Dan Dan Noodles - Flat Shaped
    Karen T.

Came here for a group dinner and it was BOMB! There were 8 of us so we called ahead of time to get ourselves seated all together. To start off, we had some chicken skewers - they were nicely spiced and juicy, really hit the spot with a beer on the side. The stars of the shows were really the noodles. Everyone ordered a different dish and we were all very impressed. I got the thin-flat cut noodles with veggies + beef mince - it was fun to mix and flavour was so good, with the handpulled noodles being just the right level of chewiness. I also got to try my partner's Dan Dan noodles and while I can't handle spicy food very well, it was so tasty with just the right level of kick! You can always add more chilli oil to your preference. Overall, very satisfied and happy with this meal. Our server was also very attentive, and gifted us some complimentary mochi because it was our friend's birthday.

This is one of my preferred hand-pulled noodle spots in the Toronto area - they have multiple locations that cover downtown, midtown, uptown, and even the GTA. The ambiance is cozy and relaxing and the service was up to par for the price point being listed.

My family arrived around 6:00 PM on a Thursday and were promptly seated. Waiter was extremely friendly and attentive. Three of us ordered the braised beef with various levels of spiciness. My wife ordered a different chicken and noodle stir fry. Food came out relatively fast, was extremely hearty, and filling. Prices for quality/quantity seemed very reasonable. Restaurant was filling up during our visit. There are multiple locations throughout the Toronto area. I would highly recommend going here if you're in the area.

Dumplings and kelp salad, part of the lunch combo

Came to Mogouyan because we love good hand pulled noodles and overall, Mogouyan can hold its own. We opted to share 2 lunch specials at 19.99 CAD. It comes with your choice of 1 of 3 noodle options where you can also pick your noodle type and spice level, two different sides of your choice (looks like a half portion of the standard order), and a drink (we upgraded to the fruit tea for an additional 2.99 as the standard price is 7). I really enjoyed the broth of the Moolan noodles which was a little spicy but had a delicious beefy and herbal undertone. However, I thought the texture of the sesame noodles (thin flat) was better than the noodle soup (thin normal) in my opinion - more chew! My favorite side was the kelp noodles which was both different and had good flavor. Both the dumplings and the spring rolls looked fresh from frozen. The tea comes served in a huge (easily 32oz) mug and we also had a good laugh at the bit of foam on top - looked like a big beer lol. Overall, the special is a good value! The food is also good quality and I'm glad I got to try this place. I had one of their other locations bookmarked before coming!

Solid hand pulled noodle soup spot. Huge portions (the regular is massive) and the braised beef noodle soup had a very generous amount of beef. The beef was pretty tender and flavorful! Broth was not too salty and the first level of spice was perfect for me. It's not too heavy and has green onion and cilantro for more flavor. I got the flat noodles and they had a great chewy texture, but they didn't soak up as much of the soup flavor as I would've liked. Great service -- it was super fast and the staff were friendly! Clean interior and lots of seating inside as well.

This place was a last minute decision. Really glad I made the choice, great location, service was very good. Food had a lot of flavour especially the braised beef noodle, insane portion if you get a large I would say enough for 2 people. They aren't cheap with the portions and for the price, can't go wrong at all.

Beef brisket noodle - broth was tasty, the meat was excellent, but the ratio of noodle to meat was not great Dan dan noodle - my husband said it was good. The service was friendly and quick. The restaurant was small but comfortable

Either the menu is a mediocre version of the actual menu, and/or the service is dismissive once they learn you're there for the 'licious set. Black + Blue had a $65 dinner menu which is pretty good for the options available. The portions were generous but the service was where things really stood out. We were treated so incredibly well by all the staff. Dawn was our server and she was so lovely! We really felt taken care of. I've never had a restaurant server look at the type of pant I was wearing and change my table napkin to a black one to match my dark pants. Nor do I remember a restaurant heating up the mug a cappuccino comes in to ensure it stays nice and warm. As for food, we were allowed to have some partake in Summerlicious and some not. I had the Summerlicious menu and picked the Wagyu Tartare, Surf and Turf, and Buttercake. Great portions, delicious food. My favourite was the Buttercake. We also had happy hour drinks, oysters, a prime rib, and caesar salad. If I were to recommend something, get the $78 prime rib which is 14 oz, perfectly seasoned, and comes with glazed carrots and the most amazing mashed potatoes I've ever had.

