Clean ... Nice bartenders.. Cool management. Awesome entertainment...

My friends and I came from out of town to visit this bar for a friends birthday and it turned out to be one of the worst experiences ever. From the moment we walked in we were harassed and grabbed by the arm from one of the employees there who came out of nowhere to ask for IDs. Being this is the first time coming here, we we're confused but we showed our IDs and proceeded in. But still shook at the fact that he grabbed us. As we sat down and ordered drinks one of my friends spilt a drink where he later had to come clean, but in doing that he throws my friends purse and jacket to another table getting it soaking wet. At this point we can tell this guy has a problem with us. We choose to ignore his behavior UNTIL... he shoves my friend while calling her a bitch! This is when we had to say something to him and the manager. There was confrontation between my friends and the employee who was harassing us and things began to escalate. I had to speak with the manager outside and she even admitted that there "might be something wrong with him I don't know but he seems like a nice guy." You don't know your employees? After speaking with the manager we tried again, and that's when ANOTHER employee comes and tries to pick a fight with my friend. Things got out of hand and we left. As we were walking outside another two men told us the employees there are racists. I would have to believe it because there was no other reason we should have been treated this way. I will be reporting this to the BBB, and I am considering legal action. read more

What a fun bar! The place was super fun and great atmosphere. The DJ for karaoke had a great personality and made everyone feel comfortable. If we ever get back down to Galveston, this will definitely be a stop on our agenda! read more

My friends and I went to Sound Bar tonight and I would not recommend this place AT ALL. One of us asked for a water cup and were told "no, there's a one drink requirement, you guys can't just come here and hang out." Then all but maybe 3 of us hadn't bought a drink yet and the bartender was extremely rude and was pointing and talking about us from across the bar like a high schooler. The man running karaoke refused to allow anyone to sing who hadn't bought a drink. We were there for under 30 minutes and had already bought 6 or 7 drinks all together. We were having a good time like everyone else in the bar which in turn would encourage us to buy more drinks but that was shot down very quick by the RUDE service of everyone working here. My husband and I were in Galveston for a mini honeymoon and we found this place. I am a huge karaoke fan and I enjoyed everything about this place. The sound system is fantastic. If you are a great singer, okay singer or just avid karaoke goer you will appreciate the system. The feel of the bar is great, drinks were reasonably priced and everyone was very friendly, they also have karaoke every night of the week. If I lived here, I would most definitely frequent this place! Check it out. read more

The rudest service I have ever encountered. They told us that our entire group of 14 that we had to buy a drink or we had to leave. All but 2 of us bought a drink and the bartender started to point and glare at us. The female behind the bar was very rude from the start. This bar could have been so fun, but the bartender and honestly all the staff was horrible and so disrespectful. read more

We usually have a good time when Debbie is the DJ, last night was a horrible experience...I took a friend from out of town and was humiliated by the DJ which was some guy with bushy dreadlocks... first of all he kept moving me back on the list he put the same singers on stage over and over, then the DJ himself got up to sing which was not flattering for him, meanwhile lots of other people are waiting to sing including myself... when I was finished singing he yelled at me to bring him the mic and had a very condescending attitude towards me and then over the loud speaker he said that I suck, it was embarrassing in front of my out of town date, He was not very professional and in my opinion not good for business, I am an island local, and I have no problem telling people not to patron this place for so many bad problems, and if I ever go there again and he is working I will not stay read more

Worst experience. I waked and was treated very rudely. The female behind the bar seemed annoyed for us to be there and didn't want to be helpful. The karaoke was horrible and the music was so old I don't even think I was alive when it came out. Don't come here it sucks. read more

The wife and I stopped into here because we love karaoke and since we were in Galveston we took a chance on a spot we had searched for on Yelp. The only reason this didn't get my 5 star rating was only because we were there before happy hour was done and I specifically asked the waitress what was under their special for happy hour and she just showed me the lines of beer lined up along the top shelf of the bar. Modelo Especial being at the end of the row I picked that, started my tab under the understanding they'd be $2 a beer. I got 2 more before we and when we closed out I was surprised af to see my tab coming out to $25, so when I asked the blonde short haired bartender dismissed me and was just like "sorry you didn't understand what you were asking for." And I was like "oh bet. Let me get on stage and sing a song dedicated to you." (Needless to say I crushed the rendition of Z-Ro's "I Hate You B***") and acknowledged the bartender with a thumbs down. The DJ was friendly super cool and he did his best to find me some songs I felt comfortable signing and even gave me that boost that he was impressed and that encouraged me to come back through when we're in town. Most definitely not opening a tab, pay cash only, and make sure you're clear when talking to the blonde short haired "sweet" biker chick looking woman behind the bar or just wait for another bartender. read more

The SoundBar in Galveston is a wonderful place to host your gathering or to have a night out for beverages, fun, and some karaoke in Downtown Galveston! As an attendee of our company Christmas party of Ryson Real Estate and Vacation Rental, I enjoyed the SoundBar atmosphere! It's a convenience to have an actual Karaoke Bar on Galveston Island, and not have to wait until the weekend to sing your heart out! The bartenders were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about what is behind the bar, and are very expedient on service. I remember speaking with Christin, and she was lovely! The DJ, Eddie, was very knowledgeable of the Karaoke System, and made sure to take care of our group. I plan on returning to SoundBar for Karaoke and friendly service! read more

Left 2 stars because when Michaela, Stormy or Matt are working, this bar is great. Tonight me and my girlfriends came in to celebrate one of their birthdays and we were "greeted" by a girl I guess that works there who immediately says "can I see your IDs". Then we get to the bar and the bartender with short blonde hair looks at us like we are stupid and says "do y'all want drinks or what?" As she throws her hands up and tsks to herself. We said yeah but we need a minute. We debated on ordering shots or just leaving. After deciding we don't want to spend any of our money there, we leave. Don't go here. Bar tenders were rude. The only redeeming quality is the DJ who has the voice of an angel. This is not the place for large parties. They kicked us out of our tables because we were "taking up too much space" per the bartender. Customer service is poor. read more

We had this venue booked for our Christmas party. We had about 70 people and they let us have a private party that we catered. We had a blast! The staff was great, the owner was accommodating and everyone said this was our best party yet! read more

Had a great time ordering drinks and having a good time out of town until some bartender felt overwhelmed and told everyone that if they didn't make a straight line she would not serve them. Close to telling her that we were leaving she put on a sarcastic smile and said goodbye and waived because she couldlnt handle the pressure of bar tending on a Saturday night.
