Best kimchi, kimbap, and banchan in Seattle! I'm a fan of kimchi. Like eat a quart of it every 2-3 days, my Ma's Korean girlfriends wondering if I'm part Korean, offering to throw down with friends to take over the banchan when we go out to eat kind of love. In Jung's, I've finally found fresh kimchi that tastes like my Ma and Korean aunties made. Oi sobagi and kimbap are faves and the owner makes them perfectly. The oi is crunchy, right level of peppers, and totally yummers. The kimbap is my go-to on-the-go lunch. She makes it with that amazing blend of seasame oil, salt, danmuji, egg. Mellow and nutty and with that sharp bite from the radish... augh! She has refrigerators stocked with fresh makings. Only closed on Tuesdays. A must visit. I'm getting hungry just writing this. Although small interior there are many variety of dishes. Staff was friendly. Got a variety of banchan including an eggplant dish that was recommended. Eggplant was very tender with a sauce that highlighted its natural flavor without overpowering it. Loved the various textures and flavor variations from the banchan especially the fish cake and seaweed salad. Would be nice if containers had a best by date since some last longer than others. read more

A small hole in the wall corner mart that sells Korean Banchan, and kimbap to order. We ordered two rolls of kimbap to go, she made them fresh for us & we also got the radish kimchi & garlic stems. When I first heard about Jung's, I knew I had to try it because I love banchan side dishes. It's nice having a place so close by to me without having to go all the way to H Mart, even though H Mart is much cheaper. I prefer how H Mart prices containers by how much they weigh. I know this would be too much for this small business to handle, so hopefully they use some methods to make sure containers of the same item weigh similarly. The eggplant dish is a definite must try! It's very flavorful and saucy. Everything else I bought also tasted great: potatoes with jalapeños and carrots, spicy fish cakes, and seaweed mix. There are so many more items to try, including a lot of different meats, but I haven't tried anything with meat from here. I noticed some dishes were packed in different sized containers, but the price difference wasn't indicated anywhere. The individual containers don't have pricing labels either, so it was hard for me to keep track of how much I was spending after I stacked everything I wanted to eat. I loved most of items I got and am a huge fan of the kimchi! For me, the taste is just right- not too salty, fresh tasting and lots of umami. Least favorite was the kimbap, this batch was dry for me and just alright. I went back to the store after someone recommend to try the eggplant because it was delicious. It was a 10min wait because it was still being made but it was definitely worth the wait! So flavorful and whatever they put on top is so yummy. Be sure to pick this up if it's in the stock! The ladies that work there are also so nice. Such a nice small business with really tasty banchan! My daughter stumbled up Jung's Kitchen while searching online. What a great find! If you love Korean food, give this place a try. Owner is warm and friendly. TONs of options from kimchi to braised eggs. Save time and money. My daughter typically makes these sides and it cost her much more to buy all the ingredients. It's a neat little Ban Chan shop run by two nice ladies. It may be a bit hard to find because it's tucked into the crook of the "L" shaped strip mall. The things that you find here are the wonderful side dishes that fill the refrigerators of Korean homes and restaurants to accompany the main dishes. The Kelp Noodle Salad and their Eggplant are outstanding. Jung's Kitchen is a gem and I wish them success and longevity. read more

I came by because I saw the great reviews on Yelp and was not disappointed! It's hidden in the corner of the plaza and when you walk in, you just see 2 Korean ladies restocking the banchan options. They have a ton of options and seem to make different things every once in awhile. My favorite was the anchovies ($9.99) and fish cake $6.99). The japchae was my least favorite. Kimbap was excellent. Fresh rice with crispy seaweed. The kimchi at first disappointed me with its sweetness and freshness, but it ripened PERFECTLY after 8 days in the fridge into the best kimchi I've had in years. Easily the best in Seattle. It developed strong yeasty effervescence with sugars that faded into the aftertaste, without being too tart. I guess it makes sense to sell the "fresh" version since not everyone likes the deeply fermented kind. Be assured that you can age it to your liking. read more

