We are so grateful to have worked with Yang for our 2026 wedding. Yang is truly everything you could want in a photographer - not only is he extremely talented, efficient, and great at making his clients feel comfortable on camera, but by the end of it all, you really feel like he's one of your friends, which speaks to his character and charisma. We first inquired back in 2025, and from our very first meeting Yang was prepared and professional, giving a breakdown of what working with him would be like. This included multiple checkpoint meetings leading up to the wedding, along with last-minute photo tips to remember the week before. He also showed that he likes to capture small moments that really convey the feeling of the day, which I loved. We ended up choosing an 8-hour package with a second photographer for the wedding day, along with an engagement session. For our engagement photoshoot, Yang was so helpful with posing us in a way that looked natural. We're not the most comfortable in front of a camera, but Yang is super experienced, and the engagement photos turned out better than we could've imagined. We used so many of these photos on signage and stationery for the wedding. By the time the wedding day rolled around, we felt so familiar with Yang from our multiple meetings and the engagement shoot that it felt like seeing an old friend again. Yang also has a great photographer network - our second photographer was Vivi Lin, who was fantastic and so sweet. It was a long and high-stress day, as weddings usually are, but Yang handled all of our requested shots seamlessly within our timeline. Within a week of the wedding, Yang shared beautiful previews and we were astounded! He delivered the full gallery within a month, which was incredibly quick given how many photos there were and that he had other weddings that same month. An updated review now that our wedding has passed. Yang and his assistant, Benji, went above and beyond on our wedding day!! The photos? AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL! Once we finalized a wedding date (delayed from COVID), we reached out to Yang to book the date. Yang was very responsive to any and all questions we had. We had one final video meeting one week prior to go over any details as well as any pointers for certain photo shots. On the day of the wedding, Yang and Benji spent the day with us capturing all the small and special details from getting ready early in the morning to the tea ceremony and then the ceremony/reception in the evening. They scouted the different locations to take pictures. During the family photos, Yang communicated with our families in Cantonese. During the group photos with the bridal party or with our friends, Yang and Benji were great at directing us on each shot. One of our goals was to take a photo with each guest during cocktail hour and we were going from group to group like hot potato. We had an excellent experience working with Yang and his team for our wedding. We reached out about 4 months before our wedding and luckily he was still available. We had first found Yang through Instagram but our videographer also recommended him as they had worked together on a previous wedding. Could not have asked for a better photographer! During the wedding planning process I was extremely lucky to come across Yang and his work. I was initially a little skeptical on pricing after weighing the market and being shocked with some of the rates of most of these photographers but after consulting with Yang over the phone I felt that the quality of work, everything he was offering and the professionalism he brought to the table, This was the best photographer for my wife and I. After working out the details of the contract and signing it. We had a couple of phone appointments where he got to know us and wanted to hear our story. We actually ended up hiring Yang when our first photography vendor canceled on us. We found Yang on Instagram and what drew us to him was his focus on storytelling and connecting with his clients. We were so relieved to find out he was available for our wedding date. Yang quickly scheduled a Zoom meeting with me and my then-fiance to learn more about our story and our expectations. He had a whole presentation planned and we were impressed by his preparedness and personable nature. We ended up canceling meetings with other potential photographers and booked with Yang. He scheduled an in-person meeting over dessert and got to know us better as a couple. We thought was such a nice gesture and really goes to show how much Yang tries to connect with his clients to deliver services that were personal to us. He connected with us again closer to the wedding helped us hash out a timeline with must-shots. On the day of, Yang was punctual, present, and collaborative. His team worked cohesively with the videographer (he recommended to us who was also amazing). We had a long 13 hour wedding day and Yang was there to capture all of the important moments. Not only that, he effectively managed navigating to 4 different locations, our 10-person bridal party, documenting moments with our 200 guests, and many other special requests all while keeping us on a strict timeline. He captured our cultural ceremony with knowledge as well as aspects of the