Shawarma is complicated!! Believe me! It's multiple spices and many ways to do it! Leave alone you have at least 3 different cultures competing who makes the best! Greek calls it Yeero ( Gyro) , Turkish calls it Döner and Arabs call it Shawarma .. Well , they actually make it slightly different than each other (assuming each one was made really authentic!) I'm not the Person who would give the word "The Best" to everyone and everything! That devalue the word ! But do we only at "The Best" places only? Or everyday?? Simply No! Taza aren't the best (taste wise) Shawarma but they are really good! They are Iraqi style Shawarma and they make the best Iraqi bread (Samoon) also they have great Iraqi Kabob and grilled chicken! They got the perfect equation! ALL FRESH INGREDIENTS- FRESH BREAD MADE IN THE HOUSE - FRESH MEAT FROM THE GRILL ( Either Shawarma from the vertical grill or Kebab from the charcoal grill) - AFFORDABLE PRICES - GREAT FRIENDLY CUSTOMER SERVICE = what else do you need?? Must try while you're in Fairfax and a very practical affordable meal at anytime! I'm craving to go back and get more Iraqi Kabab next time! They have family meals that I might try next time!

3 Stars too Low, Will settle for 4; Pretty Good, Can't complain. Ordered the kabob platter and falafels, was pleased with the platter - only would have wished for one more skewer of meat. The falafels were adequate to say the least, lacked flavor and depended on the tahini, although the tahini was 10/10. Server was polite, and food came out fast. I recommend using the bread as a chip dipper as seen in the photo. Overall, 72.5/100

    Half my chicken shawarma sandwich

I was feeling lazy and tired of doing dishes for the 283739 time during this quarantine and decided to look up shawarma options in the area. Taza would always show up as an option on Yelp but for whatever reason I never went. I finally decided to give it a shot (being so close) and ordered the chicken shawarma wrap and hummus to go through their site. When I arrived, I called the shop to let them know I was outside and the owner informed me that although I received confirmation that my order was ready it wasn't. Unbeknownst to me, they had just implemented their order online option and I was the first to use it! He said it would be a couple of mins and that he would bring it out when it was ready. When the owner brought out the food to the car he was very sweet and apologetic , but I reminded him again that it was okay and not a big deal! The food was delicious and the customer service topped off the experience. I only wished they pressed/toasted my wrap longer (if they even did it at all).

    Not very good falafel bowl

I was not very impressed by this restaurant. I asked the server to make a falafel bowl the way he would like to eat it himself and either he has very poor taste or it was an off day because I love mediterranean food. I ate it daily during my college years! Anyway, the bowl he made was just odd and not something I would want to eat a lot of. It was cold and also lukewarm so the temperature profile just sucked. Flavors were bland mixed with the sour acidic taste of the pickled veggies so it was nauseating. I requested hot sauce to salvage the meal and the hot sauce was really spicy but very delicious.

Probably some of the best proportioned and well priced falafel I have had in a while. The yellow rice was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. The vegetables were crispy and fresh. The falafel was ok. It was kind of hard and not very flavorful. Also got harissa on the side, wasn't sure if that was ok at first but it wouldn't been nice if it were offered as an option at checkout. The server was very kind and plenty of seating inside and outside. Well lit everywhere.

    Falafel in samoon

I discovered taza falafel by accident and what a happy accident it was! I was at the coffee shop next door and feeling very hungry and thought falafel would hit the spot. I opted for their falafel wrap on samoon bread which came loaded with 5 Pieces of Falafel, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Red Turnips, Hummus and Tahini. It was fantastic. They have bags of fresh baked bread to go, so I of course had to get some. They also had some of their shawarma meat frozen that you can take home with you, which I was thrilled about since I live in DC and fairfax is quite a hike for me. I'm so sad there's not a location closer bc I loved it so much!! 10/10

I work near by so this spot has been my go to sometimes for a quick grab and go. They have option for bowls and wraps, and various different sides. I usually get the chicken shawarma bowl and have been satisfied with it. Due to the COVID pandemic, mask required to enter. They also have hand sanitizers available at the front. I have also always seen staff at the front with mask.

