Wow! Who would have thunk it? The best sushi EVER in Chehalis! The service was prompt and kind, but the servers were not as knowledgeable about sushi as one would expect, but don't let that fool you. Their chef knows what he's doing. So fresh, great fish to rice ratio and interesting rolls. The chef even came around and checked on each table to insure our complete satisfaction. Comfortable booths and clean. We highly recommend the Red Dragon Roll and the Sexy Roll. However, next time we might skip the Sexy Roll and just get some white tuna sashimi, it was delicious and got lost in the roll. We will definitely be back. Yum! read more

So took my family post Christmas for some Sushi, everything was excellent, food, service and the kindness shown to my two small grandkids by the staff was amazing. So I went for lunch today, ordered the special chicken and gozas. Well soup salad were terrific again and then they showed up with a massive plate of teriyaki chicken and 2 huge scoops of rice! I started with the gozas because they don't reheat well, ate as much of the wonderful chicken as I could and honestly came home with enough food for 2 meals!! Even the Shirley temple drink I got seemed watered down. The service wasn't terrible but it wasn't great and for the quality the food was wayyyy expensive. Well, the service was horrible. There were 8 of us, celebrating a birthday. They messed up 3 of our orders (regular California roll instead of spicy, asked for plain noodles for a kiddo and got it covered with sauce and veggies, and another roll with no spicy mayo, but it had it all over). We ordered drinks and it took the waitress several minutes to hand them out and had to ask for each drink whose it was. The food was fair. A few things were good: coconut shrimp, orange chicken, and the fry on the food was good. The sushi was mediocre, not wrapped tightly and falling apart. The peanut butter chicken is just fried chicken with melted peanut butter and was not good. The katsu chicken was dry too. All in all, not at all worth the $200 plus tip that we spent. read more

We went to Chehalis just to get away from home, which is like thirty miles north. Truthfully, there is zero chance for us to visit this restaurant if it wasn't for a series of turns and consequences while visiting Chehalis. We left home knowing we will drive south. Then, just past Centralia, we saw the Chehalis exit and on a whim said to one another: let's check it out. Nothing to lose. We like it, we park and take a walk around town. We don't - we turn around and go home. We didn't, and already turned around to go home. Really. And as we were getting ready to take the I5 north towards home, and the longest train ever passed by, and passed and passed, we saw this restaurant and again, said to one another - let's try it out. Nothing to lose. So we parked, and entered the establishment. This was when I remembered a friend who once told me: "never eat sushi more that 50 miles away from the ocean". Chehalis is much closer to the ocean than 50 miles, so we figured we're safe. But our surprise was complete. We were received by really nice staff, were told to sit where we liked, and not one minute later had a complimentary bawl of miso soup and a bowl of lettuce salad with great dressing which tasted familiar, but we couldn't place it nonetheless. One look on the menu, and I knew what I wanted. So did Dorit. We ordered eggrolls for starters, I ordered the Rainbow Roll with no white fish (for some reason I started to dislike white fish lately), Dorit ordered the coconut shrimp and sweet and sour chicken. With neither club soda not Sprite Zero available, we ordered diet Pepsi for both of us. Dorit's dish came out minutes later along with the eggrolls, the sushi came out later. Dorit took a bite and her face changed to show complete delight. "Take a bit" she said, as she always does. "No", I said as I always do, "my dish will come out soon enough". "No", she insisted, "you got to try this". I did. She was right. The shrimp was delightful, tasty and flavorful. The chicken was soft and delicious. It was excellent. Then showed up the sushi. We live on the Pacific Ocean shore. Literally, not two miles away from the ocean. Plus we visited Japan, more than once. The sushi came with the usual condiments: preserved ginger (the natural color stuff, not the purple) and wasabi. I did what I always do: I took some wasabi and placed it in a bowl of soy sauce, stirred a little and dunked the first sushi piece in it. Delicious. The fish was fresh (tuna, salmon, and the shrimp replacement for the white fish I don't like), but what struck me most was the wasabi, which was two levels higher than the one we usually get elsewhere. It was plenty. Neither of us could finish the plates, it was that good. We took the leftovers home, and even though it's unlikely that we will eat them, we didn't want to offend our hosts. $60.00, generous tip included. And the most amazing conclusion: we decided that once in a while it's OK to drive 30 mules for a good lunch. Never happened before. read more

