Ask the Community - Source Academy and Early Learning Center

Are half days available? Or 1 or 2 days a week only?

Are drop ins okay? What would the rate be?

Yes, they take drop-ins. The pricing depends on the age of the child. Give them a call and they can quote you. My daughter goes there and I'm really happy with them. She's almost 8mos and has been there since 3mos.

Can you accommodate a child with special needs?

We are an inclusive school so as long as our staff are able to give the child the best care and create an environment that works for all the children, we will absolutely accommodate a child with special needs.

From day one, we were welcomed like family. The daycare is always clean and well cared for, and the teachers, directors, and administrative staff truly go above and beyond. Everyone knows us by name, greets us warmly, and is consistently helpful and supportive. What truly sets them apart is the communication and partnership with families. They always take the time to talk through any concerns and make sure we're all on the same page both at home and at school. The engagement they have with both the families and the students is beyond words. My son has learned and grown so much at Kiddie Academy. The teachers are all wonderful at guiding children through important (and sometimes challenging) developmental milestones with patience, care, and genuine expertise. It's clear how much they truly care about each child's growth and well-being. We are so grateful to be part of this community and recommend Kiddie Academy to everyone we know without hesitation. My son started around 2.5 years old and is now 4.5 years old. This school has been such a positive influence on his learning and development. We've had Miss Carla as the director for these 2 years and she's so caring and nurturing and you can really tell what a positive influence she has on both the school staff and the children. The staff helped potty train my son all the way to writing his name, reading, doing math, and they put extra effort into meeting his needs and ensuring he has the support he needs. The staff ALWAYS report any incidents no matter how small, and I have never felt like there's been an issue that I didn't know about. And any time we did run into issues (which were not often), his teachers and Miss Carla always prioritized an effective resolution in a timely manner. I have ALWAYS felt like my son is safe and in caring hands at this school. They have an app that I use to communicate with the teachers, they always keep me updated on my sons activities, nutrition, etc. My husband has been deployed multiple times which has been hard on my son, but the staff here always have been empathetic and understanding and supportive of my son during those hard times. Miss Carla treats all the children with unconditional love, and I'm very thankful for the positive influence she's had on our lives. She set the bar so high, I know when we move it's going to be really hard to find another school that will meet our expectations thanks to the high standard that she's set. My son LOVES school, he absolutely loves all of his teachers and all of the activities they provide for them. I HIGHLY recommend this school.

If you're one of the "favorites" then this school will be great for you.... But if not then I would…read morerecommend looking elsewhere. There are many dedicated teachers and staff at this school..... but overall the community is very "clique" and if you're not cool enough then you won't have the same experience as the "favorites".... Class sizes are huge and the teachers are overwhelmed. My sons classes last year both had 30+ kids..... The school building does not allow for that many students but they over pack the school to get more money. For example there is a lower grade wing and an upper grade wing but b/c of over crowding the 6th grade classes are split up with one being in the upper grades and one being next to kindergarten.... The SPED resource room is shared among 4-5 adults trying to simultaneously "teach" core subjects all at the same time with dividers in the room. The room is often more chaotic then the actual classroom. The other interventionists use pillows on the floor to pull kids for reading intervention. None of the specials(art/music/PE) teachers have a classroom. They travel to the classrooms on carts. There is no true self-contained classroom as they are trying to do some sort of full inclusion model.... so children with extreme disabilities are in the same room as their peers for the majority/entire school day. This is a disadvantage to the students who are trying desperately to learn but are constantly distracted by the outburst of special needs children. In order to pull off a full inclusion model the school would need to actually hire much more SPED staff to assist within the classroom. The way they currently operate is not safe for the students with adverse behaviors nor the typical peers within the classrooms..... It also often leaves the students with higher needs receiving less quality instruction and more "glorified babysitting" to just pass the time during the day...... The current SPED staff do not have an in house leader either... The split second, in the moment decisions are left to the teachers and staff b/c the SPED director is not in the state of Nevada. All in all when it came down to wanting to feel a sense of belonging and community, this school did not fulfill our family's needs. Really thought that the sports program would bring more to my kids lives but my sons didn't connect with the coach they way I had hoped. Was really hoping for a solid male role model for them but it didn't happen. My most recent issue with the school was that my older son has severe emotional disorders..... which is the ONLY reason I enrolled him at this school.... The promises to my son were not kept. They are not doing right by my child as promised and that is literally directly related to the "clique" situation and I'm not a favored parent anymore. He will be leaving the school as soon as I can figure ANYTHING else out.... like this weekend..... especially since the sports are expensive and he didn't make connections the way I had hoped. I'm disappointed b/c I trusted that this school truly had my family's best interest at heart..... but that is not the case. All in all, do your research before deciding on a school for your child(ren). I personally believe in charter over most CCSD schools, however it all depends on the staff and policies. I have definitely seen horrible charter schools and horrible public and private schools. https://nevadareportcard.nv.gov/di/ This website is a great source for information regarding academic ratings, students enrolled, safety, etc. https://online.nvdoe.org/#/VerifyLicense This is a great source to see whether or not a teacher holds a teaching license.

He has been kicked of numerous daycares and I was called constantly to come and pick him up. The first time I visited the facility I met with the Assistant Director Laura and provided our sons IEP and discussed our concerns & was looking to start him right away. They were able to accommodate us and upon meeting the Director Ms. Christine on his first day at drop off we were able to discuss more about our son with her and she provided us with many tips and things we can do to try to help with getting him acclimated to the facility. My son still struggles but the teachers including Ms. Geneva, Mr. Steven and the admin team have not given up on him and continue to provide the necessary accommodations for him. It's so nice knowing that they are truly observing my son and ensuring that he receives quality care and not just blowing him off because he can be difficult. They communicate with me and I do with them as well about new updates or things that are going on with his current care plan. I know that they want the best for him in that he will be able thrive when he starts kindergarten.
