll 130 to highway 80. It only took around an hour from SA. Even if you just have a few hours it's nice to get outside and enjoy the river.

Okay so, I wanted to go camping for my birthday!!! & I heard about sons river ranch. On the way to the campsite you feel like you're going the wrong way . Then you see the little wooden sign and it's a rocky road leading to the check-in area. Along that road is a cotton field like a huge cotton field!! Check in is super simple you get your access code and head down to your tent or cabin. The cabin has fridge, tv, DVD player, AC, mini fireplace, pots pans, hot pot & coffee makers . Literally everything you need. On the outside is a sitting area on the porch you have your own hammock, picnic table and fire pit. The cabins are pretty spread out so you're not too close too your neighbors. The river front is soo beautiful, it's low enough to sit in a chair and or for a nice little swim ‍ while you grill some food at your rental cabana. Friday mornings get packed pretty quickly so you want to make sure you reserve you spot early. You definitely want to make your you bring water shoes . The water shoes are a must have!! Also if you forget fire wood, charcoal, lighter fluid or water shoes they have it on all on site. & the H-E-B is only 13 minutes away

If you're reading this, this is your SIGN TO BOOK THIS RESORT! It's the best camping/glamping spots for me. The cabins are well equipped and have plenty of space for 4 person. It's clean and they made sure that you're comfortable. The air conditioner was on point especially with texas heat. Love that the room comes with fridge, microwave, coffee maker and hot plate. Also, the toilets and showers are very clean. They make sure that they have it cleaned up before every morning It's the PERFECT GETAWAY for me!!!!

We rented a cabana and love it!! It had electricity, hammock, bar and stools, water, a ceiling fan and was near the water! We came to celebrate my daughters bday and we enjoyed the day at the river and in the cabana.

Nice place along the San Marcos River for some enjoyable family time. Ultimate glamping experience with all the available amenities. Affordable stay two nights the last weekend in October not crowded at all.

We drove all the way from houston to come visit. The kids were very skeptical about going to the river. Once they got there they quickly grabbed the tubs and dashed to the river. We rented a cabana and brought some things for hamburgers and hotdogs I definitely recommend sun block The river was kind of low in some areas and moving kind of slow in others. The kids really enjoyed the bend in the river where the rope was attached to the tree and they could jump in Would definitely go again next time we will reserve a glamping tent Recommend for some family fun outside the city limits

We loved the spot, the cabana, the shade, chairs, and the fan! We rented the cabana for the day and evening so we could cook our dinner after most others were leaving. It was so peaceful as the sun was going down. We were with friends and family and would totally do it again.

    River view from tubes

A large camping ground that has manyyyy activities. There's kayaking, tubing, volleyball, grilling, and fishing. There's a lot to do on camp. There's SUPER hot water to clean off after the river, and very clean bathrooms. Towels, dishes, microwave, heater, A/C, wifi, basically everything you need for a nice weekend getaway, family trip, girls trip, anything. Very affordable, and nice!

We came here with some family . One thing you don't see any where on the websites is that they you might see a snake or 2 . I wouldn't say Poisonous snake they water is also not blue more on the green side . Not like swamp green but green/blueish where you can't see in the water. The area it self is very relaxing .

Little children like my granddaughter age 3 1/2 would need to wear floaties for your peace of mind but, parents are going to be with their children. My daughter and her husband rented a Kayak to go to the other side where it is deeper and there was a rope swing. My son in law loved that. You can take your own water toys and tubes. It is spring fed and it stays 72 degrees all year. It's still chilly but when you walk around you get use to it and it's comfortable. I have not camped out. We may go again for the 4th and we might camp out. It's very pleasant there. The cabanas are great. Lots of shade in the cabanas and you can grill, there are lots of chairs so you don't have to take chairs unless you want to. You will need to take food and drinks, snacks. All of the cabanas have hammocks which is nice. Beware of rocks though and be sure and take your water shoes so that you can walk on the rocks. There are some areas that are very easy to just walk into the water where the ground is level. I highly recommend this place for a fun family weekend or a fun day.