wedding that were new to him, like our private first looks and vows with matched expertise. There's so much to say about Yang as a photographer, but the first thing that I want to mention (other than you should definitely book him) is how much my wife and I enjoyed working with him for both our engagement and wedding shoots. His photography speaks for itself, but my wife and I genuinely appreciated working with him and his wife as we prepared for our wedding. Yang also speaks Cantonese which was great as he was able to easily communicate with my in-laws and make them feel at ease. We met Yang a long time ago when he was just starting out as a photographer. We've seen his photography profession grow and flourish since then, and so when it came time for our own engagement session, there was no question who we would choose to document such a special day. Especially as we were not planning on having a wedding photographer for the big day (Zoom wedding), our engagement photos have since become extra dear to our heart. We booked Yang in what was seemingly the worst timing ever - fires and smoke-clogged air, coronavirus, heat wave, etc. Despite it all, he remained super accommodating and flexible and rescheduled when our chosen spot was closed to the public for bad air quality. The day of, we were all suffering in 100 degree weather. He was so patient with us, waiting for us to wipe our sweaty brows or cool down in the shade, haha. His first order of business was to instruct us on basic posing techniques. We then proceeded to a few different spots for a wide variety of photo types: sunset, silhouette, posed and unposed, etc. We even requested some individual photos of myself and my S.O for posting to our wedding website. The planning process with Yang was great! He has a very calming presence and was very efficient and reassuring during our meetings. The day of our wedding, we appreciated his flexibility when we had to change venues and times the week of. Fortunately he was available that morning and was able to accommodate us. Since we were outside with patches of shade, he posed us in a way to ensure the shade didn't hit our face even though I said I didn't mind. I do appreciate him still taking charge of this because I probably would have cared looking at them later, but didn't think of it too much at the time. Our photos came out beautifully, however I do wish we splurged on the extra photographer, gave an exact list of photos we wanted, and even a list of those that were important to us such as family, wedding party, etc. I got a handful of photos alone, but my husband didn't. It would have been nice to have even one of him by himself. Additionally, it would have been nice to take more with my guests, even a whole group one or by tables. There were a lot of redundant photos from the same view, so the second photographer would have been nice to have get a different perspective. Planning the venue and time change was at the forefront of planning, so I should have thought about when we would have taken these. What made me the most sad was I didn't get a photo with my mom. I was hoping he'd give more direction on who I should have had photos with, but it was probably my fault that I didn't convey this to him. We found Yang through Instagram, particularly his SF city hall/street shots and was captivated by his vision, style, and creativity. We had a pre-wedding meeting scheduled to develop the shotlist/timeline, which we were unable to make due to all the planning but was able to plan all through email/text. Next meeting was a phone introduction with our videographer and further development of the timeline/shotlist, whom he also worked seamlessly with day-of. As far as the day progressed, we were extremely happy with how Yang conducted us for the shotlist, not keeping us away from enjoying our event and guests (as if he were paparazzi while we went about our evening!). Working the timeline we developed, coordinating family pictures with our guests moved like clockwork as the DJ called tables to us as Yang patiently got the shots (and cellphone pics!). Emotions were high that evening and it was heartwarming to see that Yang and Renee were there to experience and participate in it all. Following our honeymoon, we arrived home to an extremely quick turnover of pictures via Website album (which we were able to share with friends and family). Let's start with the most important part: book Yang for your wedding. Right this second. He was so incredibly wonderful to work with throughout the entire process. In the beginning Yang makes sure to really get to know you and what you are looking for. He scheduled a face-to-face conference call with us just as we were beginning to review his services to introduce himself and help answer all of our questions. We knew we wanted to work with Yang based on the quality of his photos and portfolios, but to connect with someone personally and see how kind, thoughtful, and professional he is really sealed the deal for us! I'm not sure if this is something most wedding vendors/photographers do, but Yang was the only vendor we had who made an effort for these very personable meetings, and they were so helpful and appreciated. As we moved through the process, we even met up in person once (pre-pandemic) to sign