John, the owner was very nice but his pricing was way, way to high and abilities were lacking. All I asked him to do was hardwire an radar detector that had a manufacturer's hardwire kit. He quoted over $200 dollars. I also asked him to hardwire a dashcam that used USB for power. He wouldn't do it because is was manufactured outside the US, and had no US tech support. I finally bought $15 worth of Amazon parts and did the work myself. read more

Can't believe I haven't written my account for such amazing service. Had an automatic starter installed on my old car and another for my mom's. Other reviews will say the same- John who has been in the business since the mid 90's has established the foundation of this business on the attention to detail,. knowledge, experience and exemplary customer service. There are options for any budget, but you can be sure whatever electronic devices you chose, they will be top notch, and guaranteed. When he had installed my starter, not only did he take enough time with me to ensure that I knew how to use all of the features, what to do when you take the car in for service and safety tips, but he also noticed that my car's battery health wasn't where it should be and offered to replace it. I was hesitant because he was asking over $100 but the service and the guarantee offered on the battery if anything happened with it, and future maintenance was all covered- I couldn't really say no. He also provided quotes on other services like a stereo install i inquired about, and rain guards as well as an alarm. Before we were out the door, he had wrote up and printed out a detailed quote on each. I was impressed, not at the tactics and such but by how through he really is making sure you get exactly what you want within your needs/constraints. I only with his prices were a tad more competitive. - Its by all means worth the extra for the service alone, I am being scrupulous from the perspective of someone that needs a service, rather than just looking to soup up a toy car. After recently totaling my 2003 Chevy Trailblazer, I had purchased an 04 Monte Carlo. Wanting to upgrade my stereo to integrate iPod, I stopped by JDK on Grafton Street in Worcester to check out some options. My initial intention was to just buy one of those FM transmitters from Best Buy. But after talking to John at JDK Auto Sound my mind changed. I have never been big on car audio. I just want to have the iPod in my car, but John was able to show me all the options available for my car. JDK Auto Sound is a straight forward business. John wants the customer to be happy and have the customer understand all their options. After checking out all the options, and the latest equipment for my car, we settle on a Double Din JVC unit. The unit is perfect for what I need. iPod works great with this unit. Blue-tooth is available. John was able to order the unit and even took off some of the price since he didn't have it in stock that day... After a 3 day wait to get the unit from factory, we set the appointment. I left my car for the day. It was a Wednesday, and usually they close at 4pm, but John is very flexible and waited for me to get there around 4:30!!! He even took about half an hour to show me all the features the stereo has. JDK is a great business with great prices and even better customer service. Here are some specifics: * Creativity & Ergonomics: The radar detector has a remote control which I use frequently. I explained this to John and that I wanted to be able to reach it without leaning forward from my seat; a safety issue for me. John did a great job in selecting its placement (no leaning needed) and... and...on his own... he put himself in my place, so to speak, and figured how to place it such that I could use other physical features of the dashboard and the shift lever as reference points for easily and correctly locating the control button. * Uncompromising Quality: I researched online the Dash Cam and its installation so I thought I was pretty prepared to discuss it with John. Well, I got an education. John explained, in detail, how the wiring practices and products touted online were not the best practice and would lead to breaks in the wiring. He explained how he welds all his connections so that they make strong electrical and physical connections so that they last a long time. Update: This business contacted me directly by email. I was told that I should be "held responsible" for this review. I wonder how they owner would react to an unsatisfied customer... Installation of my Kenwood Apple Carplay deck, steering wheel control adapter and Kenwood backup camera cost me just under $800 at Best buy. The vast majority of reviews I post are 5-stars. If I don't see eye-to-eye with a business, my first instinct is not to slam them on Yelp. The owner of Jdk was so transparently trying to take advantage of his customers, I had to post this. The prices I give below are all verifiable. I had to send in pictures of my car and wait 4 days for a quote. I gave John my budget at the very beginning--he ended up quoting me for DOUBLE that amount. If he couldn't foresee this huge difference, he probably doesn't know a great deal about the work he's doing. He insisted that I purchase a Kenwood or Sony deck. He would not install a JVC that I suggested, citing it is an inferior product. Ironically, both are products of JVC-KENWOOD. He quoted me over $700 for a basic install, and $100 to maintain steering wheel button functionality. The same kenwood deck WITH BASIC INSTALL is $449. $250 CHEAPER THAN JOHN'S PRICE. BestBuy guarantees the product install as long as you own the car. I wanted a camera installed and John refused to install the highest-rated, best-selling backup cams on Amazon ($18-21) despite thousands of reviews citing the product's poor quality and his "inside knowledge". The ONLY CAMERA he offered me costs more-than $300!! I could replace the amazon camera 10 times and still come out ahead. I told him that the hardware was priced way above market value; he told me that the manufacturer sets his prices. read more
