Located in a hip, high traffic area, this BKK has lot of foot traffic. And unfortunately, my opinion is this operation is cruising on the location. The pricing is mid end compared to the competing businesses, but the food does not taste the 4-star rating. The portion for pad thai was generous. Impressed! I ordered the following items for take out. #1. Pad Kee Mao(Beef, Spicy): Loved the texture of the flat rice noodle. Bouncy, not over cooked. Leaves the chewy bouncy texture even when it was take-out. The beef was tender, perfect thick/thinness and integrates so well with the noodle's texture. The distinct spice sensation hits gradually and gently, not overpowering other flavors. The overall taste was simple, subtle yet deep. The dish looks ordinary but tastes exceptionally. #2. Karee Soft Shell Crab We tried many different places that serve this menu. EAT BKK is the best so far. Many places that we had tried before had heavy "crab flavored" gravy with one or a few small skinny pieces of soft shell crabs. But here at EAT BKK, the crabs were meaty, generous and less gravy. Got take out from this restaurant and when I saw the containers, I thought they looked pretty small. However, I was definitely proven wrong because they were packed full and I couldn't even finish 1 dish by myself. We tried the Pad kee Mao with crispy pork, Pad kaprao kai Dao with chicken, and the Islamic noodle with braised beef. We ordered them at either the mild or medium spicy level. The mild was really no spice, but the medium had a great kick. All the dishes tasted amazing, but my favourite out of the three was the Islamic noodle. The noodles had really good texture and the medium spice level was on point! There were even two more spicier levels to choose from. I may give that a try next time, but I felt the medium spice level struck a good balance. read more

So having declared Chiang Rai the best thai food in Markham and Isaan Der the best thai place in Richmond Hill, my gf and I were on the hunt for some thai food again in North York after a summer yelp event nearby. And would you happen to know, we stumbled on the best thai place in North York! Tucked away next to Hero Burger at Yonge and Sheppard in a tiny unit which stretches back. You walk in and the ventilation is not great haha (it's quite humid). The drinks are definitely way more worth it in terms of value compared to it's other counterparts (they're big). I ordered a thai iced green tea and it was very refreshing! Not sweet at all. Crispy pork pad thai: It's not often you find crispy pork belly as an option for pad thai at places, so we opted to try. The pork was crackly, succulent and fatty. The noodles were nice and strong on the tamarind flavour. This was a great pad thai. Si Lom Thai Bistro (downtown) is the only other thai place I know that has a unique protein option (soft shell crab) for pad thai. Khao soi w/ chicken (mild): The broth is really, really good here. That being said, does it beat the broth at Pai Northern Thai (downtown) or Isaan Der's in Richmond Hill? Nahh. One tier below hehe. They put a lot of chicken in it though. So that's bonus marks. Service was excellent! There was always at least 1 server wandering around to collect empty plates/dishes and provide extra utensils/napkins. The other thing I absolutely loved was 15% CASH DISCOUNT. But we made a decision and paid for parking already so we stayed to eat. We were seated at the front table and instantly noticed how incredibly sticky the table was! It's probably made by 3M. It's probably the best thai food you can get around North York (Yonge and Sheppard) area. It's always very busy here as they have limited sitting. They are open during COVID for take-out only. they close at 10pm , but last call is around 9:30pm If it's your first time, I recommend you order their Pad Thai, the meat does not come with it. For +$2.50, you can add chicken or beef. shrimp is more expensive. Their other noodle dishes Pad kee mao and Pad sew ewe is also pretty good, but Pad thai is better. Their curry is so so, if you choose mild curry there isn't much taste to it. Medium is better but you will need to handle some spice. read more

It took awhile for the waitress to take our order but after that, they were attentive and refilled our water 3 times throughout the meal. The waitress was also very friendly and the staff were very nice. The food was amazing. This is the best Pad Thai I've had and the mango sticky rice was so incredibly flavourful! The Pad See Ew stayed super hot throughout the entire meal. All prices were affordable too, which is another plus. Great! Hits the spot and a great place to come for a really quick bite. Food arrived incredibly fast for us. Everything was really flavourful but oh my gosh so salty. I could down an entire glass of water with each bit of food. The Khao soi poutine could be balanced out with more of the cheese curds which offer a nice break from the incredible amount of salt. I did enjoy the pad Thai a lot. Very flavourful and chewy. I would recommend! We didn't bother to add meat to ours because it cost additional and we were getting beef in our other dishes. My friend recommended this little hole in the wall Thai place and it did not disappoint. It's pretty small so I could see it filling up fast. I'm told the menu is Thai street food but since I haven't had the fortune to visit Thailand yet, I can't confirm. They have a decent list of weekday lunch specials (didn't notice if it was weekends too), about 10 options, where you get a soup and two spring rolls. I ordered the crispy basil pork belly. I thought it was delicious - the pork was actually