This is a must stop if you are in Chehalis! By far the best chicken fried rice I have ever had. All meals come with miso soup and a small salad. We also got the amazing sushi roll, which was delicious. The menu had a wide range of delicious looking items. From potsickers to fried rice, yakisoba, sushi and teriyaki. The portion for the fried rice was huge! The two of us barely put a dent in it. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Prices were very reasonable especially considering how much food we got. We had a great dinner! The food came quickly and was nice and hot. Fresh tasting and plenty of delicious flavors. The restaurant is clean inside, bathrooms are clean. No funny odors or grime build up. Seating was seat yourself and service was prompt. Only small issue was we were asked by head server what we wanted to drink and drinks didn't come. Had to ask again after food arrived. The sushi roll menu could use some updates, most of the rolls have the same ingredients +\- an ingredient. Only one fried roll, nothing with any real spice. My husband and I love sushi. It's one of our favorite date night dinner options. We've been to all sorts of sushi restaurants from California to Washington state. Unfortunately this by far is the worst one we have ever experienced . I want to start off with the positives. The service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant looked clean and the décor was pleasant. The meal starts with complimentary miso soup and a salad with a sweet style dressing ( not pictured) we were given time to have our meal and did not feel rushed at all. And upon first impressions most of the rolls were visually appealing. Now for the negative. The miso soup wasn't fresh and all the miso had settled in the bottom, the dressing on the salad had a unique taste almost like a sweet mayo with a vinegar finish. The Gyoza was obvious frozen and not fresh made. The rolls were of decent size however were messy and not properly rolled with sometimes clumps of rice just left on the plate or falling off because of them sitting in the sauce too long prior to service. The Kamikaze roll... A roll to truly die for! and not in a good way. We were both looking forward to this roll as it's one of our favorites however it lacked flavor of any kind. The fish was old and definitely not fresh and we suspect wasn't actually albacore as advertised. The sauce was none existent and the roll was surprisingly dry. The spicy tuna made us cry as it was very over processed and had no spice whatsoever. My husband and I resorted to adding Wasabi and the spicy ginger to compensate. The cherry blossom roll was by far the best which isn't saying much. The fish was pleasant and although the sauce may not have been ponzu as it tasted like a low sodium soy sauce with added sugar. Overall it wasn't bad. The Hawaiian roll was nothing like any Hawaiian roll I've had. And despite all the sauces . It also lacked a distinct flavor. The dragon roll was also a mess. Not sure its a good sign when serving sushi on aluminum foil. Within 15 minutes of finishing dining *which we did not dare eat the entire Kamikaze roll. My stomach made sounds that no one wants to hear and we both ended up with "bowel" issues if you get what i'm saying. BEWARE THE REVIEWS!!! Just because it's 4 star doesn't make it good or even safe. There are plenty of enjoyable sushi/Japanese restaurants throughout Washington state. This is most definitely not one of them. 1 STAR! read more

The food here is amazing, I went here with my partner who was visiting here from Texas!!! They grew up in Japan and haven't had decent sushi in forever. The service was so good, that the head chef came over and talked to us personally. It was so casual and nice. The ambiance is beautiful. The decor is great!! I got some salmon Sashimi (two plates!!) A rainbow roll, my partner got a cucumber roll and Salmon roe. Since we had dine-in, we got the free miso soup and salads as appetizers. Some of the best miso soup I've had and I've been to a lot of sushi places! I also got some strawberry Sake, since I turned 21 recently and had never had it. It was do good. "Sushi Night?" It is all one of us has to say for the other to respond with an enthusiastic "Yessss!" It's date night! This place is our favorite "night out" go-to local restaurant. Being in a small rural town doesn't offer many outstanding choices, but this is our favorite of the most mundane choices within 20 minutes of where we live. As others have mentioned, service can sometimes be slow - but it is because they are popular and busy. Most of the time almost every table and booth is filled with customers, in addition to the "To Go" orders being cranked out by staff in addition to the dine-in crowd. Yea, it means you might have to wait 5-10 minutes to be seated, but the fact that they are ALWAYS SERVING repeat customers who are devoted to this spot is a GOOD THING! Who wants to spend money on "fast but mediocre at best"food? Take a deep breath and relax. It is worth the wait. The 8 piece generous salmon Sashimi is my go-to dish, with a special request for a small bowl of sushi rice (cold, sticky and a hint of sweet vinegar). Every meal includes complimentary green salad and miso soup while you wait. Yes, I will still be coming here when I am 99 years old! The portions are EPIC IN MY OPINION. I am upset with myself for not trying it sooner... the presentation and service is as great as the sushi.. it is the ONLY sushi place we now go to in Lewis county .. we love that they serve you yummy salad and miso soup the minute you sit down.. nobody does this!!! We went tonight for the probably 4 th or 5 th time in 2 weeks... we got a nice window seat with an excellent show out the window at sunset... no filter at all! My only complaint is it's closed Monday.. we forgot that and had a temper tantrum at the door last Monday. But ok... since you are all sooooooo AMAZING... you can have a day off!!! The traditional chinese menu left something to be desired although the shrimp fried rice was above average. When she came back 10 minutes later, I had to ask if the other two salads were coming. After we ordered, the two people I was with received their food, I did not get mine. The waitress brought one set of chopsticks for three people. Our waitress never came back either. It took 20+ minutes to flag someone down to ask where my dish was. Apparently, the lady that took our orders didn't include mine. So we had to wait 10 to 15 minutes for my food to cook. No one ever came by to check how we were doing, to see if we needed anything, or to refill drinks. They were sure to bring us our bill though. I asked for a bag to put our boxes of leftovers. Never got that either. Definitely not somewhere I would go to sit down and enjoy a meal. Take out might be a better option, but be sure to make sure your order is complete before leaving. read more
