I ordered the pad kee mao with chicken and my partner got the curry chicken. I thought that the pad kee mao was standard, I would have enjoyed it if it was made with broad noodles as opposed to noodles that you use for pad thai but taste wise was okay. The curry on the other hand was pretty good, I liked it more than my dish. This place was in my bookmarks and I am content that I was able to visit another spot on my list.

We ordered the red curry and spicy chicken. Both were terrible and we only ate a bit. Threw the rest away. Sauces were completely tasteless, watery, oily and chicken was chewy. Rice was hard. Containers were not closed tight and leaked. Everyone is saying to support local restaurants. How about the restaurants trying harder to make some tasty food! So disappointed in Sorn Thai.

The reason I love Thai food is their clever use of different spices and herbs to create the 5 different taste sweet, sour, bitter, spicy and salty. Sorn Thai Restaurant is a sad example of Thai food. I tried: Sorn Combination Platter ($13.95) and Thai Spicy Noodle ($10.45) were both blend tasting. I requested to have my Noodle extra spicy and it still came out flat and one dimensional: salty. Serioulsy, my friend order a Beef in Oyster Sauce ($13.95) at that price point is insanely overpriced! The only thing good is their Singha and their polite service. Now I know why I haven't been to Sorn Thai as yet. And I sure did not miss anything.

3.5/5, +.5 for service Sorn Thai was listed as one of the best Thai restaurants in Toronto outside downtown. It isn't one of the most transit accessible places (subway passes underneath without stopping and nearest station is 20 min walk away), but it's manageable via the 97 Yonge bus. This place is extremely busy once past 12pm. I arrived at around 12:15pm and got one of the last small tables, but we were completely full by 12:30pm. They only have the lunch special menus available at that time, but you can ask for the full menu if needed (but let's be honest, the lunch special stuff has most of the items you need already). I ordered the pad thai. It's a Thai restaurant, why not? It also came with a piece of spring roll, which tasted quite good. The pad thai is a little different here compared to other Thai places; it has more of a lemon-y sour taste instead of the usual sweeter kinds that's common in Khao San Road, Sukho Thai, etc. Personally I preferred the sweeter kind, but that's just me. I still enjoyed the pad thai overall, and the portions here are larger than the ones in downtown! Service was great and efficient, considering the lunch crowd. They manage to adhere to everyone's requests including the take out folks with only 3 servers, which was quite impressive.

    $9 - #15 - Thai Hot & Sour Soup. Very bad. Don't order.

Honestly, the quality has gone down over the years. I was there today and was disappointed with the quality of food. Sure, the service was great - 10/10, but the food was bad. Whoever is in the kitchen is not inspired, is probably underpaid and doesn't care. It shows. I'm never going back here ever again. You've lost a customer who loves Thai food, but this place is no longer an option for me.

DO NOT EAT HERE!! This is the giant twig that lodged itself down my throat when I took a bite of the spring roll

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!! If I could give this restaurant zero I would I just took a bite of my spring roll and inside was a giant twig which lodged itself down my throat when I pulled it out I then threw up I called the restaurant and they accuse me of thinking it was bamboo so I thought I would add a photo just to show you.

Solid Thai restaurant on Yonge. We searched for this on yelp and were quite happy with the results. We had a decent sized group here and so we had the opportunity it's to test a variety of their dishes out. Starting off with their Thai appetizer plate (satay, spring rolls, fresh rolls, fried shrimp, salad) with satay sauce and a sweet honey. Something for everyone and delicious. Then we went with their som tam (green papaya salad) it had a great tangy lime flavour well seasoned and a generous serving. We also ordered a chicken curry, Thai fried rice and pad Thai. Overall everything was fragrant, that great mix of tang, sweet, salty and definitely worth coming back. Pro tip*** if you like spice ask for some prik nam pla. Or nam prik. It's a great condiment to spice up your meal and add that extra zing for those who can take some more heat. Overall pleasant service and great Thai food!

