I was in Gainesville having a tow package installed on my vehicle. After having already called around back home and being completely underwhelmed by equipment choices and the not so good customer service side of things at both the audio installer shops locally, I thought I'd take a shot and ask the Uhaul tech if there was a good audio install shop he'd recommend. He quickly replied Sound Depot and got me the phone number and address for them. Which I thought was not only nice of him but was above and beyond the norm these days. So I left Uhaul and headed over to meet the guys at SD. Logan greeted me at the door, asked me a few questions and promptly started demo-ing all of their gear. We talked about types of music I listened to and he downloaded some Jazz playlists because I said the best mixed and mastered music sonically is Jazz. We went through all of the speakers in the main display setup and a couple of the brands sounded pretty good but he could tell I wasn't hearing what I wanted yet. So Logan points me to the next display setup which was their more high end speakers. It was kinda hidden off to the side(Focal Speakers). Immediately I was hearing what I wanted. The natural reproduction of the music no boosted highs or lows and warm full spectrum mids. So he set me up a quote for the audio gear and install as well as the installation of sound dampening panels for all 4 doors. Next was the install side of things Omar was the tech who did the work. He was very professional, knowledgeable and dedicated to his work as was Logan. He asked all the important questions and proceeded to begin the install. Omar,Logan and all of the guys at SD are exceedingly friendly and knowledgeable. Do your self a favor, if you're a music junkie like me, looking to upgrade your auto sound system and you live close enough to make it feasible to travel to G'ville, go see the guys at Sound Depot. I know I'll be taking my girlfriend's car there as well *side-note* I've been in their shop a couple of times since and Jazz was playing on the their systems!! read more

Stay away from these guys! My car went in there via a sub from another car repair place to have a radio put in. I was quoted a couple hundred dollars me supplying the radio and the speakers being in the car. get a call from the install/walk up the bill rip off, let's just call him Chris, who informed me that they need to know what rear speakers I would like to use. When I informed them, the speakers were in the car, small 4-8 ohm BOSES, They then said those were not adequate, and they would not install . I also had existing speakers in the doors of which they said were defective, and we're not. They from that point removed the door panels, which was a very involved projects, and when reinstalling them in the car, comes back to me with loose door panels as well as working speakers that came from the car and as well a window regulator on the passenger side that no longer works After he got done quoting for his new price over the quote amount and I asked him how much it was he informed me $960 plus I said unacceptable. He then said that's what I told them and they've got it recorded . once he went to review the recording he didn't have it recorded instead they ended up putting a pair of $99 speakers in that they charged me $300 for My favorite line from this guy was I have people who owned $5000 cars that install $13,000 sound systems... right there's enough to tell you you're dealing with a thief . Once he realized he wasn't going to screw me I had the pleasure of dealing with his boss who intern ended up getting $600 of my money for a simple $150 installation and admitting their imaginary recording of what I supposedly told him was not working and they did not have it. When I picked up the car from the outfit that was repairing it, and who took it to these people the Car came back to me with the antenna, which was an electric antenna brand new, not functional, as well as not plugged in and as well issues that exist with the one speaker where the window regulator was screwed up after their dismantling of the door to put in speakers that I didn't need. Don't be stupid. These people are rip offs! read more

Took my vehicle here for an alarm system and a remote start. They put it in and mysteriously my hazards stopped working. Other than the dealership they was the only ones to touch my vehicle, and the hazards worked before the installation. What did they do?? Nothing they claimed they didn't touch the hazards and only used the blinkers. Long story short don't bring your vehicles here they will sabotage your vehicles and sell your parts, and will sit up there look you in your face and lie claiming they didn't do nothing to the problem so the can't be held liable. read more

TINT: Over $90 and and almost 2 hours to remove and replace one passenger side window tint. I was the only wait while they work appointment scheduled for the day so nobody was (suppose to be) ahead of my service. Also nothing was done to address dirt in window track so new window tint is now becoming as bad as old tint. They told me there was nothing they'd do for the dirty track. Perhaps a single window tint replacement isn't a big enough job to warrant better service? SPEAKERS: Only needed to replace speakers not system and should have chosen another store. They can't match factory power levels and wont tell you until after you are disappointed with the new output and then again with their excessive time to perform task. Hours over the expected labor quoted, though only charged for quoted. Perhaps I'd receive better service if I was spending more money to replace whole system (or a guy.) ENVIRNOMENTAL WASTE: If you want to know where all their scrap zip ties end up, take a stroll around back. The ground 40' in every direction is covered in this plastic litter, along with trimmed wire connectors. Terrible to see this is how they choose to "dispose" of install trash. If you have a small job or are conscience of the environment, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. read more

After my visit to Sound Depot and Performance of Gainesville, things will never be the same. They helped me replace my 19-year old OEM Nakamishi head unit with a blinged out KENWOOD 9905s. Let me just say, that's an upgrade! I had been relatively content with my old Nakamichi system (a $1200 upgrade 19 years ago), but my family surprised me an audio upgrade from SD&P. If you've seen or heard the 9905, you know that it offers a sexy HD touch screen and an impressive suite of features that have instantly modernized my trusty old Lexus LX. In addition to the new bling, the other game-changing story here is the sound. It is as if for the first time, the sounds that I hear have been separated into parts, with each individual component being generated from a unique source - It's actually quite amazing! The sound is beautiful turned up really loud and I hoping that would be the case. But it's also crystal clear at low volumes as well, which really surprised me, especially since they managed to pull this off while using my vintage, 19 year-old OEM speakers. I'm not sure that's the norm, but they were able to make it work. After experiencing this new system, I realize how muddled the sound from my old Nakamichi unit was compared to the new Kenwood. I seriously had no idea what I've been missing. Now that I've had this setup for awhile now, it's difficult to imagine not having it. Dewayne and Jon at Sound Depot took great care of me. They really know their business and they are passionate about what they do. They discussed and demonstrated alternatives in a variety of price ranges and showed me different approaches to what I was trying to accomplish. They have excellent products in stock, provided precise and professional installation and then expertly dialed everything in for the ultimate end-user experience. I guess is pays to have guys on staff who participate in SQ Competitions - they can really dial in the optimal sounds for each unique situation. I now understand why customers drive long distances to have work done at Sound Depot. I would give them more than five stars if I could. read more

