I've been coming to Sorell Salon (as has my dad) for the last 10 years, and part of the reason I keep coming back is because they give a great haircut! When I was living in Orlando, I went to an amazing salon in Winter Garden (and boy do I miss that place), so when I moved back up to Long Island, I was looking for some place just as amazing. I wish I could say Sorell lives up to the standards of the salon I went to in Florida, but even so, I've been really satisfied with the service and quality from Sorell over the last 10 years or so. Most recently, I've been getting my haircut with Omar. Stylists here never seem to last more than a few years, but I REALLY hope Omar does not leave anytime soon! He's by far the best stylist I've ever had for my hair for several reasons: (1) he is incredibly detail oriented, (2) he genuinely cares about giving you a great haircut, (3) he listens to what you want while also offering smart recommendations, and (4) he's overall a very nice guy (and great conversationalist). Seriously folks, keep Omar as long as you can! Aside from Omar, the rest of the staff here is great. What might throw you off at first is the fact that the receptionists always seem serious/stressed, yet they are usually friendly and always efficient. The lack of smiles might rub you the wrong way at first, but the staff really is helpful and friendly. Everyone keeps this place tidy and efficient. The other thing to keep in mind is that prices can be a bit steep. Personally I try to visit on the weekdays whenever possible. Sorell offers cheaper prices if you can make it for a haircut on a weekday. Weekends might give you some sticker shock (guys, not sure $40 is worth a haircut on a Saturday, even here; I do my best to avoid these hours). Still, the staff has always treated me right and my hair always comes out great (I even get compliments now and then thanks to Omar). A solid 4 stars for Sorell! read more

Sorell Salon was amazing for my wedding on 10/6/2018. I got my hair done in an updo and my three bridesmaids got their hair done half up half down. Rosie did my hair which was a complicated style and she did amazing. If you can book with her I would recommend it. Scheduling the appointments were easy. Service was great. Price was reasonable. Also the staff was on time which was super important considering I had an afternoon wedding. All of my girls had thick hair, some straight, some curly and the team was able to manage them all. Not 100% happy about my experience today .. debating returning. I booked my appointment a few days ago and was told I would be seen by a specific stylist who was "great". Little did I know that stylist was brand spanking new!!! It was obvious from the moment I sat down the stylist was new .. taking 20 minutes to mix my color because they "couldn't find something". I saw the stylist call 2-3 people for help in the meantime and saw the stylist next to me whispering something to her client about them. Which all made me uneasy from the moment I sat down .. to the point I contemplated leaving but felt bad!! My color isn't horrible .. thank god!!! It's decent but not exactly what I wanted. HOWEVER, still I paid over $300 for everything and was never told that this stylist didn't even have a chair designated to them! I watched them grab their stuff and actually set up their station right as I was supposed to have my hair cut! Everything was decent expect the blowout was horrific - I fixed it myself when I got home. All I have to say is this is ridiculously POOR business. All that needed to be said on the phone was "said stylist is new so it's up to you if you'd like to have such an intricate procedure done by them or if you'd like to wait for someone more seasoned" ( I told the receptionist exactly what I wanted done!) I paid the amount i would have paid had I had a stylist who was working for 20+ years, yet I had someone who continuously dropped things and was a little clueless at times. I got my hair and makeup done for my wedding at Sorell and my bridesmaids got their hair and makeup done also for my October wedding. Ellen did my makeup and she is AMAZING- she did such an incredible job and I looked flawless in photos. Best of all the makeup lasted from 1:00 pm until 2:00 am the next day! Roseanne did my hair and she also did a fantastic job, she really understood what I was going for and executed the updo perfectly. All of my bridesmaids looked amazing. As others noted the salon is incredibly busy and often times loud, but it didn't really bother me- I liked the "high energy" feel. They did a great job! THANK YOU SORELL! read more

There are some people at the front desk that may make you not want to come back. But if you can get through them it will be worth it to get your hair colored by Sharon. She is by far the best. Any time I got a cut after Sharon colored my hair the stylist comments wow who did your color, it's perfect, beautiful. read more

My sister, her 7 bridesmaids and I went to Sorell to get ready for my sister's wedding. All 9 of us got our hair done, and 7 of us also got our makeup done at Sorell. Everyone looked beautiful, and they were very accommodating. Michelle did my sister's hair, and she did a wonderful job. It looked polished and elegant. Lara did my hair. We went for an old Hollywood, romantic feel, and Lara was willing to make adjustments to ensure that my sister and I were both happy with the final result and that it would last the entire day. Everyone's makeup turned out great. They let us bring food and champagne, and even offered us a private back room. A wonderful experience overall. read more

I had (had being the operative word) been a loyal customer for three years. I loved the colorist that I had and all the girls that work there are very nice. However as the other reviewer stated ALL the people at the front desk make you want to NOT come back. This week I went for my usual color and cut. I made an appointment and asked for the girls I like to use. FOR SOME STUPID REASON, they insist on scheduling you two hours for color. I informed them that I had to leave FOR WORK, by 11:30 and they assured me I would be done by then even though they wouldn't give me 1.5 hours for coloring. So my haircut appt was made for 11:00. I of course was done with my coloring at 10:20. I patiently waited until 11:00, but the girl I had the appt with had just started the never ending blow out from hell at 10:50 and as of 11:29 was STILL NOT DONE!!!. In that entire half hour the only thing I ( a loyal 3 year customer remember) was offered by the desk staff was "someone else to do my hair"! Not "how about we reschedule and squeeze you in tomorrow ( a Saturday) and of course the haircut is on us, because you have been waiting at this point over an hour" NOPE, I WASN'T OFFERED A DAMN THING FROM THESE PEOPLE. AND I WOULDN'T GO BACK THERE IF THEY PAID ME TO GET MY HAIR DONE. HEY LADIES THAT WORK THE DESK, FYI AN "I'M SORRY, WHAT CAN WE DO FOR YOU?" WOULD GO A LONG WAY.
