What a hidden gem this place is! I took my wife out to lunch and she suggested trying this place. Don't let the outside fool you. It does look a bit 7-11ish but step inside and you will be transported to an amazing tour of Japanese sushi house entertainment. (and the food is good too) The place is outfitted with the standard sushi bar with a conveyor-belt style sushi running $2-5 or you can order from a menu. We opted for table-side services and the menu. We weren't sure what to try on our first visit so we both ordered the lunch bento box. (~$8) Lunch started with the traditional miso soup. Then the server brought out two of the largest bento boxes I have seen stuffed with ginger salad, teriyaki chicken, California roll, a plethora of tempura veggies and shrimp, and rice. Seriously, one box can feed two people. The food was great and we took home plenty of extras. I do wish they would had not put the wasabi and pickled ginger under the bowl of dipping sauce. I didn't find it until after I finished the sushi. (wawa) The service was a bit slow, but they got hit hard at lunch. We arrived at 11:30 with a small group, but when we left at 12:15 the place was packed. Be aware that people have discovered this fine establishment and hit it up for lunch! My girlfriend and I had been dying for a dedicated sushi restaurant to open up in Longview/Kelso. We saw the sign on the building that a sushi restaurant was coming soon and we kept our eyes on it. We went in on the second day it was open (we missed the sign or we would have been there on the first day) and were really pleased with everything. The restaurant itself was clean and simply decorated with some nice touches. The sushi bar looked immaculate. And the food was outstanding. We are both self-professed sushi snobs who have driven many many miles for acceptable sushi. Well Sora Sushi is new favorite, especially since it is close to us. We had the Kelso Roll (chicken katsu, shrimp, sweet chili sauce and masago) which was totally weird and different but in a good way. A great warm weather/Summer roll. We also had the traditional Rainbow Roll which was perfectly clean tasting. And then lastly, our favorite of the night, the Sora Roll. Shrimp tempura roll topped with thin avocado slices and a sauce. It was delicious. Plating on everything was fantastic. Can't wait to come again and bring some of our non-sushi eating friends to try the extensive non-sushi portion of their menu. read more

We stopped in Kelso to rest during a long road trip and we almost went to Red Lobster because none of the reviews for the local places seemed that great. Ended up going to the sushi joint because Red lobster have zero vegetarian options. This place was amazing! The sushi was great and they offer really awesome sushi combos, Bento boxes AND udon. Finally, we have a sushi bar here in Kelso! Except, it is a total disappointment. Their prices are equivalent to a nice, higher end sushi bar, but the restaurant itself is pretty grungy and ghetto by comparison. There's not much good that can be said of their customer service and food either. We are confused about the positive reviews! We drove for 40 minutes based on the praise of this Sushi Bar to have a less than pleasant experience. Upon our arrival the two sushi chefs were outside smoking, when they came back in neither one washed their hands! We ordered Kirin Light and were served Kirin, when questioned he responded "this is it what we have no Kirin Light". On to the sushi, the conveyor belt of sushi was not updated for the entire hour we were there. We ordered sashimi and the waiter acted very put out, he went into the kitchen and ten minutes later returned with our order. The lids were off of the plates of sushi, floor was dirty, bus trays were overflowing right next to our seats at the sushi bar and tables had empty water glasses on them. I wish we would have sat there and tried a lot more rolls. We sat at a booth and orders two rolls both very good. Service also good. Oh my! DELICIOUS!!! My Japanese mother wanted to go here for Mother's Day for dinner tonight! She had been there yesterday and liked it so much, we all went today. My picky husband and two sons loved their dishes (chicken teriyaki don and chicken katsu-don)! Everything we tried was delicous! Miso soup, tempura, sushi, udon were all incredible. We had a great waiter, but all the servers came by and made sure we had everything we needed or wanted. GREAT food, service and value!!! There were five hungry people who ordered a bunch of food and we all left with leftovers and only paid $80 including a generous tip! I wanted to like this place, I truly did. Service was good, presentation was beautiful, prices were what I expected. But, then it happened. My friend found a hair in her food. I know that can happen anywhere, any time, I get it. But sushi walks the fine line of what you can stomach enough by itself without worrying what else is in the food. Horrible! We stopped here after googling a sushi place on our way home. The roll came with avocado that was unripe and hard! The fish looked like it was thrown on the roll not neatly made. No sauce on it either. My husband ordered chicken katsu it was dry. Just ate at Sora Sushi because husband and I were hungry and passing through town after visiting Mt. St. Helen. Wasn't impressed at all. The char siu ramen and beef udon lacked flavor and the broth was bland. Both ramen and udon taste like the cook quickly threw Chinese char siu and beef takeout together and pass it off as authentic Japanese. Very excited to have a good quality sushi place in this town! I've been here a few times and I have to say that this place is pretty good. The sushi rolls and nigeri are super fresh and tasty. The bento box is large and very good. I didn't like the California rolls or the salad dressing that came with said box but everything else I've tried is excellent and presented very well. The waitstaff are very nice and attentive. The service has improved very quickly since the time they first opened. The décor is extremely inviting and relaxing. This place used to be an all time favorite, but the last few times I've been in with my family, service has been atrocious. The hot tea comes close to cold to the table, and it's treated as an inconvenience to the staff to correct it. The overall service here is slow and inattentive. Cons: prices I am very happy to see a sushi place in Kelso! I was only able to eat the sushi here once or twice because I was pregnant, but I remember it being very good. This is my favorite sushi joint in town now, but not for their specialty rolls. The nigiri and sashimi peices are very generous and fresh. They don't do the wasabi smear between the rice and fish like most sushi places do, which I find odd, but it's made up for by the generous portion. The wasabi itself isn't that great. They just have really fresh, really big pieces of fish. I've had a few other items on the menu - their chicken yakisoba is pretty tasty, and the chicken udon was suprisingly good. The chicken teriyaki was ok. I've had a few of the special rolls, but nothing has really appealed to me. I'll come back again and again for the nigiri and sashimi though. read more

