I've been using other FFL dealers and heard the price here is better. I thought I wanted to share some feedback about my experience today because the situation was pretty frustrating and I think it mostly came down to communication. About a week ago I had a firearm shipped to your shop for transfer. Earlier today while I was working out in downtown Edmonds, I received a call from your store letting me know that my firearm had arrived and that I could come in anytime today to start the transfer process. Because I was excited to get the process going (10 day hold) and had been waiting for it to arrive, I actually stopped my workout immediately and drove over. It's about a 30-minute drive for me to get to your shop since I chose your store over others that are closer to me because your transfer pricing is better. However, when I arrived around 1:00 PM, the door was locked with a sign saying "At lunch, be back at 2 PM." What made this frustrating is that the call I received earlier was around 12:30 PM, and at no point during that call was it mentioned that the shop would be closed for an hour shortly after (I told them I'd see them soon today and and they told me "see you in a bit!"). If I had known that the store would be closed until 2:00 PM, I simply would have planned my trip differently or come later in the afternoon. Instead, I ended up driving 30 minutes only to sit in the parking lot for an hour (literally 58minutes) waiting for the store to reopen. Because of the distance, it doesn't make sense for me to drive back home and then return again. I completely understand that staff need lunch breaks, and that's not the issue. The frustration comes from being told I could come "anytime today" without being informed that the shop would actually be closed for a period of time shortly after the call. A simple mention during the call like, "You can come today, but we're stepping out for lunch from 1pm until 2 PM," would have avoided the entire situation and allowed me to plan accordingly. I chose to have the transfer done at your shop even though it's farther away because of the pricing, but in this case the extra time and inconvenience ended up outweighing the savings. I just wanted to share this feedback because better communication could prevent this kind of situation for future customers. My FFL guy retired and two friends recommended Sound Loan for FFL transfers. I communicated with them via email prior to let them know I had a rifle headed their way. They replied promptly and called me on the same day the piece was delivered to them. I went in to do the transfer papers and the WA State semi-auto rifle course certification. Don't even get me started on that. The gentleman helping me felt my pain. Since my state seems to think a 10 business day wait will stop criminals from using guns I had to leave my gun there until the background check clears. I think a large amount of their business is gun sales and FFL transfers. They charge a competitive rate for transfers plus tax if necessary. The whole thing was $40 out the door (gun stayed there) but I'm not sure how that was broken up. The gentleman manning the store was easy to talk to and made things as simple as possible. Cassiy and the young man working 3/20/21 where amazing to say the least. I brought about 18 firearms in for transfer 2 hours before closing on a busy Saturday and they gladly helped. No attitude or rude at all for such a work load on a Saturday, they didn't even bat an eye or complain simply got to work. Jeff and Cathy are fantastic, I found them because they have the cheapest transfer prices around, and now I've bought/sold 10+/- guns from or through them. One gun I recently bought off gunbroker, the guy (seller) needed to get me additional information. Instead of having me contact the seller, take down a huge list of info from him trying to make sure I got everything the state requires, he (Jeff) just took care of it for me. Dealt with a lot of Ffl's, but none were as willing to do the leg work for me previously. For any of the other people complaining about his prices, he takes a lot of guns in on consignment, the people that own the guns dictate the prices. I've bought two guns from Jeff, and they were screaming deals. o/u 12ga ticket price $250, sold it to me for $175, and a 16 ga single shot for $70 w/a ticket of $110. Great people, easy to work with. I've only been in twice. Found a pistol on Armslist they had and went in to check it out. It looked good so I put it on layaway. Also checked out a couple of other pistols and rifles. A couple of days later I decided I did not want the pistol I'd put on layaway, but did want a rifle I'd looked at. Went in to get the rifle and my layaway deposit back. Turns out that they do not refund a layaway deposit. So why am I giving them 5 stars? Because I believe them when they said the policy would have been explained to me. I think I was too excited about getting a gun I wanted (at that time) and did not pay enough attention when told about their layaway policy. But rather than just saying "sorry, that's policy", Jeff offered to apply more