Placed an order online through their app, pickup ETA quoted for 6:05. Walked in 6:08, the lady at the counter said it's not ready. Asked when it will be ready and she responded "I don't know". Asked again, because I thought she was joking, even suggesting "5, 10 minutes more? Since the app says it would be ready 6:05". Nope, same answer: "I don't know". Guess that's the customer service you can expect here. Eventually, about 10 minutes later, my name was called and the order came out and was (surprisingly) accurate. Despite the food being good, I would expect some sort of answer when the food would be ready instead of telling me how much you hate your job. First time stopping by Dave's Hot Chicken, so let's talk about it! I ordered the mild chicken tenders, while my husband went with the mild sliders. And of course, we had to add the Mac & Cheese on the side! Starting off with the atmosphere--the vibe is definitely there! The music, graffiti-covered walls, and fun atmosphere make it a really cool spot to grab a bite. The service was friendly, although it could be because we ordered through a kiosk. Even so, our food came out quickly, and the staff was super friendly. They even came by our table to make sure we were doing okay, which I appreciated! Now, let's talk about the food! The chicken was really good and had great flavor, but I personally would have liked it to be a little crispier with more of a crunch. I also think I should have gone with a medium or higher heat because the mild had absolutely no heat to it. So if you don't like spicy food, the mild is definitely the way to go! The fries were really good and seasoned nicely. The one thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the Mac & Cheese. It kind of stuck together and I felt like it could have used a little more flavor. The medium is perfect for a kick and the hot burned my mouth to the point if I kept eating it I could not taste it lol I love the heat so it truly surprised me how spicy it was. Let's start with the parking, Dave's shares a very busy parking lot with multiple other busy businesses in this area. Parking can be hard to find, but doable. The restaurant itself was fairly busy when I visited on a Saturday afternoon. I've been wanting to try Dave's since it opened a few months ago. This was my fist experience. I ordered via the app, which said my food would be ready in 10 minutes. This was not the case. It ended up being more like 30 minutes. I don't know if they were short staffed on this day or if that was the normal staffing but it appeared they needed more help. I came here to try this new restaurant out on a Sunday at 5pm and the place was packed! I have never been to a Dave's Hot Chicken before. I accidently stood in a line against the wall thinking it was the food line to order but it was people waiting for their food order leaning against the walls. Thankfully, someone noticed us in the wrong line and redirected us. I ordered the 10 piece chicken nuggets with fries and a side of ranch. It came with Dave's sauce packet which was a delicious dipping sauce that seemed similar to in n out's sauce. I had low expectations for the French fries but they had a special salt seasoning on it that made it taste better than just bland fries so that was a nice surprise! It tasted like Lawreys salt seasoning. The ranch sauce was an extra $1.49 per added sauce. I didn't realize the Dave's sauce packet came with the meal, I probably wouldn't have ordered the ranch side. They accidently gave me a spicy ranch too which was spicy! The chicken nuggets had flakey crispies for the breading that made them crunchy and delicious on the outside and juicy on the inside! They are pretty plain with no spice but the dipping sauces make them even better! My boyfriend ordered the single tender extra hot and his mouth was burning. When I looked up at him, I could see the burn from the spice was having an effect on him. He said he was glad he didn't get the hottest spice flavor! The fries were crispy too and the seasoning salt on them gave them some umph. I was surprised by the drink selection of frozen slushy drinks, fountain drinks including cherry coke, a couple options of iced tea and milkshakes! I read the reviews about the ambiance being loud and it's true. The music was a mix of 70's and 80's music. The walls are spray painted which was a really cool artsy and unique design with tributes to vacaville. The floor is cement so I noticed there wasn't anything in the establishment to absorb sound. There is outdoor seating through the back door where you can escape the noise level, but if you want something more quiet, you might want to get it to go to avoid the noise. We sat at a two person table and everytime I looked around while we ate our food, there were groups of high schoolers with their friends.