A wonderful hidden gem. I loved randomly stopping into this spot. They have an assortment of Korean banchan amongst other things like meats, soups. We ended up getting a bunch of things: bean sprouts, braised potatoes, potato salad, fishcakes, fresh kimchi, egg roll thing with nori and imitation crab, pork bulgogi, gimbap, and a sweet rice drink. Everything was delicious, although I've give a special shout out to the sweet rice drink, bulgogi, braised potatoes and the kimchi! The lady working there is so sweet and friendly. I noticed they seem to offer catering and had a lot of thing reserved and set to the side that didn't seem available to the grab and go section. I'll have to check that out sometime. read more

I'm SO excited this place finally opened! This is a Korean food side dish (banchan) store. You can get all sorts of Korean kimchis, not just the napa cabbage kind. They have water kimchi and radish kimchi too. They have other cold side dishes like eggplant, seaweed salad, bean sprouts, and zucchini. They have soups and porridges. They also sell marinated pork and beef Korean barbecue that you can cook at home. They also have some pan-fried meat patties and egg with veggies. And I was super excited to see the sweet rice drink Sikhye just like my grandma used to make. They also cater. I knew about this place because they catered our wedding years ago and everyone loved the food. We have had other family gatherings catered by them over the years and have never been disappointed. I went in to get some Kim chi and potato salad this afternoon. The price point is a little high for 2 items, $18.00. They didn't have the Kim chi in the plastic container so I had to ask the lady if she had some. She didn't respond and quickly went to the back. I wasn't sure if she was going to come back but she did with the container. She quickly rang up the 2 items without a word. I was excited having banchan store nearby. They want to concentrate on catering and weekly orders. I used weekly and they gave me banchans in a box for $100 and some of the banchans were not my favorite that didn't eat and it can be wasting. They never post menus in advance for the week. I visited several times to get some but wasn't much choices. Some of the items on the counter were for catering that she stopped me from getting it. Banchan takeout hole in the wall. Came first time today. They've been open for 3 months. Prices are a little high ($6) for basic banchan like a container of soybean sprouts but food is fresh. The pancakes ($20) is too expensive, it was really dry. But the eggplant banchan is super, duper good. $10 is still a little steep but worth the splurge. The most perfect hidden gem in all of Seattle if you ask me. Lots of delicious banchan to go and take home meals. I literally have dreams about their fresh kimchi-- I stop in once a week to make sure I always have some in my fridge. I love this place. I got braised Kodari, fishcake, skate fish, pancakes and braised soybean. The Kodari was so good. I want to go back and buy. The pancake was dry and for 19 dollars, it's not worth it. The price is on the higher side but again, it tastes way better than H mart. Great place to get a wide assortment of delicious Korean side dishes and kimchis! Two lovely emos (aunties) with a lot of experience in the restaurant biz do all the cooking. The braised eggplant is definitely the standout, as all the reviews have noted. I also loved the fiddlehead ferns, which are hard to find. Hubby inhaled the sweet and spicy fried baby anchovies, which was his favorite. Can't wait to try the yookgyejang (spicy beef and fiddlehead fern soup) and beef wooguhjitang (dehydrated cabbage and beef soup). I was feeling SOOO sad that Nara a couple doors down rebranded into a teriyaki place, no longer selling the jjajangmyun that I love. As I was driving away, I noticed this shop was still open. I walked in to find so many delicious, down-home Korean staples: myulchi bokkeum, mayak eggs, ox bone soup (the really creamy and white kind!), not to mention the many different types of kimchi! The ajumma was so nice, it sounds like business is good. Please give them a visit if you want authentic banchan and kimchi! The eggplant side dish is my very favorite! We use them for catering and I stock up on banchan when I know my family has a busy week. There's really good variety here, and I've never tried, but they said that if you call ahead in the morning, they'll make Korean food off menu for people to pick up at the end of the day. read more
