We have come here twice so far since it opened ( once as a couple and second time we brought our four kids) and both times food and service has been great! I've been wanting to try Dave's and was so excited to see cauliflower bites on the menu Wow!! One of the worst foods I have ever eaten. Overcooked cauliflower pieces were pretty much disintegrated. The extra crispy flavorless batter was a mouth full of grease. I spit it out. I tried absorbing oil with napkins (went through 6 napkins for 10 bites). And each bite was just as gross. Tried with the sauce. Still gross as the sauce is bland. The pickles were cold and crisp so unfortunately they were the best thing about my order Fries were just ok. Everything was perfectly crisp and juicy. All the sauces were great and paired well with the food. Mac n cheese wasn't bad at all which surprised me. I got medium and hot heat. The medium is perfect for a kick and the hot burned my mouth to the point if I kept eating it I could not taste it lol I love the heat so it truly surprised me how spicy it was. I still liked it but if you want to enjoy the flavor of the chicken I would stay under medium heat. Drunk (strawberries n cream) was very refreshing. I came here to try this new restaurant out on a Sunday at 5pm and the place was packed! I have never been to a Dave's Hot Chicken before. I accidently stood in a line against the wall thinking it was the food line to order but it was people waiting for their food order leaning against the walls. Thankfully, someone noticed us in the wrong line and redirected us. I ordered the 10 piece chicken nuggets with fries and a side of ranch. It came with Dave's sauce packet which was a delicious dipping sauce that seemed similar to in n out's sauce. I had low expectations for the French fries but they had a special salt seasoning on it that made it taste better than just bland fries so that was a nice surprise! It tasted like Lawreys salt seasoning. The ranch sauce was an extra $1.49 per added sauce. I didn't realize the Dave's sauce packet came with the meal, I probably wouldn't have ordered the ranch side. They accidently gave me a spicy ranch too which was spicy! The chicken nuggets had flakey crispies for the breading that made them crunchy and delicious on the outside and juicy on the inside! They are pretty plain with no spice but the dipping sauces make them even better! My boyfriend ordered the single tender extra hot and his mouth was burning. When I looked up at him, I could see the burn from the spice was having an effect on him. He said he was glad he didn't get the hottest spice flavor! The fries were crispy too and the seasoning salt on them gave them some umph. I was surprised by the drink selection of frozen slushy drinks, fountain drinks including cherry coke, a couple options of iced tea and milkshakes! I read the reviews about the ambiance being loud and it's true. The music was a mix of 70's and 80's music. The walls are spray painted which was a really cool artsy and unique design with tributes to vacaville. The floor is cement so I noticed there wasn't anything in the establishment to absorb sound. There is outdoor seating through the back door where you can escape the noise level, but if you want something more quiet, you might want to get it to go to avoid the noise. We sat at a two person table and everytime I looked around while we ate our food, there were groups of high schoolers with their friends. I love Dave's. I think the chicken is good. Buns and slaw and all are good. I do come here a lot BUT ONLY off peak times. Friday through Sunday night don't even bother. Service takes forever. Food ends up cold. Especially if you're taking it to go. Lunch time on most days also a wait. Management really needs to invest in a faster more efficient way to process orders up front and back of the house. read more

This is just not a good restaurant. Light mild, mild, and medium all had the same non-existent heat level. The food was cold, the milkshake was room temp and nothing had flavor. Angry chickz would never. I did provide feedback directly on the website as directed by Brett's response and I never heard back. i've been seeing lots of people online saying how spicy dave's hot chicken is & i've been so eager to try it because i love spicy food! when ordering i asked if i was able to get the 2 sliders w/fries meal ($14) but sub the chicken w/ the mozzarella & they said no that i could only order 2 separate mozzarella slider meals ($10 each) which i didn't understand but i didn't question it. i ordered an extra hot slider (the 2nd spiciest option) & my boyfriend ordered mild. i asked if we could have sauce & the woman taking our order told us that sauce would be offered to us when it's ready so we sat down to wait. the wait was around 10 minutes. when our order was ready it was packaged for to-go although, she never asked if we wanted our food to-go. this honestly wasn't a big deal to me but i asked for ranch & a different woman than the one who took our order told me it would be almost a $2 charge so i said never mind & at that point i didn't want to dine in because i was slightly annoyed that wasn't communicated when i asked previously. i start eating my meal in the car & it's not spicy AT ALL. we thought maybe they accidentally swapped our orders so i tried my boyfriend's slider which had more kick than mine but still not spicy. the fries were okay, the dave's sauce was bland, the pickles were a bit salty & drink's weren't included in the meal cost. it was super disappointing, underwhelmingly spicy & felt like a waste of money. i ended up adding hot sauce to my slider once i got home. in my opinion it is not worth coming back. read more
