Hidden gem if you like spicy mala hot pot. Yes, it is spicy even at the 3 rating out of 5, so be careful when you specify the spicy rating. Also, this is one of a few King County health ratings = Excellent, which I think is impressive given all the raw ingredients are available for everyone to take to build the pot. After you choose the soup or sauce base, you then walk through the ingredient aisle to take whatever you want from veggies to meats. After you pay per weight, you ho back to your table and wait for 5 minutes or so. Then they will bring out to you fully cooked Hotpot on a small stove to keep it hot. Overall experience was great. Food was great. Too bad the location is not the best otherwise this place will be packed all the time. Compared to Boiling Pot this place delivers a real punch.

Rose mala xiang guo - IG @bougiefoodieboi

I went here for a Monday lunch and there was a good amount of parking in the plaza and lots of empty tables. Monday to Thursday 11-4 they have 15% off everything which was a nice surprise when I went in. This place is mostly known for the pay by the pound self-serve ingredients for mala, but Korean style. They have 2 types - malatang (broth) and mala xiang guo (stir fry). I tried the mala xiang guo variation since I've had malatang before. I got the rose mala xiang guo since I love the creamy flavor of the rose that I've had from rose tteokbokki, etc. It's nice that they had small crab, scallops, shrimp, octopus, lamb, and beef as some nice options alongside veggies, noodles, and various beef and fish and other seafood balls. The balls may not be the best value as they're heavy but I still got one of each since I love them in hot pot and such, and this is no different. But I got some crab in there to offset the value. $18.99 per pound can be pricey if you're not careful and end up getting like 2 lbs or more. It doesn't help the bowl is huge so you get the false perception you're not putting much. I ended up getting almost 1.5lbs so somewhat pricey order, but thankfully it was 15% off so it was more manageable. But the amount of food I got was enough for 1.5 meals. They do enforce a 1 lb minimum which is more than reasonable since they do the preparations to order. I love the rose mala xiang guo and the dipping sauces. One thing that could be better is the Korean vermicelli was a bit overcooked so while soft but not mushy, it was torn into pieces so it was hard to eat those by chopstick. Otherwise, great food and flexibility to your liking. Service is good as the staff was helpful and showed me how the place works as it's my first time. They were accommodating when I needed to leave after a short period of time and got the check and takeout boxes very quickly. I'll come back to try the other mala variations and hopefully enjoy the full dining experience from start to finish.

This is a great ma la tang restaurant where you pick the food you want, select a broth, and they cook it for you. You pay by weight depending on how much food you want. Minimum is 1 lb per pot. I love the variety of noodles, vegetables, seafood, meats, dumplings that they offer. Food is excellent especially if you like spicy soup. The restaurant looks very clean and the staff is super friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Third time's a charm! Staff is always friendly and helpful. Love the food I got in my third visit here! The original Mala Xiangguo was super flavorful with level 1 spiciness. It was enjoyably spicy with a nice touch of sweet from the first to the last bite. Highly recommended this spicy level for Mala Xiangguo. For ingredient wise, I love the thin rice noodles, they could absorb all the sauce and flavor and went so well with rice, they were the best in my plate. Enoki mushrooms with the similar structure were tasty too. I was a bit hesitate to come back here as I thought nothing really special here, but I guess I've changed my mind after tonight since I found my best combo. My boyfriend ordered Xiangguo with tomato flavor this time because he had PTSD from last visit, and he said it was tasty too.

I was recommended this Korean malatang restaurant and it did not disappoint! The restaurant is spacious with lots of tables. The vibe is casual and not too loud when I was there, making it suitable for conversation. Right after getting seated, we were given a huge bowl each to choose our ingredients. There are lots to choose from: meat, vegetables, mushroom and seafood. Next you choose your mala broth and spice level. The ingredients then get weighted and cooked. There's also a sauce bar with different sauce recipes for you to try out. The ingredients and sauce bar were well stocked and clean. The food came very fast. I got the rose mala xiang guo sauce and it was so delicious and flavorful! It goes very well with the sauces from the sauce bar. We also got the pork guabaorou, and it was crispy and light, not greasy. The staff was very nice and helpful. I can't wait to come back soon.

