Food- the bread was fresh and perfectly toasted. The French dip, Turkey and salami, clam chowder were all so delicious. Service- the service staff were all so friendly. They made recommendations and checked up on us. Ambiance- pretty chill and quiet, most of the customers order to go. So when you dine in, there are tables to choose from. It's ok if u don't want to drive far. However you wait a long time. The kids working there don't pay attention to the order. We asked for chicken to be added to the sandwich on top of the turkey. Waited a long time. And then of course my husbands sando had to turkey. Asked them to add what I paid for - rather then just add the meat we waited even longer for it to be remade apparently. September 12th, 2002 @ 6:40 pm. I'm having a hard time remembering a worse experience getting a sandwich. Completely unwelcoming environment and employees. First, why is your store 40 degrees when it's only 72 outside? I can only assume it's the same reason every single chair in the place is stacked up and all the tables are pushed up against the wall during open hours. Obviously, you just don't want people to spend money there. And speaking of money, what makes you think your sub-par 6 inch sandwich with 1 oz. of meat, 2 slices of cheese, and a 6 oz. cup of reheated soup from a bag is worth $20? But I digress... I placed my order for a French dip and the Latina girl told me it would be 15 minutes. 15 minutes for a pizza? Sure. For a fresh prepared meal at a restaurant ok. But for a 6 inch fast food sandwich with literally 2 toppings and a cup of soup? I could have had that made in 2-3 minutes flat... Especially considering I was the ONLY customer there. And true to form, it took 15 minutes. She didn't bother to ask if I wanted my food there or to go. So, I guess they just assumed I was getting it to go because they bagged it up and didn't even bother to bring it to the table where I was sitting. Instead they called for me like I was a dog. So I asked, "are we not allowed to eat here?". That's when the white girl responded with attitude like I had just insulted her mother and said, "I mean, I GUESS you can eat here". You GUESS??? No, this isn't a quiz show, it's a simple yes or no question. You either have a policy or you don't. And if you do have a policy, it should be posted on the front door. And if you don't know if you have a policy, then you're too stupid to be employable. I then look at both girls like they'd lost their damn minds and the Latina girl says "you can eat here", as if she was doing me some sort of favor. At that point I was too furious to even bother so I left. I later realized that they were closing in a few minutes. Yet not once did anyone mention that. Had they simply said, "just so you know we're closing at 7:00 would you mind taking your order to go?", I gladly would have. But they didn't because clearly they have no home training, work training, communication skills, manners, or the common sense God gave a hamster. But perhaps the most absurd part is the nerve you have to issue receipts with a "TIP" line when none of these people even deserve to have a job. No longer a problem since I'll never be back. But if you're the manager of this place, you better take a long hard look at the caliber of people you're hiring and the quality of the customer service training you're providing them with. We went to Sourdough & Co today for lunch. We'd never been before. When we arrived we were the only ones there. Within minutes there were about 10 people in line behind us. But I'd already headed to the back where the order line generally is so I had to backtrack to the front of the store. I hurriedly ordered a turkey sandwich. Q: 4", 6" or 8"? Me: ummm.... 6" Q: Bread? Me: What are the options? A: Rye, Honey Wheat , or sourdough. Me: Honey wheat Q: with? Me: Lettuce, mayo & pickles This + a beverage was over $18. But that's not the issue. When my order came out it was on sliced bread, not a wheat roll like, say, Subway would have. When I was offered different sizes I figured that applied to the size/Length of the roll. Nope. After several attempts at understanding why I was given sliced bread & not a roll I was told the numbers are referring to the amount of meat in the sandwich. Nowhere is this made clear; not on the menu wall & not in their communication to a customer who's never been there before. Oh, a pickles are 25¢ Each. This was my second time that me and my family purchased sandwiches from this location. The first time the sandwiches were good, but today was another story. We bought 4 sandwiches, a cool $74.10. The sandwiches were swimming in mayo and mustard. Very soupy and sloppy. This was about 1 hour before closing so maybe the 4 sandwich order was overwhelming for the employee who was obviously tired and was just throwing the sandwiches together. This is truly misleading and unethical, using all $9.99 cost with a picture above that price costing $15.99 because the undisclosed price is a ridiculous 4" baby snack. The true picture cost of $15.99 ($16.00) is for a short 8 " size. So if you want to do business with non-American capitalist trying to lure us in with false hope prices for pictures of food that cost double the price shown then play their unethical game. read more

