Amazing food! Great service. To go we had pulled pork, Mac & cheese, collards, coleslaw and chocolate cake. We drank the juice from the collards!

Support local BBQ! In the same building as ACE hardware. Grab a meal and do some home improvement shopping. Ribs fall off the bone and have good smoke flavor. Chicken & brisket could use a bit longer in the smoker, but were still good. Sausage is the star. Absolutely delicious. BBQ sauces are really good. Mac N Cheese is excellent. Banana pudding was a bit of a letdown. Not very flavorful. The whiskey caramel sauce to go on top is perfect. Don't change that. Service was great. We'll be back!

Half bbq smoked fall of the bone chicken

I definitely recommend Almighty pit, this is a talented bbq crew. When we saw the big hardwood fired smoker chugging smoke outside this place we knew we had to try it. This was mid afternoon 3:15PM Friday 8/7/26. We live in Buford and aren't down this way often. They were sold out of pork which was a good sign to try that in the future. I had the hot buffalo wings, collard gumbo, and my wife had smoked half chicken and Mac & Cheese and later some banana pudding. We tried a bit of each other's meal. All epic and tasty, the half chicken was fall off the bone tender, well smoked and crazy good, the Mac and cheese served In a little cast iron skillet, the pasta was ridged for cheese retention, was creamy and delicious, huge portion too enough for 2 people. The hot buffalo wings large and meaty, tasty, spicy. They were an order of 8 and at 6' 7" tall 275 lbs I could only eat 5 of them. The wings were cooked fresh to order and took 15 minutes, but they brought out the other dishes as they made it, so it was all temperature hot. The collard gumbo was the bomb. At least 4 medium peeled shrimps were in it with tail on and and 2 small pieces of sausage, the collards themselves were the BOMB. I could tell they were freshly made, not canned. Collards were dark leafy greens but well cooked and seasoned these were also served in a small cast iron skillet, I ate all the collards. Epic collards I can't stress this enough. If you need a collard green fix go to Almighty pit. They had several unique bbq sauces too, blueberry, guava, and a 3rd one. Portions were big and prices reasonable for the portion sizes. I should mention on the menu. The only chicken wing flavor mentioned was lemon pepper, which we learned from their chef. Stan, is their signature flavor wing, I will definitely try those next time. We had a nice visit with him, and learned they just opened earlier in 2026. This man and his team know what they are doing. Just stand in the parking lot and take a whiff of that big giant smoker they have and you will know you're at a great place. We didn't try the brisket, only later on as I was reading reviews I saw some people mention the Brisket here is a little different. But based on what I saw when we were dining in and in the pictures in reviews Almighty Pit's brisket looks like the kind served at Jasper's BBQ in Waco, TX. Jasper's has been open for over 100 years, is world famous, and they are known for their unique brisket, and I can't wait to try. Almighty pits brisket in the future. I am going to attach pictures of our actual plates. We had they put a tasty unique seasoning blend on top of my buffalo wings and my wife's mac & cheese. Later on we had the banana pudding, which was fluffy, Rich, not too sweet, not an overbearing banana flavor, but tasted like something. My grandmother would've prepared. We were stuffed and unable to eat all of our food and got to go containers, which I should mention are high-quality containers. I should mention the staff was very friendly, attentive, answered our questions and delightful. I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I believe these people are gonna be famous one day for bbq in Georgia.

Almighty Pit BBQ was set to be the first SCATHING review I had ever done. If you have followed me or read my reviews in the past 15 years, you know I'm not typically one to write negative reviews. Even on the rare occasion that I'm provoked, I try to be constructive. But this review was gonna be way outside my norm! I was infuriated with the food and the service, but decided to give them another try instead of giving a harsh review. [ FIRST VISIT ] It was the day before the 2026 Superbowl, and everything seemed to be wrong with every part of my experience. No plates offered, no napkins, website was incorrect, food was terrible and came out at different times and overall service was lacking. The spare ribs were way overcooked, extremely greasy and mushy while the brisket was under-cooked and tough. The yams were okay, but the mac n' cheese was blah. The collard greens (spelled callard on menu) tasted two weeks old and the sweet tea was just brown water and not very sweet at all. Their rating on GOOGLE was 4.9 after 105 reviews, driving our decision to give them a try. TOTAL FAIL!!! SIDE NOTE: I should mention the owner did refund me for the brisket and collards after seeing how unhappy we were, but not for the whole meal, which imho should have been his response. [ SECOND VISIT ] However upsetting my experience was, I decided to come back just to see if this is truly how they operate. I returned on Monday, the day after the Superbowl and although the hours on the door suggested they should be open, they were not. STRIKE TWO!!! [ THIRD VISIT ] Came back again the following day on Tuesday and they were indeed open for business. The lady taking my order was different than the one on Saturday and she knocked it out of the park with her customer service. Friendly, informative and made sure I had everything I needed to eat my meal as well as brought a variety of sauces and napkins. I ordered the pork spare ribs, beef ribs at her high recommendation (which were not on the printed menu), and fried catfish plate with a side of french fries. This was far more food than I could eat in one sitting, but I wanted to really give them a chance. The difference in the ribs on this visit verses my first were night and day in every way. I will admit the seasoning was better on my first visit, but everything else about them was good. One customer recommended the habanero sauce and it was a great complement to the PORK RIBS. (3.75 stars) Afraid to try the BEEF BRISKET again, I opted for the BEEF RIB instead. They were tougher and less meaty than I expected, but the bark flavor was good and he added two additional bones, making it much more worthy of the price. (3 stars) Finally, the FRIED CATFISH (3.75 stars). Picture perfect in its golden presentation and meatiness. Could have used a tad more seasoning, so I added a little salt. Otherwise pretty good! The fries were also good. I did not order any drinks or sides (other than the fries that came with the catfish plate) and my total with tax came to around $53 or basically $17 for each meal I got out of my visit. [ VERDICT ] I'm happy that I returned and came away with a better experience than my first. Time will tell me which experience was the real one, since both were completely different. However, I've got a good feeling that first visit was just one of those Murphy's Law days! In the mean time, I will be conservative with my rating until I have a few more visits under my belt (literally). 3 stars overall counting the first visit. Looking forward to trying the shrimp & grits offered on weekends for breakfast.

