Chicken salad wasn't great, I could tell it had been frozen prior to being applied to bread. Otherwise not bad.

Really good grilled-cheese sandwich and tomato soup. Lots of other interesting choices in the menu. Will return soon!

I think it was the busiest truck by Bushnell Park that day so that's saying something.

We were the only customers there! I had seen on-line that three food trucks would be present, but there were just two -The Gulla Grille (Brazilian) and Taste of Home (Puerto Rican). Aunties Pasta (Italian) wasn't there. The designers of Westside really need to get a lot of credit for the beautiful job they did in salvaging this forlorn corner of Hartford. The dozens of wood tables and benches were made from old recycled industrial spools, and they are really amazing. There are corn hole boards, beer pong table, Giant Jenga, Connect Four, a movie screen, a music stage, and a bar spread throughout the property so there's a ton of things to do there. I had a kebab plate from Gulla and my wife had a cheeseburger from Taste of Home. She was given one of those buzzing gizmos to tell her when her food was ready. I knew my lunch was ready when the guy flagged me down like he was hailing a cab. I love the concept of food truck courts and I suspect Westside is quite a bit busier in the evenings that it was lunch time on a holiday weekend Saturday, when we had the place to ourselves..

And let's talk about the mocktails because they deserve their moment: The Honey Pea Spritz and the Gastropalmer were chef's kiss. So refreshing and perfectly balanced you don't even miss the alcohol. I've got a hot water bottle, but nothing i've got'll take the place of you holdin me tight. I've got steam heat". (from the 1954 Broadway musical The Pajama Game) Steamed cheeseburgers seem to be a Connecticut thing, and Meriden, CT's Ted's Restaurant might be Ground Zero for the genre. It was established in 1959 and soon became a popular destination for Meriden's many factory workers who worked around the clock. Td's stayed open until 4 AM to accommodate them. Ted's doesn't fry their burgers in a pan or grill them on a grill. Nope - they steam them in a steel cabinet and serve them with a scoop of melted cheese and your choice of free toppings, like ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce tomato, chopped onions, pickles or even bacon. Their food truck is named "Steam Machine" and it was at Cheshire Craft Brewing today. In fact, it's there every Friday night and weekends. It can also be found at Hartford area attractions like Bushnell Park, the Xfinity Theatre, and at Pratt & Whitney Stadium for UConn Huskies football games. Our cheeseburgers were $8 each and they were great! I will defer to Yelper Keli R's epic description below: "Slathered high, drippy, messy, greasy with fresh vegies. It was a b*tch to eat and worth all the struggle". Yes, they sure were Keli.

Price is reasonable, the chicken was overcooked but the butter curry sauce was flavorful. The garlic naan was soft on the inside, crispy on the outside, and was lacking in garlic. The chips were fresh and the salsa was light and chunky. For a taco truck taco, it's pretty good especially given the location. I have higher expectations for butter chicken and garlic naan, but it was reasonably executed for the location. Not a food truck I would seek out, but it's a good option if they are set up in your area

The experience was much better because there was no line or wait. The person, who I assume is the owner, was friendly, and I enjoyed talking to him. He noted that they've made great strides with ticket times since my first visit. I ordered the Nihari Birria tacos. They were well executed. The consommé has a Nihari stew, which I hear is the national dish of Pakistan. The tacos had a nice crisp shell. The beef was tender. The consommé had a different vibe flavor-wise. It wasn't quite as rich as the best of the more traditional Mexican consommé spots. The garlic naan, chips and salsa were all very good. Both the food and overall experience were 4.25 Stars this time.
