With her seven years of experience, I could tell my newborn was in good hands right away. Her patience and ability to work with newborn babies is truly a talent! Prior to meeting, I had communicated with Michelle on Yelp and inquired her different packages, then signed a contract and paid a $50 deposit. Everything was pretty smooth and easy. The three packages are on her website, either basic, signature, or premium, and we went with the middle package - the signature, which was perfect for us. The middle package had 4 poses, swaddled, family included, and we received 50 photos! Fast forward to photoshoot morning - we followed directions to have baby fed and changed into a diaper by the time of her arrival. My son was 13 days old when she took photos in our home. She came with her props, accessories, and baskets all prepared! Michelle also brought a sound machine that had white noise playing to soothe the baby. She swaddled my son and every photo pose/ setup increased in difficulty but she was really patient and worked with my son who almost was so fussy he'd wake! I enjoyed that she brought different colors for swaddles and blankets and various types of hats for us to choose from. Furthermore, if you're like me and your home is a mess, don't worry! Michelle will make it work and she will decide which room has the best lighting for her photos. She'll need about 5ftx5ft of space at least! Michelle delivered our gallery in a blink of an eye. Literally got an email about images being ready within 3 days of the shoot. I loved every image!! My son had baby acne and dry skin peeling at the time and she let me know that if I chose 10 photos, she would retouch them and she did! Overall my husband and I are loving our photos and highly recommend Michelle. You will NOT be disappointed. I'm so thrilled I have beautiful images of my son captured when he was only two weeks old. Here are some of the ways that Sandy truly stood out: - Both our babies were born around Christmas holiday and scheduling was not an issue at all for Sandy. She checked in ahead of the appointment to ensure we didn't need to reschedule (much needed for parents that just gave birth recently) and had our themes ready prior to us arriving. - The themes were 10/10, better than what we could've envisioned ourselves. Our second baby was a bit harder to photograph compared to the first, in addition to a toddler who wasn't in the mood for pictures, and it didn't phase Sandy at all. Disappointing Maternity & Newborn Photoshoot Experience…read more We had a very disappointing experience across both our maternity and newborn photoshoots. For the maternity session, there was no proper pre-discussion about locations or outfits. We were simply asked to choose from previously taken images, which felt impersonal. During the shoot, the session felt rushed, and the photographer appeared disengaged, as if they wanted to finish early. From a 2-hour session, we could barely select around 10 usable images, which reflects the overall quality. We also noticed technical issues with the camera, including frequent error messages during burst shots. For the newborn session, we had informed them in advance that we would be about 30 minutes late due to our baby's doctor appointment. Despite this, one of the planned props was removed, which felt inflexible given the circumstances. There was also a significant delay of about four weeks beyond the expected timeline in delivering the edited images, without clear communication or accountability. After delivery, communication continued to be frustrating. We received emails indicating additional charges if image selections were not made within 30 days, which felt pressured--especially considering the delay in delivery was on their side. At the same time, when we requested a re-edit for one of the selected images, we had to follow up multiple times and did not receive timely responses. Additionally, some comments made during the newborn shoot were uncomfortable and inappropriate. Remarks about the baby's skin tone and comments regarding the mother's feeding choices were hurtful and unexpected, especially for a one-month-old baby. We expected a much more respectful and sensitive environment. There was also no prior discussion about props for the newborn shoot -- only a couple of setups were pre-arranged, and we felt limited to those options. Similar to the maternity shoot, the overall photography quality did not meet expectations. From a 1.5-hour session, we could barely select around 15 images, and the editing felt very basic, with some images appearing minimally edited. Given our experience, the overall service felt unprofessional, inflexible, and lacking in quality. These are once-in-a-lifetime moments, and we expected a much more thoughtful, skilled, and supportive experience. Also, please don't go based on Instagram followers alone -- our experience did not reflect the expectations set by their online presence. If you are looking for a photographer who communicates well, provides guidance, and creates a comfortable and enjoyable session -- especially with a newborn -- this may not be the right fit.