Best sushi in Kelso/Longview. I'm from NYC so I know good sushi. My wife and I were worried when I got a temporary job in Longview because we love sushi. Stopped in while on a road trip to get something to eat that wasn't fast food or greasy. We had a toddler with us and the place was a big busy. We were seated right away and got our food really quickly. The food was decently priced - about $35 for a few rolls, six or seven nigiri, miso soups, and some sesame balls. Everything tasted good, though a little heavy on the rice and the spicy tuna roll was a little mayonnaise-y. The miso was delicious! The staff were very friendly and especially sweet to our son. This place and Sakura Sushi are the 2 main sushi joints around now, and I go here most of the time because its right off the highway when I get into town. They have parking lots on both sides of the building and a huge lot right behind on the hill so parking is a breeze. Building looks good and the interior decoration is Japanese themed with dark wood for all the furniture. Makes for a comfortable environment. I go at random times and so far the noise level is usually low, and I love hearing the employees shout the order out. Now for the food: For the most part I get the sushi, and my experience thus far is excellent! Prices range $9-15 depending on single order or the bigger ones. Normal orders give a serving size that is more than filling, and the larger orders give enough for a second meal or 2 people. My experience with wait time is usually around 15 min which is reasonable since it is made to order and not just sitting around. For my birthday we decided to dine in, we sat at a booth and the waiter soon came with menus and water. He answered all the questions we threw at him to the best of his ability. I ordered the chicken udon and it was superb! Serving sizes are more than enough for one person and I was only able to eat about half of my udon, which means I am enjoying it again as I write this review. So in conclusion: The food is great, wait times reasonable, prices are also reasonable, and proportions are more than enough for one person. With how expensive it has become to eat at crappy fast food places like subway, McDs, jackinthebox and the like, there is no reason not to try Sora Sushi and other places that serve REAL food. read more

I never do reviews but I HAVE to tell everyone about this place. I just moved back to the mainland from Hawaii, and haven't found high quality sushi until I came here. Pulling into the parking lot I was a little skeptical with the relatively small amount of cars. But from the moment I sat down it was nothing but spectacular and exceeded all expectations. My husbands Sapporo was ice cold and we were instantly served miso soup. We ordered four rolls, none of them disappointing in quality or quantity, along with phenomenally low prices. Husband and I came here on Valentine's day as we headed home after a trip. The service was good. Better than we've had in a lot of Washington. We sat at the bar and we both really enjoyed it. The sushi was fresh, the fish was thick and not too thin, and there was a great selection of what we wanted coming around on the conveyor belt.