I have been a customer for their PPF (Paint protection film) they installed on every vehicle i owned and Omar was my contact person every time, no problems with him he will take care of you all the time. The PPF on one of the vehicle i owed started to warp and peel and they offer a 5 year warranty for it, So i went to their shop last September 2021 and Danny Powel was the person helping me, so he went outside with me to look at the problem and told me they would fix it but told me that they dont have anybody available to fix it for now. He got my information including the copy of my receipt and my contact info. He would call me if the technician is available. After two weeks i did not get any call, so i called their office to follow up same reason no tech available and would call me that day to let me know. To make the story short, no call until now Its January 2022. So i guess they are not reliable for warranty claims. I hate to make this review but i just want their customer to know about their warranty claims. read more

I went to SD&P after reading their positive Google reviews for help with road noise interfering with my radio. Omar jumped in my car for a listen and as we drove around he basically said "Yeah, there's no problem with your car - you should just turn the volume up more. I could sell you something expensive to try to dampen the road noise, but it's not really worth it. Your stereo is fine, don't worry about it." I was a little chagrined in the end, but really happy that he was honest and didn't hard sell me at ALL. I chose Sound Depot because of the positive reputation that I saw on Yelp. I had blown out my speakers and needed new ones. While I'm not a snob for car accessories, I certainly appreciate good tunes, so wanted to make a good investment into my car. After initially arriving, I was scheduled to drop off my car the following day. While replacing the speakers, they also found that the locking mechanisms in my doors were not doing very well, so replaced those as well, as well as the AUX input (that I had bought elsewhere) to the car without extra charge. I think the thing that sticks out most to me is the pride that they put into their work. When coming to pick up the car, Danny sat in the car with me, explained how the speakers had to adjust and warm up to themselves, and showed me how well they sounded. Good place. I love my 2006 Honda Element, it is my escape pod, I love it and the stereo is important to me! I'm of the older more mature crowd, so I did not need big noise but def wanted to upgrade to Blue Tooth. I went in last year, spoke to Chris and Danny, both very knowledgeable courteous and did not try to sell me more than I needed. so they gave me a quote and an appointment. Danny even came and picked up my vehicle and brought it back!! He sat in with me and gave me a tutorial ( I also refer back to the manual frequently LOL) This year I realized it was time for new speakers, and once again they gave me a quote, and came in below that, got it done . showed me some more tricks with my system and treated my 10 year old vehicle with respect!! due to schedule conflicts, this I time I left it overnite with them!! They do a jam up job. today I took the Element in because one door speaker got knocked out. They fixed that one and secured the other as well. I was ready to pay but was told " under warranty"!! I was in the market for tinting my car windows when I contacted Sound Depot and Performance (SDP) via email after calling about four other automotive window-tinting companies. They all had good reviews on Google and their prices ranged from $160 to $200. However, I had very specific needs in terms of the tinting material and this usually jacked up the price closer to $200+. After reading about the 3M tinting that is used at SDP, I decided to email them. Omar was quick to respond to my email and answered all my questions in a professional manner. He told me exactly what model of tinting would be used and the cost before I even made the appointment (which I did via email). When I arrived, I was greeted by Danny and he was very friendly and re-confirmed everything that I told in the email. He took the keys and I had a friend pick me up. Later that day, I called and Danny stated the car was ready so I went there and picked up the car. Everything was the same as I left it (except the car was tinted exactly as I expected it). When I called on the telephone to get a ballpark figure on some speakers and a stereo to replace my factory equipment I was greeted by Jonathan Kelecy who was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He basically gave me three options from on the cheaper side to medium priced and expensive. I already had my system picked out before going to have it installed. When I dropped off my vehicle somehow Jonathan recognized me and greeted me with a smile and a friendly handshake. The equipment was installed in a few hours and everything looks and sounds great. I love these guys. Once you buy from them, you're a member of their family. We had a back-up camera, dash camera, and dash screen/radio installed in our '08 Toyota Highlander. It was a huge job, but these guys got it done in one day. The install was professional, as if it came from the Toyota factory that way, and everything works together perfectly. Plus, even after the purchase, their customer service is stellar. Whenever we have a question about how to use the system, we just swing by, and they sit with us and walk us through the steps as many times as we need to get it right. The other really nice aspect of working with these guys is that there is no hard sell. Seriously, freaking FANTASTIC team here. Received a new system as a gift and finally got around to taking the FJ in for its update. The guys had it ready the next morning for me even though I'd dropped it off last minute. Not only had they done a great install job, they had cleaned the kid zone disaster that was the interior, fixed the dash clock that three other companies swore would cost hundreds of dollars to replace and managed to turn off the compass light that has been blinking for two years. When I mentioned those items to Danny, the very nice guy who helped me out, he just shrugged and said that yeah, the guys usually like to make sure everything is perfect.