our contracts and make sure all our questions/planning needs were moving along. A few months before our wedding date, we realized we needed to postpone our event due to COVID, as so many experienced last year. We are so thankful that all of our vendors were so understanding. Yang was actually the first to reach out to us to ask how we were feeling, and to make sure he stayed in the loop about how we planned to move forward. Fast forward a year later and Yang stuck with us to our rescheduled event. We had one last video conference check-in to run through the game plan for the day, but through it all we felt so at ease in Yang's hands. His attention to detail and organization throughout our conversations left us feeling so solid about the photos for our day. We ended up with about 75 guests at our wedding at a large outdoor ranch venue in Livermore. Yang worked so incredibly hard for us as a single shooter for our wedding day, and captured every moment! Throughout the wedding, Yang snuck us away from the crowds a few times to get some really unique shots in various places around the venue. The pictures from these are some of my favorites, and during the wedding felt extra special to have a moment with eachother as newlyweds, and to soak in all the magic going on around us. Even before we received the full photos, our friends and family raved about how wonderful Yang was on the wedding day. We've had several people comment on how impressed they were at his techniques to ensure he got the important shots (again, he was a solo photographer for our day!). For example, when looking back through the photos my husband and I were surprised to see how close in Yang got to the exchange of rings or during our first dance. We even wondered if he brought a bigger lens to get that close-up shot from afar because we didn't even notice him! Yang got in where he needed to for the best photos from the most important moments, and then was out of sight! His stealthy moves captured such wonderful memories for us, and all the while we were oblivious and just in the moment of the day. We were not expecting them so quickly, but Yang turned around our photos two weeks after our event, and shared many sneak peek pictures along the way on his Instagram. Tl;dr - Yang is a fantastic photographer, and you should definitely choose him to photograph your wedding! He is fantastic at communicating before and during the wedding, has a great artistic eye for creative angles, and takes unique and dynamic shots. I cannot recommend him highly enough! Yang and I know each other as classmates from Berkeley, and we've kept touch off and on since graduating years ago. I knew he was growing his photography interest into a business, and I loved his style of shooting. When I reached out to him about potentially photographing our wedding, he immediately made us feel at ease, and throughout the whole wedding planning process, he was very responsive to all of our questions, no matter how big or small. On top of that, during the wedding planning process, because he's had so much experience under his belt, he gave us some tips and advice on what he usually sees, what works well for weddings, and how we can plan our wedding to go as smoothly as possible. We especially appreciated Yang's flexibility during the pandemic - we ended up rescheduling our wedding TWICE, and no matter the change or delay, Yang was proactive and worked with our plans. Our wedding photoshoot was unique. We did our wedding party photos at UC Berkeley, and our ceremony and reception at Chabot Space & Science Center. As a Berkeley alum, Yang had recommendations on where to take photos, but he also took into consideration what locations we wanted. This meant he captured unique angles and backgrounds that I hadn't seen before with other engagement/wedding shoots at Berkeley. It was also challenging shooting our wedding because it was so bright and sunny that day - but he caught great moments (including some really fun candids) and did his best to work with the harsh light and environment. Yang did a great job finding angles and shots for our couple photos at Chabot, despite having never shot at the space before. He used the windows of the museum hallways to capture reflections, shot photos from around the corner, and snapped romantic shots of us in the planetarium under the moon. I especially loved his direction in telling us how to move, which created dynamic shots - whether it be twirling or running towards the camera, even if you felt silly in the moment, Yang's photos really captured movement well! Yang is also great at directing large groups. There were 16 in our wedding party, but he framed shots in a way that got everyone in, and gave much-appreciated direction in posing for photos. He's particularly good at helping people who aren't used to being in photographs with gentle direction on how to pose and angle so that they look natural and relaxed on camera. He was also incredibly efficient, and despite having to work with such a large group and various iterations of groups, it didn't take long for him to get the shot he needed. An added bonus for me is that he speaks Cantonese, which really helped with certain family members. I didn't want a photographer to over edit our photos- I wanted good quality