still crispy, in a (perhaps tiny bit too) salty soy based sauce - the plain steamed rice was a perfect accompaniment. Under the Night Market section I chose the Basil Braised Beef Kai Dao which was Braised beef stir-fried Chinese style with peppers and onions with a side of white rice and fried egg. To be honest maybe I missed that dish in Bangkok but I've never seen it at the night markets. Regardless, it felt like a Chinese dish to me more than Thai. The flavours are good I just expected something else. What surprised me the most is that this dish was cold. Maybe they were busy but even your white rice is cold? The warmest thing I had was the Chicken Pad Thai which was just warm and was okay. Overall food wise and the presentation is there but the temperature and flavours just aren't. Their menu is a bit different from the other location but I didn't expect such a different experience. I'd come back again but I'd much prefer the other location. Came here with some friends one night for dinner. The restaurant wasn't too busy but there is very limited parking. I ordered the Basil Crispy Pork Kai Dao (thumbs upped by the restaurant) and a Thai Iced Tea. Service is friendly, and orders went through quickly. The meat were bite sized pieces of pork belly fried briefly first I think, before it's stir-fried with the basil and other ingredients/sauce/seasonings. Fragrant and savoury, the meat and vegetables goes well with rice and fried egg. I thought it was quite true to the food you would find in Thailand (though at Toronto prices). Milk tea was great! We've ordered from this place twice for Thai food during lunch, and have tried a variety of different options. Overall, it's a pretty good takeout place, but it does take some time to prepare. Vegetarian Fresh Rolls: These rolls have a decent amount of filling - there's some tofu, carrots, cucumber, vermicelli, etc. It's a pretty plump roll, and the best part is the peanut dipping sauce! Mango Salad: This is not your typical take on a mango salad. The thick mango slices come on a bed of lettuce, and are well marinated in a spicy sauce. It's quite interesting, and very delicious! Papaya Salad: I ordered this with salted crab, and medium spicy. It came dressed generously in a fish sauce dressing, and was quite good! The portion size is perfect for a main. There are no crab pieces - the salted crab is mainly the shell of the crab joints. Chicken Satay: These skewers are quite meaty and generous; I believe it's 4 skewers to an order. It comes with the same peanut dressing as the fresh rolls. The chicken is well marinated and has a great flavour! Green Curry: This curry is very rich in and fragrant with coconut milk flavour. We got vegetarian with tofu both times, and it's a great flavour. Amazing sauce for soaking rice! Panang Curry: We ordered this curry with chicken with medium spice. It was delicious! A resounding favourite of the team. The flavour is complex but well balanced and rounded. It's not particularly strong in coconut flavour, but yummy nevertheless! Coconut Sticky Rice: This came in a flat square portion wrapped in a piece of foil wrap. I didn't even realize that this was the rice! It's slightly sweet due to the coconut milk, but very delicious and sticky. I loved it! Overall, a decent and solid option for Thai food. Their morning glory is like tempura version. So if you are expecting traditional stir fried version, don't order it. But if you are into some food adventure, try it. The pad Thai was on the Sweet-side and the noodles too soft. We got beef in the pad Thai, it was a little too chewy. The red curry was delicious but the green curry lacked flavour and spicy ir chicken wings were great! The mango sticky rice dessert was a bit disappointing, mangos were not sweet and the rice too soft. Sadly, the pork belly was so dried and hard. Nothing crispy at all, but maybe the rice all the side? The white rice was hard and cold and undercooked. Thai rice is one of my favorite rice and this is just disappointing. Thai Spicy request was met with a lazy effort from the Kitchen by just throwing a spoonful of dried chili on top. (I wish for fresh chili or the seed of fresh chili) Luckily Fried Morning Glory saved the day! This is probably the only dish I would have ordered next time. Papaya Salad over Morning Glory Fritter. Wow! This maybe the best Thai food I have had in Toronto. Went here on a Saturday night and the place was packed. The staff was friendly and got our group of 7 seated across a few tables. The place is fairly small and probably on seats around 40-50 ppl. We tried the mango salad app which tasted so good. The Larb chicken wings were some of the best wings I have ever had. The pad Thai was so flavorful. These three dishes were the best things we had and were very authentic. We also had the Khao Sounds and soft shelled crab. My lazy night, so I ordered delivery from here. I must say this restaurant is comparable to the ones in downtown. I've ordered the Fish cake from the BKK starter. It has a nice spice to it. I like the Pad Kee Mao but it's an additional $4 for the shrimp. Noodles and flavour everything is good. If you are okay with other types of protein, don't bother with the shrimp as I don't think it's crunchy enough, the texture of the shrimp isn't too good. Too soft. Last but not least, the Pad Kaprao Kai Dao. This is rice with mince meat on the side and a sunny side up! Again you can choose minced pork, chicken or beef. The marinade and flavour is very good. But tonight, I find the mince meat a little over cooked. I will be back again as the dishes have good layer of flavours and authentic! read more