We came here on a Monday afternoon as we saw a foodie video on IG. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The restaurant was spacious and had vibrant colors. We enjoyed the hot food in the raining weather. The guobaorou was especially delicious! Note there were 5 spicy levels to choose from, and we thought 1 was already pretty satisfying spicy for us, which was good. Parking was easy as there was a parking lot.

Insta hype did not live this place down! Upon walking in, there's a self serve station of many fresh ingredients to choose from and when you take it to the cashier area, they ask what type of soup and spice level. We got their shrimp appetizer to start with and got one rose malaxianguo and regular Mala, both at spicy level 2. I would say this spice level was like a shin ramen and I wish I would've went with 3 for that extra kick. Everything we ordered was so good and this is so perfect for the cold weather in Seattle! 10/10 recommend

I love that you pay by weight and have so many ingredients to choose from - great variety and good prices too. The mala soup is delicious, and you can pick your own spice level. For me, level 2 was plenty spicy! The service was great as well. It was our first time, and they were super helpful in explaining everything. I'm so glad this restaurant opened near my house! There are so many other menu items I want to try. I might've visited on a slower day because some of the veggies weren't super fresh, but I'm definitely coming back to try the dry pot next time!

Thrilled to see a new mala tang spot in town! I love the convenience of choosing your own ingredients and customizing portion sizes. I opted for the mala tang at spice level 3, which definitely packed a punch--so if you're not great with heat, I'd suggest starting at level 1. The cream shrimp guobaorou was fantastic--super crispy with a deliciously balanced sauce. The mala mayo fried rice was also a standout, providing some welcome relief from the spice. Service was excellent; the staff was attentive, frequently checking in, and keeping the sauce and self-serve areas clean. I especially appreciated that we never had to ask for water refills--they were always on it. There were also disposable bibs available at the sauce bar. The only downside was the tables, which felt a bit small and flimsy, so just be careful with the soups and Xiang guo bowls--they're a bit slippery and could easily tip over. Overall, a great experience, and I'll definitely be back!

I finally found a place that has a spicy level to match my taste! The vegetables were so fresh and the sauce was good. Staff was caring and attentive, spending time to explain thru the menu to me. Like they said here: "cooling your stress". Who knew a level 5 spicy could cool down your stress that easy.

Had the normal malatang level 4 spice and the rose. Food was good and service was good and attentive. Sauce bar was good as well! Recommend!

Great malatang! We had a great experience here! Had the normal level 4 spice, was hot but tasty. We also had the rose and it was really tasty!

Once you've had malatang, you will be addicted. Ever since I got back from Korea, it has become my top food and I love that Sorimmara is most similar to the experience in Korea. I've been here around 3 or 4 times this year and it has gotten better since when they first opened. The service is always friendly. I love that their peppercorn flavor is stronger than other malatang places and their spicy is actually burn ur booty spicy. I was constantly gulping down water at level 4, but I like my food very spicy. I usually go for level 3 now, but 2 is around as spicy as shin ramen. My favorite is just the regular malatang (soup), but my guy friends prefer the rose mala xiang guo. The space is very open and spacious.

    Malatang 2 star
    Phoebe C.

We got the malatang and they give you warning that a two star is equivalent to Shin Ramen, so keep that in mind! The portions are huge and recommend sharing since their minimum requirement is 1 pound. The quality of the ingredients were pretty good and it definitely had that mala flavor. The service was amazing, it was her first time there and they walked us through everything. They also speak Korean, so if you have trouble, they should be able to help! There's plenty of seating and the place is pretty clean. There is limited parking so also something to keep in mind. If you are a spice lover, this is a great place!

I have dined here before so the interiors isn't too different just small changes. Let's jump to the food- I ordered the galbitang and it came with 10 different banchan. Which is a nice surprise since some restaurants aren't as generous in the banchan. The galbitang was so flavorful for a "clear" soup and the meat was tender. It also included a good portion of meat. I've tried galbitang at other places, but there was an umami that many didn't have. All the banchan were flavorful too, I thought the kimchi had a good balance as sometimes it can be a bit on the saltier side. Service was great too, the sever was friendly and checked often. When I went, it was just me then a couple arrived. There was a delay with their order so she provided some mandu on the house while their order was being prepared. Once they received their order, I heard the couple tell the sever that everything was very good multiple times- their food did look good! I recommend checking this place out especially with the new ownership. Menu looks similar from previous owners, but will for sure go back and try something else!

