When I first saw this, I was excited. I just moved to Columbus, these type of Chinese BBQ not many around. Upon my arrival, there is no parking, you have to park on the street, but the street parking is always full. I arrived around 6pm on the weeknights, the place is tiny, only few people I seated, scanned the menu, and I can ordered on my phone I thought this was one of them you grill your own BBQ place, but is not, very disappointed They grilled in the kitchen and bring it out to you. Honestly with so little they offered, is kind of expensive. First of all, they don't know that I ordered and I get my order 10 minutes later. Second of all the food comes out so hot that I literally burnt my legs on the vermicelli. Portions are a little small for what you're ordering. Not sure I would go back considering I have to go get a skin graft on my upper left thigh. I went back to the restaurant to explain my situation and Bao was completely nice and understanding about the ridiculously hot food in the takeout container. This place is definitely unique, and I think I didn't exactly know what I was doing. This place is extremely casual, and for those who know, I don't recommend going on hair washing day . It's very small, and most people appeared to get take out. Per usual, we ordered A LOT... and all at one time. That was our mistake. I recommend ordering your food a few skewers at a time so the food doesn't have time to get cold. They offer a warming grate, but it doesn't do much. Initially, I loved the skewers. However, they use the same seasonings on everything... which gets a little overwhelming. I really enjoyed the green beans, chicken, wings, potatoes,and beef; my husband enjoyed the prawns and lamb (I don't like either meat, so I didn't try those). The hotdog was 'ok'. While visiting, I was in the mood for Chinese food and decided to try after reading solid reviews. I had never done Chinese bbq, so this was a first--and overall, I was pleasantly surprised. The setup is modern and efficient: you scan a barcode at your table, order online, and the food is brought right to you. The system is quick, and our dishes came out fast. We tried a wide variety of skewers--chicken, pork belly, chicken wings, beef, lamb, and even potato. All were flavorful and well-cooked. The fried rice was absolutely delicious. There's a lot more on the menu too; I didn't get to try the fried ramen this time, but thats on my list for the next visit. My only challenge was with the spice level. Dishes marked spicy were definitely spicy (as expected), but even some items without a spice warning--like the potato skewers--came out with some heat. It seems they have a house seasoning that goes on everything. I mean, I can handle it, but some of my party aren't big on spice and couldn't enjoy certain dishes as much as they'd hoped. Without traditional waiter interaction, it's tough to ask questions or request "no spice" in real time if you've never tried as in our case. I testes and noted "no spicy" on another order for chicken, and that seemd to work, so there is an option for this, but if you don't know about it, may be an issue. Having an option for spice level when ordering online--or a quick check-in from staff--would really help. One more tip: parking can be tricky. We weren't expecting to spend extra time searching, so plan ahead and be ready to find street parking nearby. Service was friendly, the food was tasty, and it's clear they're used to a quick, in-and-out crowd (college town vibes). Zhu SHI Fu is a unique barbecue restaurant that specializes in northern Chinese skewers and stir fry dishes. The place is tiny and quaint with some unique Asian decorations. The menu focuses on skewers and casseroles. The options are simple from chicken to shrimp to lamb. The seasoning is not spicy but more cumin forward and goes will with alcohol. The place allows BYOB and that's how traditional Chinese places do it. You order bunch of skewers and drink through the night chitchatting with your friends. They do have vegetarian options in green beans or potato. The fried rice and ramen are flavorful but skewers is where it's at. The service is very quick and easy. You can the barcode on the table and place your order. It was sad to see the place kind of empty on Friday night, we need more authentic places like these around town. The food was good! A unique menu that I haven't seen before in Columbus. The skewers were good and had a strong cumin flavor. The potato and fried rice were average but we were happy with them. The salted egg yolk chicken wings were a favorite, so good! The service was subpar, they don't check up on tables or water. Seems like I've been waiting almost a year for this to open, since I saw the "coming soon" sign while going to a show at Rumba. Finally opened last week, evening hours only, and I found a chance to swing by. It's tiny, in a space that has been sandwich shops and other things over the years. Fully redecorated into a very cool, authentically Chinese spot, with an authentic menu. There are a dozen or so two-tops, which they can rearrange for larger parties. Some carryout business when I was there, but plenty of dine-in. They set the tables with nice glasses, a small grill, etc. Should have dined in but took it out. Go to the coffee shop down the way or the record store (THE record store, IYKYK) across the street while you wait. Parking can be a hassle in this neighborhood. Service was great even for a to-go person like me; when I came back and had to wait a bit longer, they sat me down and gave me ice water. Super friendly and knowledgeable, and patient with someone who didn't know what everything was. Fairly limited menu with meat or veggie skewers, and a few entrees and apps. I got an assortment. The skewers were perfectly cooked and seasoned; a hint of heat in some but not hot. The cabbage was nicely grilled and tasty. The special lamb was my favorite, seconded by the beef. I also got a regular (smaller and less seasoned) lamb and a pork belly. Still pretty good. Also a Chinese hot dog, a sausage that is very close to a frankfurter, slivered so it grills up nice (almost seems deep fried) and lightly seasoned. And, I got cheese corn. I'd heard about it but never seen it, and was curious. Huge bowl for $4.50. And: it's cheese and corn, mixed together, broiled maybe, so there's a nice brown top. Very good. This and the hot dog would be good if you have kids with you. Everything was good, some of it was great, and there a few other things on the menu that I really want to try. The food is amazing. We first went on a Saturday and ate in restaurant. This time I Ubered an order. The Pork Sausage on a stick is amazing. The cucumber salad had so much flavor. The Enoki mushrooms will keep me coming back again and again. The restaurant is super small so I probably won't be dinner in again but take out is a must. It's pretty inexpensive so you can get the bang for your buck. I'll be dreaming about those mushrooms until I can have them again. read more

Seriously not a bad bite. We got the cold spicy cucumbers, bone marrow, the eggplant, the cheese corn, the vermicelli with shrimp. Skewers: beef, pork belly with garlic, hot dog, chicken skin, green beans, potato, beef, and gluten. Prices are so reasonable, and everything is tasty. An absolute 10/10! I come to Columbus frequently for business and I had ZSF a few weeks ago via UberEats. It was really good. I came today in person and it was absolutely fantastic. The skewers were all cooked and seasoned perfectly, but the bone marrow was a game changer. There are some pieces of seasoned meat still attached that are delicious, but I could drink a gallon of the marrow. Tastes and feels like authentic China. The staff was attentive and fast! New joiner to the last night [5pm to 2am] spot around Columbus, their retro décor definitely will make you feel like you are teleport back to China. Their BBQ offering have a great mix of protein and veggies, along with options on soup, rice and noodles. I can't tell you enough how much I love their BBQ seasoning. The flavor is just on point and not over powering. Beside the BBQ department, I have to also mention the soup and noodles side of the house. Amazing skewers served here! Place was a little hard to get to due to the location. I'm usually the type to keep out of the "downtown" areas unless I have to anyhow. Once there, I was luck enough to find a parking spot literally in front of the entrance. The industrial look they had going fits right into the vibe they're going for. We honestly felt like we were out of town, state and/or country, and it worked. Service was awesome, ordering process was like most sichuan restaurants where you order thru an app (which we love). But the food, the food was to notch. You can smell and the taste charcoa they used to cook the meat. My son loved the potato skewers too!
