TLDR; Authentic upscale Italian restaurants with many many ingredients flown in from Italy. Amazing flavours and such great quality within each dish. You know it's good when you can't go wrong with anything you order :) I've been here a handful of times but this time I came in for a quick bite on a Friday and, as expected, they were full. We sat by the bar but it was honestly an amazing experience. The Bartender (Jerry) was fun company and made us some delectable and beautiful custom cocktails of Gin Sour (8/10) and Lychee Martini (9/10). We started off with their Beef Tenderloin Carpaccio (8.5/10) which was very tender and light in flavour, and also their Grilled Octopus (10/10) which was perfectly grilled and a girthy size hahha! This sauce was sooo good btw - worth using all your sourdough bread to soak it up! Their Carbonara (10/10) was delicious, I was really craving carbonara and this hit. the. spot! Beautiful ambience, nicely decorated and all that, but after having been here twice, the service seems slow and the food is just ok. Nothing I'd crave or rave about to someone else. The wine list is decent, some value bottles and some more pricey options. read more

We've never been to the downtown location but came to check out Sotto Sotto Oakville for an occasion in February. The tiger shrimp appetizer was great. The broccoli orecchiette was okay, but the l'Amatriciana was great. We had the Tora Ricotta e Pera for dessert which was also good. read more

we enjoyed our take out via Sotto Sotto! we found this restaurant by looking up local italian restaurants in oakville and seeing that they have a successful toronto location too. the server was nice and friendly and recommended a few dishes / apps at the door and helped us confirm our order for us to share and enjoy individually for my best friend's birthday (in our car) there was another person working there, i believe the manager? he was a little rude and rushed us out the door. we spent quite a lot on this night and plan to come back when patio's open up - but, we hope that we are treated a little nicer. he seemed really aggressive and loud, but we didn't directly have to deal with him much - thankfully. read more

The tiramisu is absolutely divine. I think this is the best tiramisu I have ever had...no exaggeration!! It's not too sweet and tastes so authentic! Same with the pasta that was perfectly al dente and the portion size was plenty! Pizza was so tasty and the sauce had perfect amount of flavour and sauce! I will definitely be ordering from them again. They do sell out pretty fast for takeout FYI so be sure to order early!! read more

Food is fine, nothing out of the ordinary. This location lacks personality... my server also charged me for the wrong wine. In addition to that my shoe got stuck in their poorly designed bathroom drain. I waited for them to address this for over a month... nothing... Horrible customer service. I was simply trying to adjust my reservation time and a male waiter started yelling at me over the phone and accusing me of "gaming the system". He then proceeded to tell me me that if I wanted to keep my reservation, he would only give me the table for 1.5 hours. I wanted to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, but the historical reviews on the poor customer service / hospitality are true. Not fine dining at all. The bartender was rude and uninterested in serving us. The manager was loud and rude to his staff right in front of us. The food was on point but took an hour for the appetizers. Our server was friendly and accommodating she apologized for the wait and did offer us free desert. Margaret T So disappointing I brought my niece there for a 23rd birthday present. It was exceptionally disappointing from beginning to end. We went at noon. We received the menu as we sat down waited more than 15 minutes with absolutely no one acknowledging us. So I flagged down a waiter who said he was sorry because he hadn't noticed us. At that time I gave him our order. A reusable bottle of tap water was brought to us immediately (which was a charge of $8.50 on bill!). We waited another 10 minutes before a basket of 4 slices of totally stale bread was brought, of which 2 pieces were the heels of the bread! We waited another full 30 minutes for our meal. This was our first experience at Sotto Sotto after hearing so much about it and so we were super excited to check it out! We were celebrating our anniversary. We had high expectations but unfortunately we very underwhelmed and incredibly disappointed. We made a reso 1 week in advance however waited 20 minutes before we got seated. They were understaffed and the service was slow and terrible. We ordered Moroccan octopus and it was like rubber. Worst octopus we ever had! Our server could care less and was so nonchalant and . Our mains (veal piccata) were just "ok". Overall we were incredibly disappointed and will never go back! read more

Let me start by saying that I am a long-time patron of the Toronto location and have never been disappointed. I have wanted to try the Oakville restaurant for some time and was very very excited to get a New Year's Eve reservation. Other than that - that's where the positive comments end. While the location is superb and the building is elegant, the restaurant itself is a dump. Absolutely no style what-so-ever. Cramped space, with tables too close together, zero atmosphere (especially at the holidays) unless you consider the brown/dying plants as a barrier to the other table in front of me and the pile of boxes and other recycling clogging the window of the wine cellar that my partner and I were seated up against. Also, the washroom was filthy and tacky. The plastic plants and pile of dirty water under the hand dryer was especially gross. Shocked (totally). Now that I've set the ambiance - let me share our 'experience.' We walked in for our 9pm reservation, not greeted by anyone so I boldly said hi to the woman behind the bar. Someone came over and led us to our (tiny/squished) table. No one took my full-length coat, so I had to drape it over my chair with the bottom dragging on the floor and spilling into the path of the passing servers. There was a lame oil lamp on the table. The server came by and said, "oh looks like we didn't light the candle" and proceeded to walk away without lighting the candle. The place setting was a joke. Two dinner forks and two dinner knives each. We ordered a glass of wine each (rose and white). They were both room temperature. I ordered the arugula salad and calamari/shrimp combo. My partner had the Caesar salad and lamb. My salad had some lettuce, 2 tiny cherry tomatoes and some shaved parmesan cheese. What a joke for $18. His Caesarwas very mediocre and more croutons than "good stuff". My calamari were rubber and tasteless. I was starving so I ate about half. The shrimp was atrocious. The shell was fused to the meat,and I had to use my hand to attempt to get a bite. I gave up. My husband's lamb was also tasteless, in a watery broth. No one asked if we wanted fresh pepper - I had to ask for some pepper. It was table variety - not acceptable for a "high-end" restaurant. Close to the end of the dinner, the server asked, "did you want any bread at all with your dinner?". Ahhh no thanks. Ridiculous. We ordered one slice of tiramisu - it looked sloppy but was the best thing about the whole experience.  For the pleasure of what was listed above, we paid nearly $300. We are not wealthy people who eat out often and this was a HUGE treat. I cannot tell you how outrageously disappointing the meal was. I wish we'd stayed in and cooked. We'd have saved a bundle and the food would have been edible. I'd be happy to accept a refund and spend it on the Toronto location. Really really unacceptable experience. read more

Great local spot for a gourmet meal. Good wine selection and the food is creative and great quality. Carbonara is a favourite as well as any fish entree. Not cheap but not crazy either. Intimate atmosphere. read more