This is my first time going to this establishment. The employees were very nice and informative in regards to what they like. What a lot of people order. They knew what ingredients were in the sandwiches. I was questioning the soup. They gave me samples of the soup, which both were delicious they had an assortment of amazing lemonades I wound up getting The pomegranate mint lemonade, which was amazing. I got the Peruvian steak sandwich, which was absolutely delicious. The steak was thinly sliced. It was tender. It was hot. The vegetables on it were fresh and presented very well. The potato roll was a little dark, but it was still very soft and delicious. Whatever sauce they put on. It was amazing. It was one of the best steak sandwiches I've had in a long time. I also ordered the citrus goat cheese, summer salad. It was everything it was fresh. It had crunch. It was savory. It was huge one of the best salads I've had in a long time. The only thing is the chicken in the salad was cold and kind of clump together I wish the chicken was warm. It would've given a more fresh vibe overall, I really love this place and I will be going back to try other things on the menu. The staff again was very friendly very nice. I order from this place at least once a week and have never had an issue before. However, today's experience might have made me reconsider giving them my business again. I ordered a bowl of soup and a salad and when I went to pick up my order, I opened the bag to check if everything was correct. One of the girls behind the counter rudely told me to take my items and leave. I asked if the soup was a cup or a bowl because it looked smaller than the bowls I have ordered previously. The same girl rudely replied that it was a bowl. I wasn't completely satisfied with the response, so I showed my husband in the car. He also thought it was a cup and not a bowl. So, I went back in and tried to talk to another employee about it. Unfortunately, the same rude girl interrupted us, grabbed my soup from my hands, and walked off. I asked her not to take my stuff and just show me two empty containers to compare sizes. However, before I could finish my request, she had already shown me the difference between the cup and bowl containers, which was not much, if you ask me. I left feeling chastised for asking a valid question. Before you start lecturing me about prices, sizes, or employee issues, please note that I have worked in the service industry before. I have been to Sourdough's all over the Sacramento area and never had a bad experience. This was my first time at this location and I will NEVER be back. The staff were rude, and arguing with the manager, and it took ~15 minutes for 2 sandwiches when we were the only customers inside. The manager was eating some kind of meat straight from the container right next to where food was being made. The manager left for 5 minutes and when she returned she had to ask the staff why they weren't making our sandwiches. To top it off, our hot sandwiches were somewhat warm. The cholula chicken sandwich was fine, but our pesto turkey and pepper jack sandwich came with plain turkey and no cheese. They also wrapped them to go, and the manager had to remind them it was for here and so they just put it in a tray. We were so frustrated and grossed out that we didn't even ask them to remake it. Where to go on a cold winter day? HERE! They have a variety of soups and sandwiches. Today, they had about 4-5 different varieties of soup. I chose the clam chowder in a bread bowl. Sent hubby to get a sourdough just now, turkey and Swiss cheese sandwich heated with everything. Sandwich came with a tiny bit of turkey, barely could see the cheese, lettuce on its way out, no mayo, no mustard, no salt no pepper. Worst sandwich ever. Not even wasting the time to go back, will never go again. My kid ordered the French Dip not tasted yet but the dip leaked over the whole bag. So sad. Paid 32.59 bucks total. This location is in the same parking lot as the mall, but not in the mall. I went with the 4 inch turkey, on a sourdough roll. The bread tasted fresh, with a slightly crisp exterior, and soft and chewy interior. Good bread. Meat, cheese, and additions were all fresh and service was friendly. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here again. I would definitely not pass by a Jersey Mike's to eat here, but the sandwich was overall good. I don't generally get my sandwich on a sourdough roll, prefer soft white, but if I did this would be the place to go. Much better than overly dense Acme sourdough rolls. read more