than 50% of the layaway deposit towards the rifle. He could have been a dick about it, but instead, he met me more than halfway. In addition to their customer service, they are very knowledgeable. Cathy was very helpful on my first visit. I'm a pretty newby shooter and did not know much about AR-15s. She showed me several features of the ones they had in stock. On my second visit, I worked with Devon. Again, knowledgable and patient. Found an AR-15 that better fit my needs than the one I looked at on the first visit and bought it. I am still searching out guns on different online sites (and locally as I buy local whenever practical), and will decidedly use Sound Loan as my FFL given their prices (most places charge $50) and their customer service. I'm also guessing the AR-15 I bought will not be the last gun I purchase there. Another reviewer complained about the prices. Well, some are good, some not so good, and as another person pointed out, some are on consignment so Jeff & crew have little flexibility. However, this is the first pawn shop I've been in where I've seen a few prices lower than I'd be able to buy the same thing new, not only online, but at one of the local gun shops Unless something changes on my next visit, Jeff & crew have earned a new repeat customer. read more

I have been hunting at pawnshops all my life. In Everett you are lucky if you get any customer service in a pawnshop. Sound Loan has a great honest staff that is always willing to work with you. Others in the area don't care about you. Sound Loan has the best FFL transfer fees in the state! I have yet to find anyone that is cheaper. Usually cheaper comes with a cost of good customer service. Not at Sound Loan you get a great deal, and great fast service. So if you are looking to buy a firearm online give Sound Loan a call and have it shipped to them. The storefront is freshly remodeled, which is nice to see in Everett's downtown area. Sound Loan has invested in Everett's future by helping clean up the downtown. If you are into fishing you can go in get rods, reels, tackle boxes, and other gear. Plus just ask Jeff for help and he will point you to the hot spots for fishing! Most guys won't give up their honey holes but Jeff just wants to help you catch fish. Last thing he has a great display of old neat things he has collected over the years. So even if you aren't looking to pawn something stop by to see his upper shelves of neat things he has collected over the years. It's like going to a museum. Every time I go in I see something new. The FFL transfer fees are the best in town at $15 for Rifles and $25 for Handguns. They will treat you fair and honest. read more

To the person who talk about the prices, it's likely it's the owner of the firearm who set those prices since he does sell by consignment. Currently there is a gun craze and people are willing to buy those firearms for way over price.. though I would never personally buy for those prices. Seems like they are some nice people but the prices are ridiculous. It seems like they are completely guessing with pricing. There's handguns that are 50-100 dollars more than brand new. Also, a good amount of tools from Harbor Freight that are very heavily used/worn out that are the same price as in store, that you could get even cheaper with one of their million coupons. I've made a couple purchases with no issue, firearm prices seem fair but gun cleaning kits & ammunition are a little overpriced..... in regards to the other reviews I'm a little confused about all the negativity, I know pawn shops can be a little on the cheap side when giving loans but that's to be expected, feelings get hurt & people are awfully sensitive in this liberal/snowflake world we live in & I believe people that come in for loans are expecting top dollar for their goods, when they don't get it their perception of the employee changes drastically. My experience in people who go into pawn shops for loans #1 are not your savory types #2 not good with their finances #3 looking for drug money. This is a sad but hard truth (obviously doesn't apply to all customers) - but I always try and remember when buying anything from these shops that these people have major overhead to run their business & as a business you need to bring money in to pay the bills. If you don't like the offered price then suck it up & leave.... just sayin. They have the best price around by far. Jeff is just one of those guys you WANT to give your business too, and I will continue to do so. He even shipped a pistol for me for free, I packed and paid the postage and he just sent it - whereas other places wanted a transfer of $50-70 in addition to shipping fees. If you're looking for an FFL transfers for you, look no further. These guys have some of the cheapest transfer rates that I've seen in a decade. They're fast, friendly, open to doing internet auction site transfers, and communication was excellent. I got a phone call within an hour of my UPS tracking number indicating the package had been delivered. They even have Saturday hours which many kitchen table FFLs do not. read more