I really wanted to like Taza Falafel but it wasn't as tasty as I expected it to be especially after reading all of the reviews. I ordered takeout mixed shawarma bowl and falafel as well as Ayran to drink. The falafel was very delicious. However, the shawarma bowl left a lot to be desired. The meat was dry and the rice was very moist. I was also put off by the toum, as I was expecting a nice thick garlicky paste and this was almost watery and tasteless. Maybe I'll try it again to see if it was an off day, but it won't be for a while.

    Lamb & Beef Shawarma wrap
    Derek L.

First time here and it's not bad. I ordered the beef and lamb shawarma wrap for 10.69$ with a side of tzatziki sauce. The shawarma wrap was slightly above mid. Meat was not as flavorful and juicy as I was expected. Each bite of the wrap as a whole was leaning towards the dry side as well. Tzatziki sauce had too much mint flavorful. Felt like I was eating toothpaste with the wrap. All in all I'll be coming back to try some other items on the menu, but I doubt I'll be ordering the beef and lamb shawarma again.

Appreciate you can try different sauces to dip your fries or add to your sandwich or bowls. Only reason they didn't get a 5 star on this last visit was how long it took to get our order. It was a Saturday night, so we did mobile ordering and pickup. It said it would be ready within 3-15 minutes. I arrived 12 min after our order was placed. They were quite busy - and seemed the two employees working were a bit overwhelmed. There were a few people waiting for food, a line to order, they were out of containers for sauces, and some of the sauces were empty. I ended up waiting for an extra 25 minutes until I asked to check on an order - it was apparent from their reaction, our order got lost in the shuffle. Once they realized, they made it right away, which was appreciated. However, they grabbed a bag of fries that had been sitting on the counter since I walked in - so they were cold. Good thing - they do great in the air fryer! I've never experienced these issues before and it won't stop me from returning, definitely felt like a bit of an off night for them. Solid food, great cause, and one of the best affordable options for a quick bite at the Wharf! Recommend them!

There are Turkish plates and copper pots hung above, as well, to give a splendid feeling of how food can be heartily prepared and beautifully served -- and beautifully served it is here! The caffeine-free mint tea comes in a gorgeous metal pot and is drunk from a glass glass (meaning a glass made of glass, not ceramic) with eye-catching decorations that will help to bring you into the spirit of the meal you are about to have .... The Quinoa Tabouli Salad with Falafel is spectacular! It's standout amazing, delicious, refreshingly oh-so-fresh, crispy, crunchy, yummy -- how many good-to-great things can I say about it? If I keep complimenting it as much as it deserves, you might get bored, ha ha! You might think that I'm exaggerating. I'm not. Of course, it's possible I'm biased and have tastes that just happen to align with this particular falafel spot's way of preparing things -- but I think not! I think this is objectively over-the-top in greatness! The District Salad is equally splendiferous and worth your time to indulge in savouring every bite. There are so many great-looking things here I can't wait to try! I must taste the Shorbat Adas (puréed lentil soup), (non-quinoa) Tabouli, Toom, and many other things here! The variety is very wowing! Most places just don't give you this variety in terms of various dishes or the variety within each dish that this place does -- and that contributes greatly to not only your appetite but also your health. So much care is clearly put into everything here from the décor to the drinks to the hospitality. It's really like a mini, super-tasty trip to the Near East -- and welcomes everyone equally. I'm so glad I stopped in! I can't wait to go back! Highly recommended! Very much deserving of an absolute, all-around Yay! :-D (By the way, from a not-falafel fan I know: 'You know I'm not a fan of falafel, but that was really good -- everything! We need not ever go back to the other place -- even if it's free!' What better endorsement could there be?)
