Have eaten at dozens of Asian/ Chinese joints. Honestly, Wok Spot, a new little hole in the wall place in Avon CT knocks it outta the park. Here's the good news for us. We just bought a little cottage in the woods as a getaway place and we can walk to our new favorite place. Our first order was light but man was it good. The basic chicken with mixed vegetables was cooked to perfection and the veggies were fresh and crisp. The wonton soup was delicious: broth flavorful and "clean". Dumplings tasted great. We'll be back - over and over!

They have a broad menu of Hot and Spicy dishes (Fish with Pickled Mustard Greens, anyone?), Chef's Specials with white rice, twenty-one combination plates with a spring roll and pork fried rice, seven steamed Healthy Dishes, five soups including a sweet rice wine dumpling soup (one I haven't seen much of before), 7 fried rices including pineapple, various lo meins and mei funs, some stews, twenty-one lunch combos, nine Wok-Frys including Lotus Root and Celtuce (sort of a lettuce/asparagus love child), plus appetizers and cold dishes. Let's be real, if you can't find a minimum of five things here to love, you're a hurting puppy. We ordered hot and sour soup, wonton soup, Moo Shu Pork, and a Spicy Chicken Stir Fry. Our total was a tad under $50. Their Hot and Sour soup had a bit of a "creamier" texture and was lighter in color than the usual bronzed look of so many similar versions. I'm pretty sure I saw three different kinds of mushrooms in there, including wood ears, plus tofu cubes, pork strips, egg ribbons, and matchstick bamboo shoots, all swimming in an excellent spicy broth. It was excellent. The Moo Shu was served with four pancakes and plum sauce, so that is an adjustment from Wok Spot's earlier practice of not including the pancakes. The Moo Shu was excellent, with plenty of meat, vegetables, and sauce. My Spicy Chicken Stir fry was fantastic. It came with celery chunks, red pepper slices, snow peas, wood ear mushrooms, diced chili peppers, and chicken.....plenty of chicken. My container was loaded with food, much more than any human can eat at one seating, so plan on sharing or making it last for a few days. I portioned out one cup of the stir fry and a half cup of rice, and I kid you not, I probably have over two more days of similarly portioned meals in the fridge. Oh, and the spice level of the Spicy Chicken Stir Fry.? Well, it didn't disappoint one bit, because it had plenty of zip. We were very happy with our first visit to Wok Spot. They are a worthy successor to this strip mall's Asian restaurant tradition.

Oftentimes I find the dish at other restaurants to be overly heavy, sweet, or saucy, and I love Prai's version and think it reigns supreme. Balanced sweetness and acidity and simply well prepared. They have a yummy and creative drink menu as well. I have enjoyed getting takeout and thought both the ordering was smooth and the food traveled quite well. Overall I highly recommend Prai. My only less than enthusiastic comment concerns the fried wontons. They were room temperature, but they were flavorful. I ordered shrimp with the Tom Yum soup. How cool is it that shrimp is even an option? And it was perfectly tender. The soup had that classic sweet, sour and hot flavor. The Sala Noodles were very good. Wide noodles. Thin pieces of chicken. Carved grilled calamari. Snow peas. Sprouts. I could taste terrific char grill flavor, and that's a rare thing in this type of dish. The noodles and chicken had good flavor. Appetizers: Spring Rolls, Vegetable Dumplings, and Crab Rangoon. All three were tasty. The Crab Rangoon was some of the best we have had in Windsor. Dinner: Mango Curry with Duck Breast was a wonderful combination with just the right amount of spice. Crispy Chicken with Green in Love sauce with broccoli and bok choi. The kitchen accommodated my request to add eggplant and mushrooms. Yummy and very generous portions. Thai tea with light ice - so refreshing!