They had plenty of seating and we were able to fit our group of 6 into a booth. While they only have one grill per table, when the fire is turned on, it is really high so things cook so quickly! They have a couple of different tiers of options, but my family loves galbi so we opted for the premium tier ($45). The mid tier (I believe $35) you can go serve yourself all of the meat, but the premium meats are brought out. We tried galbi, ribeye and scallops from the premium menu, which were all tasty (the galbi pieces were large and marinated well, ribeye was nice and red, and scallops while small, came in the shell). Most of the sides and meats are self service which is also nice. They have many different side dishes (including cheese corn!), different pickled veggies, garlic, lettuce, sauces, and the meats and some seafood like shrimp and squid were self serve including a nice cold meat refrigerator for the thin slices such as brisket and belly. They even have a hot bar that I didn't try with various fried foods. They also had oranges, and my favorite - a self serve soft serve ice cream station! Yum! There were also yogurt drinks at the end. It is a lovely place that I think it is mom and pop - we had a sweet lady as our server and she was nothing but smiles. Things can get busy so it took some time for our premium meats to come out but no worries as there were plenty of self serve things to eat while we were waiting. Everything is a set price (lunch is cheaper and dinner has the regular plus premium prices). The server comes right away with 2 waters, 2 rice, and tongs and scissors for the meat. He asked us which option we want and that everything is at the buffet to get and you cook it yourself! It was a little confusing bc the menu options say what you get but you can't remember when you get up to the buffet area and get what you want. Everything at the buffet area was pretty much good to take!! It would be nice if the menu options were there at the buffet area. They did have beef brisket and angus beef brisket but we didn't get those cuz we thought it was the premium price and they were in a freezer or fridge of some sort locked so you have to unlock to wait 5 seconds or something. They had a good assortment of veggies including pickled radish and kimchi! They also had free seaweed snacks and an ice cream machine (vanilla only)! The tables where you cook the meat, the grills need to be replaced at least once bc they tend to scorch but it's nice they have air vents above to keep the air and such circulated. Staff is nice, but there's only 2-3 of them. They do check but sometimes you need to flag them if you want something else like a beverage other than water or to change the grill. One day, lightning struck a tree, causing a massive forest fire that killed many animals. Our ancestors then discovered that cooked meat tasted much better than raw meat. This is why roast meat has always been regarded as an important part of the human diet. Today I gathered with friends and chose this barbecue restaurant. It's located north of Redmond, with a prominent sign and plenty of parking. Ambiance: The decor is creative, but it feels quite contradictory. Barbecue is inherently a very "Jianghu" (lively, rough-and-tumble) kind of thing, yet the restaurant leans toward an artistic, literary style. When I used to run my own restaurant, I followed a principle: avoid anything unrelated to the core dining experience. Seeing many books on the shelves here, I understand they're trying to bridge Jianghu and artistry -- but it clearly feels out of place. That said, the place is very clean, and the stickers/decorations are festive. Service: My high rating for this restaurant is largely based on the service. After we sat down, we were given free appetizers -- braised peanuts, which tasted great. The staff training is very professional, whether it's taking orders, making recommendations, attending to us during the meal, or checking on tables and refilling water. All excellent. Taste: Jianghu-style cuisine is characterized by boldness, satisfaction, and not sweating the small details. We ordered spicy hot pot (Malatang), spicy hot pot skewers, grilled beef, lamb, chicken gizzards, oysters, and many other items. First, the Malatang and spicy skewers tasted almost identical, so it felt like eating the same thing. The grilled skewers were just average -- neither good nor bad. The oysters were very tasty. However, the shrimp in the spicy skewers were very unfresh, which was disappointing. "By the way, the prices at 'Friendship Skewers' are anything but friendly -- I think it's quite overpriced overall."