It was a nice day after the storm passed from the other day so we decided to sit outside to enjoy our dinner. She ended getting the BBQ pulled pork sandwich on Texas toast with fries and I got the Cajun Fried Ribs with Mac n cheese. The pull pork sandwich was a little dry so she added the spicy ranch to make it taste better. The Cajun fried ribs were flavorful with the spicy ranch. The sweet tea was to die for and was so refreshing, which it hit the spot. Our server was nice and helpful and the service was fast.

That is how much trust I had in them. I ordered takeout from the Lawrenceville location and was a little more than halfway through my potato salad when my spoon hit something it wouldn't go through. I pulled it out thinking it was a dark piece of food, only to realize it appeared to be a tightly rolled/twisted piece of a black disposable food-service glove embedded in my potato salad. I had already eaten more than half of it. I immediately called the restaurant and spoke with the manager on duty, who told me their food is made fresh and gloves are changed frequently and said, "If I was making the potato salad, that wouldn't be in there. That wouldn't happen." I was told a district manager would contact me. Nobody did. After more than 24 hours with no call, no follow-up, and not even a refund, I called the restaurant again myself. The second manager I spoke with was genuinely disturbed by what happened and couldn't believe nobody had contacted me or refunded my order. He told me he would personally reach out to management, and I still heard nothing. At that point, I reported the incident to Environmental Health, who told me they would be following up with the restaurant and conducting an inspection. I'm not writing this because I enjoy hurting a local business. Quite the opposite. This was a restaurant my family supported for years and trusted with our wedding. But finding what appears to be part of a disposable glove embedded in food I had already mostly eaten is completely unacceptable, and the complete lack of response from management has made it worse. Mistakes happen, but a disposable glove does not belong in someone's potato salad, and when something this serious happens, the customer should not have to chase management just to get a response. I wasn't expecting anything extravagant. I expected a phone call, an apology, an explanation of how this happened, and some reassurance that it was being addressed. Instead, after years of supporting this restaurant, I couldn't even get a phone call or a refund. That's unacceptable. UPDATE: The owner, Brad, called me regarding this complaint. During our conversation, I told him that after finding a piece of glove in my food, I expected a refund for my meal because, frankly, I feel that is the least the restaurant could do. His response was, "So that's just what you want, money? You're just looking for money." He also questioned whether the material could have come from their restaurant. To be clear, I am not "looking for money." I am asking to be refunded for a meal that had a foreign object in it. I contacted the restaurant first and waited two days for someone to address this before contacting the health department. This restaurant catered my wedding, so I did not make this complaint lightly. I expected the situation to be taken seriously, an apology, and a refund for the meal. Instead, I was made to feel as though I was being accused of having some financial motive for reporting what I found. Customers deserve to know how a legitimate food-safety complaint was handled.