Ordered take out from Sorn Thai. I have to say I was impressed with the flavours. The mango salad was delicious and had a good blend with peppers and green onions. The dressing was very light too. Good serving size. The pad Thai wasn't as spicy as I was used too, but had plenty of flavour and they did not skimp on the tofu as a protein. I would order from here again.

Hot and sour soup with hair in it!

This is apparently the "go to" place in this upscale neighbourhood but I will never return again! I ordered soup to go. I'm enjoying my soup not even half way threw it and I found a dark black hair in it. There's no way it could have been mine because I have red hair! I'm absolutely repulsed and annoyed!

Our server, Sophia, was bubbly and friendly, giving suggestions and helping with the ordering process for the other person who wasn't as sure what they wanted. We eventually went with two appetizers and two entrees, which was more than enough food, and honestly, we could have only ordered one appetizer. The better of the two appetizers was the CAD 8.95 Hand Shredded Pepper Chicken/手撕椒麻雞/Shou Si Ji. The dish consists of cold chicken in a flavorful sauce, topped with some greens. The chicken was tender, with a mild, pleasant spice and a bit of numbingness from the Sichuan peppercorns, along with some fragrance, presumably from sesame oil. It reminded me a bit of salivating chicken you find in some Szechuan spots, but it was more aromatic and a bit less spicy. The other appetizer was the Steamed Edamame/岩鹽毛豆 with Himalayan pink salt for CAD 5.95. The other person chose between this and the vegetable dumplings, as he avoids pork, and it was, of course, lighter than the other appetizer. The decent portion of edamame was topped with some pickled carrots as a garnish. My main dish was the Braised Beef Noodles/紅燒牛肉面/Hong Shao Niu Rou Mian. The dish included several options, including size, noodle style, and spice level. I chose the large for CAD $20.95, medium spice, and for the noodle style, I chose flat/宽面, as it was closest to the prism style I like at Lanzhou spots in the States. Along with these, I also added a tea egg for an extra CAD 2.95. Outside the add-on, the dish also had a couple of large slices of radish. Compared to some spots in NYC, I slightly preferred the QQ/bouncy texture of the noodles at a spot near me. However, the broth was better here with a balanced amount of mala, though I would likely order spicy next time, as I tend to add chili oil to the relatively lighter Lanzhou broths. The beef was also much better, being tender with a mild chew regardless of whether it was tendon or other cuts. The tea egg was flavorful and worth the add-on, especially when the inside was dipped further into the broth. I can see why others order this. The other person went with the Signature Stir-fried Noodles/招牌炒面/Chao Tatiaozi. There was an option of protein, and he went with Chicken for $17.95 and added the same egg. I tried a bit, and there was a pleasant pepperiness with a bit of numbing flavor, but less than my dish. The noodles had a good bounciness and overall had a slightly better chewiness than mine. This was lighter overall, but also tasty. This spot has apparently come to the US already at the Mall of America, and I would love it if there were a location closer to me. Good place.

We decided to walk up to Queen Street to see something we hadn't seen and seemed like a good area with a wide variety of restaurants. I was almost writing this review for the one on Dundas Street, but realized there are a few locations in downtown. Glad I double checked. We walked up along Spadina to Queen, not all the way up to Dundas. We were weighing options, but we were unsure what we wanted and struggled. We almost ended up at another restaurant with live music outside, but we weren't being served and wasn't enthusiastic about their menu. So, we looked at a couple of options. We didn't want Chipotle or Chick Fil-A; I can get that anytime as I live near those in Maryland. Also, I wanted cuisine that was harder to find near where I live. Ultimately, we settled on Mogouyan Hand-Pulled Noodles. After a lot of hunger trying to decide, this ended up being an excellent choice. Server was friendly answering our questions. It was moderately priced. We got their hand-pulled noodles, which was a large bowl, and was delicious with beef, veggies, & plenty of noodles. I also got their Japanese Toki brand whiskey. This was a FINE choice at a reasonable price. We got into some conversation with the server about being from the US and various other topics. This was an excellent experience, highly recommend.