photos that looked professional , and flawless to the eye (lighting, angles, shadows, thoughtful positioning). Yang captures all of that and more! Yang is knowledgeable of the layout of San Francisco city hall. As newbies to professional photographs.. we were pretty lost in what to do but Yang made us feel 100% comfortable all the time (he also does a great job in making sure we are feeling relaxed!). He's so easy to work with, has all the latest equipment, doesn't skimp on trying to get the best shot, doesn't make you feel rushed. We received pictures what we'll cherish forever. They're just perfect! We booked Yang also for 10+ hours for our Chinese wedding reception. Yes. Yang was with us all day. He brought a counterpart (Renee) to assist on this day and i was so elated we got a helping hand for photos (Renee was amazing too!) Yang is fit, moves fast, swift but patient. He understood the tasks of the day, the events that would occur and everytime I thought I needed him, he was already there! Yang knows how to pose people! For our engagement shoot, we wanted something more fun and casual at the Facebook HQ. Yang completely exceeded our expectation and we loved how the photos came out! We first contracted with Yang pre-COVID, so needless to say, rescheduling was all over the place. Yang was super professional, but in a very personable way and was very flexible to help accommodate the many changes that occurred throughout the process. He did a fantastic in helping us feel at ease when doing our engagement/family shoot and captured some truly unforgettable moments for us to cherish for the rest of our lives. While researching for our wedding banquet photographer, my husband and I came across Yang's portfolio and loved everything we saw which lead us to book him shortly afterwards. Yang's communication was fantastic from the beginning - he kept us updated on everything as the year went on. My husband and I were simultaneously planning our destination wedding in Hawaii with the banquet so we were grateful Yang was always so proactive with keeping the lines of communication open. I gave Yang a rough timeline of the night and didn't realize until later that I never gave him a finalized timeline nor did I provide him with a list of pictures we wanted. Essentially, we gave Yang zero direction of what we wanted, which I feel so bad about. I was so disorganized with everything and Yang was incredibly understanding. Yang showed up on time the night of the event and since I was behind on schedule, he took advantage of time by getting solo shots of my husband and took pictures of the venue. Like I had mentioned, I gave Yang zero direction, so I appreciated how proactive he was. I'm so appreciative of Yang for his patience with all my Asian aunties. Let's say I took a picture with five Asian aunties, expect all five aunties to hand over all their phones to Yang, only for him to take one picture on each phone. He was so calm and patient with them the entire time. Thank you, Yang. For good pictures, Yang gave my husband and I suggestions on how to pose (sometimes we pose like we don't know each other), gave our guests suggestions on where to stand for height symmetry, and helped navigate our guests with Cantonese. I cannot tell you how helpful Yang was throughout the night. Yang worked hard the entire night; he never took a break even when we told him to eat, walked around and took various kinds of photos, and was always ready to capture any special moment. I have so much respect for him. He truly worked his butt off. Turnaround for our pictures were almost immediate and the edits were amazing! We're so happy with how everything turned out. Yang, I cannot thank you enough for how you were able to perfectly capture the essence of our wedding without any guidance whatsoever. I guess that's a testament to how talented you are. We had a maternity session with Yang and we're so glad we found him! His work is impeccable! He responded right away to my request for a quote. Luckily for us, he was available on such short notice. He made the transaction easy and was even thoughtful enough to provide some pointers on what to wear and why (it might be a good idea to wear a fitted dress to show off your baby bump in the photos). On top of that, I am not too familiar with the south bay but told him I wanted outdoors and redwood trees. He suggested a great location that he's worked with before and was thorough enough to tell me to bring cash as there was a park entrance fee. During the actual photo session, he helped us with pose suggestions -- which helped bc we were awkward and didn't know how to stand despite scoping out Pinterest in the days leading to the photo session. His turn around time was excellent due to the winter low season, but the quality is superb. We seriously loved every single shot he captured! Yang was pretty freaking amazing. My wife and I weren't totally sure about where to take maternity photos so he suggested a cute place. He's super-chill about everything but also not afraid to call out things we were doing that didn't make us look great. He posed us, gave us context on what and how the things he suggested would work, then showed us comparisons of "regular" us vs Model Us. We saw the difference immediately, even on that tiny