From the vibes to the food, everything was top notch. Tyler took care of our group and made sure that we got an experience rather than just a meal. Upon being seated we got napkins to match our outfits so the white lint didn't get on our black pants , an incredible guava passion fruit cocktail to try and a meat presentation to make sure we all order like pros from here on out. The food was incredible- one our tastebuds won't forget! Our group of 5 started with fresh sushi and sashimi, table side Caesar salad and the softest brioche served with sun-dried tomato butter that was perfect in every way. Main course: Australian wagyu ribeye that we didn't even have to chew plus a strip loin and beef Wellington (which was maybe the only thing I don't need to order again, but still delicious). All the sides were amazing and finally sticky toffee pudding and butter cake to put us in a complete food coma. Wouldn't change a thing about this meal. We cannot thank you enough Tyler (and Toronto!!)!

Not going to lie, we had trouble finding the entrance, even after looking it up online, but it is through the shop in the corner of that block and through a vending machine door. There was already kind of a line waiting in the shop on the side, so we did not order the #8 to get in. It is dimly lit and has good music playing, but the area inside is on the smaller side. The drinks are on the expensive side but the drinks are higher quality. The staff was also very nice, they provided phone chargers for us when our phones were about to die.

Located on the 31st floor of the St. Regis Hotel, the restaurant has an incredible atmosphere. The dining room is absolutely stunning with a classy and luxurious feel, but it still feels comfortable and inviting rather than too formal. We started the evening with cocktails before moving into the Summerlicious menu. I ordered the "I Only Drink When I Smoke," which was a great way to start the night. It had a subtle smoky flavour with a touch of sweetness, and the alcohol was not overpowering at all. It was smooth, easy to sip on, and the perfect drink to enjoy while having conversations. For my Summerlicious menu, I started with the Tartare de Boeuf and Caviar. The filet mignon tartare was fresh and really smooth, with a nice balance of rich and savoury flavours. The toasted bread also gave it a nice crunch and paired really well with the tartare. For the main course, I had the Roasted Chateaubriand Filet. When the plate was served, the meat looked really rare as I saw nothing but red on the meat, but it was incredibly tender, making it easy to cut through. It was full of flavour, and the sauce complemented the steak without being too heavy or salty. The vegetables added a nice balance to the dish, and the creamy mashed potatoes were smooth, and definitely one of my favourite parts of the meal. To finish, I had the Mango Passionfruit Cheesecake. It was creamy without feeling too heavy. Though the fruity flavours from the mango passionfruit were a bit tart and sweet for my palate, it still gave an overall refreshing touch. The crust added a nice texture, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. Beyond the food, what really stood out was the service and pacing of the evening. Each course arrived at the right time, allowing us to enjoy every dish without feeling rushed. The price point is definitely on the higher end, so it is not somewhere I would personally visit for a casual dinner on a regular basis. However, for a special occasion, celebration, or a night where you want to enjoy a beautiful dining experience, I think Louix Louis would be a great choice... and for $75/ person for Summerlicious/ Winterlicious, definitely a great value to sample the chefs' artistry. Overall, it was a memorable evening with an elegant atmosphere, thoughtfully prepared dishes, and great service. I can definitely understand why this spot has become such a popular destination, and I would love to come back again for Winterlicious!

Perched high above the bustle of downtown Toronto, LOUIX LOUIS makes a compelling first impression…read more The dining room is genuinely handsome -- a study in polished Art Deco glamour softened by sweeping city views that lend every table a sense of occasion. On a Valentine's Day brunch visit, the atmosphere alone was enough to justify the reservation. The kitchen demonstrates genuine competence: dishes arrive with care, the pacing is unhurried, and the mise en scène -- from tableside presentation to that now-famous thirteen-layer chocolate cake -- reveals an establishment that understands the theatre of fine dining. That towering slice of chocolate cake, in particular, is a masterstroke of marketing and pastry craft in equal measure; it draws the eye, earns its reputation, and very nearly steals the show. Where LOUIX LOUIS gives one pause is in the cuisine's ability to fully match its surroundings. The cooking is accomplished and reliably pleasant, yet seldom rises to the level of genuine distinction one might hope for at this price point. Dishes satisfy without surprising; technique is evident but inspiration, at moments, feels held in reserve. For the corporate traveller or the visitor seeking a polished, geographically convenient showcase of the city's skyline, this represents an entirely sound choice. For those seeking an experience whose flavours linger as long as the view, the kitchen has room yet to grow into its magnificent stage. Service is attentive and well-intentioned, though it can occasionally want for the depth of knowledge that elevates a good meal into a memorable one. LOUIX LOUIS is, in sum, a very good restaurant striving -- not quite yet arriving -- at greatness. The bones are exceptional; one hopes the culinary vision will, in time, catch up with them.