Seating is very close and intimate and nice music is playing in the background. At first glance it seemed like a place you would want to come back to again and again. The waitress/cashier was very welcoming upon our entrance. I don't know if she was one of the owners but she was very nice and apologetic. We drove 30 minutes to try out this restaurant and let's just say it was not worth the drive. Since it was our first time there we were excited to try some of the ribs. Unfortunately they were out of the pork ribs. They were also out of the mac and cheese. That was a little disappointing but I figured because we got there around 7 and they close at 8 they could have run out of items. No biggie. We opted to get the fried chicken with fries and fried mushrooms. I got the pulled pork sandwich with onion rings, and a lemonade. The lemonade was perfect, to me it wasn't too sweet and had just enough tartness to make you want to drink more. Presentation was EVERYTHING. When the sandwich came out I wasn't even sure how to eat it lol. It looked great on the wooded plate. I wish the plates would have been bigger because the sandwich was a little sloppy, nonetheless it was presented very classy. The bowl that the onion rings came in was also wood and it was cute and different. I have not seen dishes like this before. The chicken was on one of the wooded classy plates a little small for the chicken but cute as well. Now here is the part where I had to deduct stars. The chicken was fried perfectly, it was juicy, crispy and hot. The only thing that was missing was the seasoning. It was very bland there was absolutely no salt or pepper or any flavoring that I could taste on the chicken. I just knew we couldn't go wrong with the chicken because after all it is a bbq spot right? Wrong..maybe because it was late they were just trying to get the food out so they could go home. But whatever the case it was not good. We did not have any bbq sauce or hot sauce. It wasn't offered and we didn't ask. Same thing with the fried mushrooms. The coating did not have any flavor and we did not have any dipping sauce. Again we didn't ask and it wasn't offered. The waitress did provide ketchup with both meals, but I feel like something was off with the flavoring. The onion rings were good and the steak fries were good. I would not drive that distance just for those items. One couple at a table next to ours had something that looked like fish or very large chicken tenders. Either way hers did look good but I wondered if it had any flavor. Hers was plain, no sauce or anything like that. I did see she had something to dip the food in and it looked like she enjoyed it. As I mentioned previously it is a very cosy atmosphere. It was very humid inside though and the sunlight was beaming in hard. The waitress tried to close the curtains but that didn't help much because the curtains were kind of see-through so the sun still hit us hard in the face and back, and again because it was so late maybe they had turned down the a/c. The waitress did apologize but basically there was nothing she could do about that. They do have a rewards program that you can sign up for to aquire points and discounts on things but I wasted time signing up because I will not be returning. I was so excited to have a new bbq place to frequent but unfortunately this will not be the one. To end on a positive note, the presentation was everything and the environment was very inviting.

The dining area looked clean and well-kept, and the hostess/cashier was genuinely friendly--she took the time to walk us through the menu, drinks, sauces, and even the different pickles, which I appreciated. We ordered the brisket, ribs, mac & cheese, green beans, two sauces (both free), house and spicy pickles (also free), and a Banana Cream Soda. 2 Slices of Brisket - $9 (3.5/5): The brisket was solid overall--tender with a nice, juicy interior and a lightly smoky aroma that came through in each bite. It wasn't dry at all, which is always a win, though it could've had a bit more depth in flavor on its own. That said, it really came alive when paired with the spicy sauce, which added a bold, tangy kick that elevated the meat nicely. 2 Pork Spare Ribs - $7 (4/5): These were definitely a highlight. The ribs were beautifully seasoned with a savory, slightly sweet rub that formed a flavorful crust on the outside. The meat was incredibly tender--so much so that it fell clean off the bone with just a fork, no effort needed. Juicy, rich, and super satisfying, especially with the spicy sauce adding an extra layer of heat and tang. Mac & Cheese - $4.50 (4/5): Very impressive side. The spiral noodles were cooked perfectly--tender but still holding their shape, not mushy at all. What stood out most was the texture: there was a subtle crunch on top, possibly from a light breadcrumb or rice-based topping, which added a nice contrast. The cheese sauce was creamy, rich, and coated every curve of the spirals, so each bite had these little pockets of cheesy goodness that almost "popped" with flavor. The sprinkle of green onions on top added a fresh, slightly sharp brightness that cut through the richness and made the dish feel surprisingly refreshing. Green Beans - $4.50 (3.5/5): These had a great bite to them--crisp-tender with a fresh, vibrant texture. The seasoning was flavorful with a savory base, but what surprised me most was the subtle heat that built up as you ate more. It wasn't overpowering, just a nice, unexpected kick that made them more interesting than your typical side. House Pickles (free) - 2/5: These were very crunchy and had a sharp, vinegary tang that leaned heavily on the sour side. While they were fresh and crisp, the flavor felt a bit one-dimensional and overly acidic for my taste. Spicy Pickles (free) - 4/5: Much better balance here. Still nice and crunchy with that same sour backbone, but the added heat gave them a bold, zesty edge that made them way more enjoyable. The spice lingered just enough to keep you reaching for another. Banana Cream Soda - $2 (2.5/5): This was light, fizzy, and refreshing with a smooth, slightly creamy mouthfeel. The banana flavor was present but very subtle--more of a faint, artificial sweetness than a rich, ripe banana taste. It leaned more toward a mellow vanilla-cream soda vibe with just a hint of banana in the background. Not bad, just a bit underwhelming if you're expecting a bold, dessert-like banana flavor. Overall, a solid BBQ spot with friendly service and some standout items--especially the ribs and mac & cheese. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the mood for a laid-back, no-frills lunch.
