The float tank
Naomi C.

I haven't floated alone or for more than 20 Minutes ever, but as an introvert confronted with the reality of living in a full house during a pandemic with no escape, I asked my husband to find a float spa and gift it to me. (Yes this is how married people do holiday gifting when they're tired and old lol). I booked within about a month and was able to get in the next day. The spa entrance is located on 11th not Mass which requires a little finding but the receptionist answers promptly and directs efficiently. The street parking near Mass is touch and go but there is a garage at this location though I cannot vouch for pricing as I found metered street parking. The check in was quick and effortless as I'd done my waivers and created an account online. The receptionist provided me with sandals-- you leave your shoes in a cubby in the lobby-- and walked me to my room. The room is huge and the float tank is bigger than it seems. There is a shower in the room but the full bathrooms are in the hallway. Guests are asked to shower, remove all hair products and skin creams before entering the float and they provide shampoo, conditioner and body wash. They also provide a towel-- more than one might be reasonable given the showering before and after and they forgot my robe. Thank goodness I didn't have to go to the bathroom! They also provided ear plugs and other small packages toiletries, which I highly recommend you use. Highly. I forgot to use the earplugs and my ears popped for HOURS after my float. They fill the tub in front of you and you're able to inspect. It was immaculately clean of course. COVID protocols are the reason the linens and toiletries are removed from the room. Everything is removed and sanitized between each guest. The bathroom in the hallway has a hair dryer but, again, the toiletries have been removed. They have a lotion dispenser, but I found it clogged and incapable of dispensing anything. The shower was great and it takes just about the same length of time for the tank to fill as to shower which is perfect! I LOVED THE FLOAT but since it was my first time, opted to keep the lights on and, as I mentioned previously, forgot to use the earplugs. The spa is off Mass which is VERY BUSY and I found myself getting distracted by cars, elevators, sirens etc... I truly think al lot of this would disappear with the earplugs. Nevertheless, I emerged from my 60 minutes refreshed, rejuvenated and FULLY RELAXED. I cannot wait to go back!! The receptionist is so nice and it is so quiet and peaceful there.

I would love for my family and friends to experience what I did! The ambience andI staff members were so welcoming! 10 out of 10..... I'm so glad, I kicked off my birthday weekend with @SoulexDC & I will be back with friends and family members

Doesn't it look like a lil beluga whale??? Obsessed!

I am actually at a loss for the right words to describe this incredible experience. I can't wait to go again. This was my first session--ever. And I elected to have calming (for me) rain sounds and no lights. I will admit that during my first realization that I would be in complete darkness, I had a mild panic attack but I think the chamber and how relaxed I was ensured I didn't have a freak out. During the session I was able to reach a deeper relaxed and meditative state that took me years to attain as a person who practices mindfulness daily. The facility was impeccably cleaned and this business is adhering to COVID protocols so I was able to fully relax. Staff was exceptionally welcoming and very informative. I look forward to returning. If you're thinking about doing this, I definitely would. POST Session Benefits I've Experienced: Immediate clarity, heightened creativity, and focus. I'm excited to see what changes I notice after more habitual incorporation into my routine. Thanks for reading.

Hot tea.

This was so relaxing and peaceful. This is a must try experience. I came home and slept 8 hours. I did my float completely closed!! Afterwards I enjoyed a nice hot tea.

I truly enjoyed my experience here. I was instantly put at ease the moment I walked in because the spa has such a relaxing environment. Complimentary herbal tea was provided while we waited for our appointment. We recieved a quick tour of the facility and then into the pods we went! You have a private room with your own pod, towel, washcloth, robe, soap, lotion, shampoo, and conditioner. Once inside the pod it's just you and your thoughts. I felt completely at peace, but an hour was too long to spend with my thoughts (lol). This was a one-time only experience for me. I'd consider returning if they offered mini floats that were 30-40 minutes, or other unique services like a mud soak.

Its not my cup of tea, but it was a great experience with my friends. The three of us were able to book separate rooms for the same time. Our appts were for an hour....I freaked out about 15mins in but got my bearings soon after. The rooms are very nice with a shower included and other small items you may need. The reception was very pleasing. I forget the guy's name but we talked real estate afterwards. He was so gentle in energy, I trusted him from check-in. The "stress" tea they had for us to sip on was just delicious I found myself purchasing a jar on my way back. To float may be relaxing for many, but I think a more hands-on massage is more my speed. The floating stressed me out more than anything...it was all mental not the pod. You should go - I did

I had a great experience floating for the first time. The spa is spotless clean and beautiful. I was worried my neck might be sore after floating but they also provided a head pillow. My body does feel really loose and soft from the epsom salt bath.

Daily practice of TM has greatly improved my degree of focus and fulfillment during the work day. It's not a religion or a philosophy, but it has become as essential to my daily wellness as taking a shower. Attending a free, no-pressure intro talk was a great way for us to learn what it's all about, and to learn how it significantly differs from other forms of meditation. They do those intro talks weekly. The technique is very simple and it's effect is powerful. Even as I hope the foundation can find a model for the course to cost less and reach more people, with hindsight, I'd have paid more than I did to learn it. It's been that impactful for my family. The value is strong given the lifetime access to TM teachers internationally, group meditations, and interactions with other meditators. I'd also recommend reading the book "Strength In Stillness" before deciding either way. If you take the dive, commit to it and stick with it! It worked for us.

For people who are interested in spiritual and personal growth from a Western Buddhist psychology…read moreperspective, I highly recommend this organization. It is founded and led by highly trained and compassionate people who, in my experience, encourage an individualized approach and welcome honest feedback. One trainer I especially appreciate is Stan Eisenstein. I have taken a number of courses from him and for over 2 years have attended a daily weekday Telesangha that I find extremely helpful. The latest course with him and co-leader Ruth Zanoni, who was also excellent, was a 17 week course on living with chronic pain and chronic illness using a Western Buddhist psychology framework and an experiential methodology with easily accessible homework. It is so helpful that I encourage all who live with chronic pain and/or illness to consider the course "Inviting Chronic Pain and Illness to Tea". My perspective comes from a 40 year career as a licensed master-level clinical social worker in private practice who has worked psychodynamically in her own practice and her own personal psychotherapy.

He taught each of the enneatypes with respect to the 3 foundations of mindfulness - body, heart and mind - and how each of those mindfulness practices could be a source of support for us as we learn to loosen up our attachment to the egoic aspects of our enneatype. His teaching style is relaxed and relational and he never seemed rushed with any of our questions or observations but rather would take the time to explore them. I recommend keeping an eye out for the next time he offers the course.

What a peaceful place to come before or after work. This place speaks women empowerment to me…read more There is a lot of zen and positive vibes in the room. You can have tea, water, or san pellegrino before diving into a stress relief meditation, emotion based training, or breathing session. Caitlin, Kirsten, and Emily are all really kind and wonderful teachers. They explain different stones with healing properties and really help you destress in the 30 minute or 1 hour session. You can come wearing your work clothes or anything you find comfortable and either lie down or sit up in a position that makes you feel comfortable during meditation and that's what I appreciate about Glow Club. I ended up purchasing the 10 credit pack after a free session and have had a solid experience. I look forward to trying some yoga in the fall when the class is available. The evening glow is probably my favorite class at the moment. The breathing class was intense for me and I would like to try it again to really get into it. I found myself forgetting to go with the rhythm during active breathing and almost falling asleep. I live and work in Silver Spring so I can only attend evening classes but these classes are great as a "cool down" post work out as well.
