Paid for a routine cleaning service. A couple months prior I installed a new oil burner along with…read morea few other components. It ran a little rough for a couple months with no real issue but decided to get a professional to adjust the air and etc. So to start the tech who did the service over tightened the thread on the drawer assembly cross threading it and causing it to leak an insane amount two days after service. An emergency tech comes to tell me that it probably was like that from the manufacturer (even though it was running fine before the service and I personally installed and inspected the drawer assembly two months prior.) He proceeded to tell me that it would cost $500 or more to have it fixed... gave them the benefit of the doubt just to be ignored and blocked by them. After installing another drawer assembly, I thought all would be good. But the tech did not tighten the set screws enough and the oil burner had fallen out of place causing a bunch more combustion issues. Also had to buy a stand for the burner to prevent it happening again. The oil pressure was also jacked all the way up( I assume by the emergency tech because it was leaking) instead of telling me any of this I had to fix it on my own. I was going to let it go until I was ignored and blocked. I get companies have to make money but it's the bare minimum being honest. And if you were an honest company you would have helped fix the problem you caused instead of gaslighting me and saying it will cost 500-700$. Especially when the part is less than 80$ and takes less than 10 minutes to swap.

Our house had hydronic heat on the first floor, but electric baseboards on the second. We wanted to get rid of the electric heat, and solicited several quotes. Jay was great, discussed multiple options, but was honest and up front that the tech guys would have to come out to really evaluate the feasibility and design of the project. Good indication of integrity up front. Tyler, the co-owner and lead installer, came out several days later to do a more thorough evaluation. Extremely courteous, professional, polite, and accommodating. Highly knowledgeable as well. Explained all the options and designs, and their pros and cons. No sales pitches etc. Just the facts. Really made the effort to preserve the character of our older style home. When his team started working, all very courteous, professional, knowledgeable. Showed up with masks and booties to protect our floors. Worked quickly and efficiently. Tyler was there the whole time, welcomed any questions, described exactly what they were doing and why. The finished product is superb, and blends perfectly into the house. All the work was done with the outmost attention to detail. When we ran the heat last night there was a problem, it would not shut off. I called Tyler, he called me back within 15 minutes, and was at our house within a half hour. The problem turned out to be an old defective valve in the pre-existing pump (which he could not have known about at the time). He worked to diagnose the problem and fixed it on the spot. Really cannot ask for anything more. Tyler and his team are superb. They should be teaching seminars on customer relationship building. Lastly, about the price. Are they the cheapest HVAC contractor out there? No. But their quote was very competitive. You may pay a little bit more than the cheapest bid, but you will not find his level of perfectionism anywhere else.

The new cold weather heat pump technology has had my interest. I currently had oil forced air as our neighborhood didn't have natural gas. Jonathon (the owner) took the time to explain technology and process process. I settled on a hybrid, Trane heat pump with oil backup for heat. Heat pump for AC. The price was ok.Not the cheapest, but I wanted quality over saving a buck. TRANE is made in USA. He offered financing or a cash discount. Installation went with no problem. James took time to explain how it worked and the control board. 2 months later,after a very cold December, we're still very happy with the system. Yes, electric bill is higher but offset by virtually no oil. The only area of improvement might be the cost of the annual service agreement. Seems high. Custom Climates isn't on many people's mind for HVAC, but it should be.

We tried to use our AC right before an upcoming heat advisory and it wasn't working. Called Brookside, they sent a tech to diagnose the issues, that's all fine. The estimates they provided turned out to be grossly inflated (it feels like they came to a nice looking neighborhood and tried to take advantage of us) and then, when we told them we needed to have working AC within a few days time (for my son's birthday party) they made it seem like they were accommodating us by sending someone on a Friday, but that wasn't the case. They sent someone who wouldn't be able to make the fix (doesn't even carry materials on his truck) - they were trying to keep us on the line so that they could eventually get us on their schedule to charge an engorged rate. We ended up calling a local company run by two guys who are phenomenal, they came after hours (and didn't even charge us OT rates, just as a courtesy) and fixed our AC in three hours, charging FIVE TIMES less than what Brookside quoted.

I called Ray to let him know I have purchased my own units and need him to do ducting. He right…read moreaway said he doesn't install because people complain later about the warranty, I said to him, I understand, and all I need it ducting I don't need him to install the units as we had already installed or will be installing, as there were 7 in total, I had gotten one installed all ready for him to the duct. He agreed to come to check out the scope of work. He came out and assessed the work, and one of our units had less freon he offered to put it in for $50, but said there might be dirt in the line and it needed a cleaning and would cost $450. I opted for the $450, he said he didn't have time to do that, but could do the $50 freon top-up, I said ok, but then he didn't have his tools, and so we agreed to do it the following week. His brother had died and he went for his funeral and did come back the following Monday, we did wait all week, as we thought he was a good fit for the job. The second time he came by, he was there for the $450 fix, but by then we had decided to upgrade the unit and so we did not need the $450 service to be done on that day, as we would get a new unit with the gas in there, and so I asked him about the ductwork quote. He started talking badly about the units we had bought, this and that, warranty, parts, and all that, I mentioned to him, that I was clear he would not be responsible for the brand, we bought a Toshiba brand, and he uses Daikan. I mentioned to him, I know Daikan is a good brand. He asked me how much i paid for my units, then said his units are going to cost more, I said to him, I am not interested in buying units from him as I already know what I want, and need him to do the ducting and that this is a rental property and so I am okay with what I have. His remark was that it looks like, I am trying to cut corners and so he would not be interested in doing the work. I asked him again, that I only asked him to do the ductwork, which has nothing do to with the units as we would be installing our own and don't need his assistance, he said he would not be doing the duct work, I asked why he said he just didn't want to do it. Basically, he was trying to sell his own Daikan brand units to me whereas we know there is a margin for the installer when they sell their own product, which is perfectly fine, but when I called him and made it clear to him that all we need is ducting work to be done, which is a service. He should have stuck to that, and nothing more should have been said, he wasted 2 weeks of our time in all this, and we had to get a whole new set of quotes and select someone else to do the work. Not happy with his work ethic.