Short review: False Advertising, Double Booking, Mold Exposure, Unsanitary Conditions, and Terrible…read moreCustomer Service Avoid Son's Blue River Camp at all costs. Long Review: The night before our reservation, the venue called to tell us the "bell tent" we booked and fully paid for was actually a bring-your-own-tent campsite. Instead of honoring the reservation, they immediately tried to upsell us and charge additional money to "upgrade" to a glamping cabin. After making last-minute accommodations to bring our own tent, we arrived the next day only to be told our reserved campsite had been double booked due to their online and in-person reservation systems "not communicating." Staff admitted they had been dealing with this issue all day. This campground was grossly overbooked and lacked adequate infrastructure--insufficient campsites, limited electricity, limited water access, inadequate sewage accommodations, and overflowing porta-potties. Some were cautioned taped off. One staff member, Clayton, was openly hostile and told us: "Y'all could all really just go home and that would make my life a lot easier." Knowing they enforce a strict no refund policy, that wasn't a real option. We were temporarily placed in a "glamping cabin," which had a strong mildew odor, visible mold contamination, and likely water damage. The mold and mildew were severe enough to disrupt sleep and created serious health concerns. This is not "glamping"--this is unsafe lodging. The following day, after being reassured our campsite issues were resolved, we returned from the river to find our paid campsite was once again being occupied by another group. Staff then blamed us for not setting up earlier--even though they had told us the site was available. This confirms what many should know: if you book online, they may not actually reserve your site. Meanwhile, walk-up campers appear to pay less, creating a pattern of double-booking and double-charging customers. Conditions across the property were unacceptable: Overflowing trash cans left baking in 90+ degree heat Trash not removed during the entire stay Strong odors from garbage and human waste Porta-potties that could be smelled from over 100 feet away Ant infestations inside and outside sleeping tents Broken or non-working advertised AC units Mold-covered canvas tents Unclean and unsanitary sleeping areas When we reported ants covering one of the tents, staff responded: "What do you want me to do about it?" This was one of the worst examples of misrepresentation, unsafe camping conditions, unsanitary glamping accommodations, poor campground management, and negligent customer service we've ever experienced. We filed formal complaints with the Guadalupe County Code Enforcement office who reported back that MOLD CONTAMINATION WAS CONFIRMED IN THEIR BELL TENTS. They offered us a credit for another stay, but after this experience, there is absolutely no reason we would ever return. This place feels like a scam and a massive health hazard. Book literally anywhere else.

Different sections of Son's Island, the original hut we rented was not available anymore so they provided a different place and location. The rental for the day is about $150 for first 8 people then after that it's $20 each person. The huts can be rented for up to 15 people. The hut they wanted to give us was not what we asked for near the water but they granted us to use the next hut next to us. The staff was friendly and helpful when we asked. The huts have lots of bar seating, table seating, seat hammock as well as a bench seating. They also provide kayak with life jacket and mat rentals to use. Their multiple bathrooms were pretty clean and some had ac. When its hot, it was bearable to be there as you are under the shade of the hut and sometimes, there is some wind. The only thing I rated it one less star is the river is not very clear and pretty dirty but it rained the day before so that might be why it was murky. I would still try to clean the debris around the island thought. Now, that we know about this place, we will invite others to rent the hut for a picnic day. Loved our time here with friends. I thought a long time about writing a review for this place as it would have to be a one star…read morereview. Today at a Yelp event one of the guys said I should write one for sure after just mentioning a little of what I experienced. So this will be a warning for everyone that goes there. I went there on multiple occasions and talked with the owner and the general manager several times. And the owner is a very difficult person that can explode on you for very little things. He did so ones on me in person and he also send me a very disturbing email that was very offensive and insulting. If you read some of the reviews on Facebook and Google you will see how he is. He doesn't believe in many laws so the property has open holes and unsecured drops all over the place, this includes a mine shaft if you want to call it that way that goes I would imagine 50 to 100 feet deep into the ground and is unsecured. He invites people to take mud baths in there. Next is the GM, he also only follows the laws he likes to apply, so I personally know that he flew his drone illegally next to an airport in a manner that is quite questionable. The indention of the owner is quite nice, he takes old materials and build new things out of it, but he doesn't follow any laws and is very rude to everyone. His property is a mine field of dangerous spots that are just waiting to injure visitors that want to see the houses. I don't give one star ratings very often but after what I had to endured and the fact that I am still waiting for a payment from them, I finally had to write this review.

After telling her the size of our Jayco travel trailer being 29' and we have a Rav 4 and a chevy Silverado 1/2 ton she suggested space 00 just behind the office. She said it would be perfect and their security camera would over look the back of our trailer. She said the space was $525 a month. I said sounds good! She said we could look at it so we did. The site had plenty of space as i did a measurement to be sure. There would still be a good 8ft from the back of our bumpers to the road. We went back told her looks good there's plenty of room we'll take it. She said they needed a $200 dollar deposit so we did that right then. We filled all the paperwork and were ready to go. We were to move in on the 17th. We gave notice at the park we were at in San Antonio. 4 days before we were to move there she calls and asks about our vehicles so my wife tells her as we did when we were there and she then blames the owners and says they came by and said we wouldn't fit in the spot which was a lie. She gave our site away! If she didn't know when she called what cars we were, how would the owners know they wouldn't fit and she had all this information and said it would work great. So she says she has to move us but it will be a space with more room. I said we'll we would need to see it. I asked if it was the same price, she said yes I'm giving you a discount, making it sound like it was still the same. I right away questioned it and then she says it's $545 I giving you a discount. I said our site you promised us with our deposit is $525 and now you want to charge us more when we were already booked for our spot paperwork done everything. She said yeah I'm giving you a discount like that makes it OK. I said we had our spot booked and deposit paid! Then she say "Well you can look around see what else you find, I could refund your deposit! I said " We booked that site! I said were done here just refund our deposit. She got ticked off and hung on us. The the owners of that rv park really need a professional person who doesn't have problems dealing with the public. All these negative reviews can't be wrong. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
