I got an inexpensive JVC single DIN unit and with an adapter kit they installed it in my double DIN dashboard. They even installed a very stock looking cubby underneath it. Brilliant, this car has nowhere to put stuff. Unfortunately because of the angle of my dashboard I couldn't read the display on the radio. I called them the next day and asked them if there was some kind of sunshade I could put over the radio because I thought the display was just being washed out by the sun. They called me back quickly and told me to come back and they put a different Alpine unit in it with a different kind of display. No hassle, no extra charge, another every clean install without a single bullet connector or pice of cut wire on the floor. These guys also dba as Sound Sensations. Will totally use them again if I have need.

Unfortunately, after seeing recent reviews, it looks like my experience wasn't an isolated incident. I brought my 7th-generation Honda Civic in to have all four speakers replaced and a new head unit installed. The owner recommended speakers from his shop and suggested a radio that would improve the overall sound, so I trusted his recommendations. When I dropped the car off, an entire day went by and only the rear speakers had been replaced. I was then told the speakers I had chosen were defective, so I had to wait another day before he even began working on the front speakers and radio. After spending around $1,000, I expected quality work. Less than six months later, the front speakers started cutting in and out. About a year later they stopped working completely. I also ended up chasing a parasitic battery drain that killed my battery, leading me to replace it before discovering the real issue. An automotive electrician later found corrosion in the speaker wiring and wiring leading to the doors, along with poor installation work. None of these problems existed before the shop worked on the car. Looking back, I should have brought it back under warranty, but after the experience I had, I wasn't confident I wanted anyone there touching my car again. What also left a bad impression was the constant complaining about working on my Civic. A 7th-generation Honda Civic is one of the most common and straightforward vehicles for aftermarket audio work. Hearing that he "didn't want to work on another Honda Civic again" after the job was finished was unprofessional and didn't inspire confidence. Sun & Sound just doesn't feel like the same shop it was when they were located in Worcester. Based on my experience, I won't be returning.

I came to JDK looking for a genuinely high-end, professionally integrated radar and laser system--not simply equipment added to the car. After a great deal of research and discussion with John, we ultimately went with the Escort REDLINE Ci 360c, including externally mounted front and rear radar receivers and a five-head laser-shifter configuration--three front and two rear. The installation is exceptional. What impressed me most was the attention to detail. The exterior components are remarkably discreet and integrated into the BMW in a way that looks intentional rather than aftermarket. Inside the vehicle, John positioned the Escort display immediately adjacent to the instrument cluster, where the information is easy to acquire without becoming a distraction. The control interface is accessible but neatly tucked away. That mattered enormously to me because the user interface was one of my highest priorities in selecting this system. This was not an inexpensive installation, and I did not expect it to be. When investing in equipment at this level, my priorities are quality, confidence, craftsmanship and knowing that the installation has been done correctly. JDK delivered on all four. I also appreciated John's willingness to discuss different systems and approaches with me rather than simply bolt in equipment and send me on my way. I did my homework, had strong opinions about what I ultimately wanted, and John worked with me to turn that decision into a very clean, professional installation. The finished product feels like it belongs in the BMW. That is exactly what I wanted. Five stars for JDK Auto Sound & Security.