camera LCD preview screen. He was able to turn our photos around really quickly (it wasn't a busy time for him so YMMV) and we pretty much loved all the photos. It was wonderful working with Yang over the past year or so on our wedding journey. We spoke with him in late 2019 and with all the chaos of 2020 we didn't get to work together until 2021. He came with us to our City Hall ceremony and our wedding up in Tahoe! Yang's photography stands out on its own from both a technical and artistic perspective (obviously). As someone who has studied photography, I was very particular in choosing a photographer who had an innate sense of composition, framing, geometry, proportion, and balance -- almost architectural in its core. Yang has that natural "eye", and could help capture our wedding vision (which was modern/clean with a touch of romantic). Every shot was perfect. Besides being personally obsessed with his photos, our families and friends absolutely raved about him after I sent his pictures. City Hall: - Yang gave us a lot of great tips on what to expect which was very comforting before our big day. - He clearly knew his way around SF City Hall and took us to the most beautiful nooks and crannies. - In the areas where there were more people, he navigated the crowds so that it seemed like we were the only ones there! - Yang also took us to several other beautiful locations throughout the city. He was super patient, which I appreciated especially as my dress was huge and cumbersome. Lake Tahoe: - Yang was diligent in setting up check-in Zoom meetings to go over timelines, etc, which was super helpful - The timing of our wedding was during the Caldor Fire, so while our venue up in North Lake Tahoe was open, there was a lot of back-and-forth with our venue and vendors whether or not we would postpone or cancel the event. Yang was responsive to all of our texts and was so supportive in whatever decision we made. As a couple going through such a stressful time (wildfire/smoke, COVID, other life events), working with a photographer with a positive and warm attitude was beyond anything we could ask for. - The venue location itself was tricky - it's a ski lodge on top of a mountain, and guests need to take 1 gondola and 1 chair lift to get to the venue. We wanted photos of us on the chairlift and despite the odd angles, etc, Yang made it happen! - The terrain of the venue was tricky too, but post-ceremony, Yang and our videographer hiked the steep slopes of the Sierra Nevada to get some shots of us in the gorgeous wildflower blossoms. - Yang also photographed stunning photos of us at the Lake before our rehearsal dinner and during the dinner itself! What made Yang stand out was his professionalism and the way he made us feel when we were taking photos. We felt so comfortable and at ease, and while Yang took the lead in getting us to the perfect spots and angles, there were lots of times when the three of us (Yang, my husband, and I) would bounce around ideas on where and what wanted to shoot. It never felt contrived, like our photographer was 'stealing us away' -- on the contrary, it felt like we were taking photos with a trusted friend. It made our wedding experience so much fun and we felt like we could be creative, silly, and let our guard down (which is not the easiest during a high stress time with COVID/wildfires). Yang was our photographer for our May 2017 wedding. Yang, my husband, and I are highschool friends and we would have never thought that he would be our photographer since we haven't spoken for years. What better place to start than the beginning, we knew we wanted to hire Yang as our wedding photographer from our very first conversation with him. From our first conversation to the celebration of our big day, Yang showed himself to be very responsible, professional, friendly, and super easy to work with. Yang was wonderful to work with. From the beginning, he was professional and easy to communicate with. Before our Chinese banquet, he reached out to confirm details with us. Yang is a mutual friend to another photographer friend of mine. We were strangers before working together. I checked him out and his photo style is vibrant and not too overexposed or dark. All his samples were impressive. Throughout the process and just overall result of it all, he provided my husband and I the absolute best experience! The photoshoot with Yang was fun and he has to put more effort to coach us. You can tell you he's no "part time" amateur photographer even with his day job! He taught us to pose during our engagement shoot and our wedding day in September 2019. As a result, we now have 1000+ amazing photos to look back on. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! I was looking for a job for over 13 months. I would submit my resumes to many different job sites and most would never contact me. Of the few employers who contacted me, I never got through the first call or the first interview. One thing I noticed was that without exception someone from the company I submitted my resume to would always look at my LinkedIn profile page. My picture wasn't terrible at the time, but I thought if I'm doing all this work on my resumes and cover letters for my personal brand, it only makes sense to have a great picture to match them.
