It's been a while since I been here, came back and it's just as great as before if not better. Very busy wait I recommend ordering ahead or calling ahead if possible to save the wait. As I walked in to check this place out. I was like ok they have a lot of in door seating and a small bar at the counter but not sure if they even use the bar area. Looks like some outdoor seating as well. There was no line I was the only one buying a sandwich but never got greeted properly as I seen two girls towards the back by the kitchen area, so it was kind of disappointed specially because there was nobody in there, and you would think they would want my business. I did happen to see a sandwich I wanted to try. So I got some kind of chicken sandwich. They do serve hot and cold sandwiches so that was a great option for me since that day it was cold out. They have chips, and cold drinks and beer to if that is something you want to drink. The chicken sandwich was very good I would definitely try it again or even something else. I purchased the sandwich and a bag of chips. It was a little expensive for my taste which came out to I think like $20. So if you are looking to get a sandwich make sure you're good at paying that price. Walked in to buy a sandwich immediately got a weird stench from the place. There was no customers at lunchtime and then I asked to use the restroom after deciding not to buy a sandwich and was told I had to purchase something and be a customer in order to use the restroom. This is a place I consider a hidden gem in Vacaville. Locally owned and amazing sandwiches. I like how I can call ahead so if I'm on the go, my sandwich will be ready for me when I get there. The ingredients always taste fresh and there is a lot of variety and options of what you can get on your sandwich. They also have a great selection of grab and go veggie trays, fruit, and other sides. Employees are always friendly and it's a very laid-back environment. I am giving a 3 star review because prior to the delivery, one employee called to let us know that they didn't have one ingredient that was listed in the sandwich. Above and beyond customer service is rare these days. One side dish that came with my sandwich was deviled egg; it was great. The ingredients in the sandwiches were fresh and in sufficient quantity. What was lacking was the quality of the bread in both my sandwich and my daughter's. It took the pleasure out of eating. Came in - wasn't greeted- not one time was I acknowledged by the man working behind the counter- I stood at the counter for 5 minutes- until the man finally asked me what I would like to order- mind you it wasn't busy at all there were two other customers sitting down - waiting on there order- I asked him if they had those devil eggs - and if so were are they located - he said idk whatever is in there- um okay where? So I kept looking around I found the macaroni salad- under neath was the devil eggs - at least five of them - I had already paid for my sandwich and salad ( tiny two three bite macaroni salad) so I looked up at the board & seen the price for a devil egg $3.69 so I had counted out the exact cash- & told him here is the money for the devil egg - I found them I said there is a lot in there - basically I was being sarcastic- I even gave him a tip and put in there wooden box- even though when customer service is not good - I'll still leave a tip - because I'm just a good person like that- after getting my small roast beef sandwich- that was made soo poorly and small macaroni salad and devil egg- I've decided never to go back there and give them my money again- no customer service- over priced sandwiches & salad- than come to find out I was over charged for my devil egg- wow! read more

This place appears it's under new management. The food is absolutely horrible. My son got food poisoning. We asked for 1/2 a sandwich and we were charged for a whole sandwich and they forgot to put the meat. The staff is dirty, rude and they appear to be on cocaine or some type of meth. It's not the same as it was before the pandemic. They're racist POS! There was no one there when we got there. It took them more than 30 minutes to make one sandwich. It was tiny and gross. Stopped in for a to-go sandwich, ended up staying for a beer and making some new acquaintances! The deli is comfortable and inviting. The owner was really friendly and helpful and the sandwich was absolutely perfect; delicious, perfect size, well crafted and balanced, and served with a smile. They have a great menu of sandwiches and you can of course choose your own adventure. Lots of sides, chips, candy, refreshments, and beer to choose from (local and mainstream beers available). Yiiiikes. We travel through this area often. I try to give a spot at least 3 tries before leaving a review. This visit, we waited 28 minutes for a $7 pbj, a $7 grilled cheese sandwich, and a $14 vegetarian sandwich. The prices on the board are apparently not current. They also charged an extra fee for takeout, which likely would have been less aggravating if we weren't stuck there for half an hour waiting for 3 simple and horribly overpriced kids sandwiches. We went in knowing they were overpriced, but wanted to support small business. For all three visits, we had an insane wait time, the wrong order once, and inconsistent pricing. I think the business' rude and unprofessional replies to all negative experiences says a lot, too. Go literally anywhere else. read more

I've been going to Diggers Deli for years. The food is very good quality and the sandwiches are delicious. The sandwiches may seem a bit pricier than other places but you can tell that they use quality ingredients so it makes sense.. you get what you pay for. The employees and service are nice/good but sometimes it feels like you, as the customer, are a bit of an inconvenience. Not sure if that's just when they're busy or not but it leaves a little room for improvement. The ambiance is nice, it's always clean in the restaurant with plenty of space for seating indoor and there are some seats outside as well. The main reason I'm giving 3 stars is because I often call in orders and make minor adjustments such as "no tomato, add pepperoncinis" and it is very common for them to still add tomato. I know it may not seem like a big deal but sometimes the tomatoes are runny and get all over the sandwich, which really affects the meal. It just feels like the customizations are not really paid attention to and with the higher price that I'm paying, it can really be a let down when it's not done the way I asked for it. Overall though, really like this place and will continue to visit. read more

The setting was like a farm style ambiance which is very Vacaville. As for the food, sauces and cheese are considered add ons to the sandwiches which are $1 in comparison to other sandwich shops which is already included. The sandwiches were very basic and average. The other staff would stop to talk to the others while making a sandwich. The only one who seemed to pick up the pace was a young lady. Not even at a sit down restaurant does it take this long to get your food. The food was 3 stars but due to the pace, I have to average it out here. If you order sandwiches to go and have to go next door to Serena & Lili to browse the entire store, something isn't right. After this experience, I read through some of the reviews and couldn't help but notice the business owner is rude to people's criticism. In all my years of being an elite yelper, I've never seen that before. They must be doing well if an owner does that. Diggers Deli is ICONIC . If you are from Vacaville you know this. I used to go to Diggers back when Paul and Sharon owned it. It's exchanged hands a few times since then. This was my first time here with current owners. The revamp they did looks nice however, I wish they would have stayed true to what an authentic deli should look like. We decided to pick up a few sandwiches for dinner. This being said, I was so disappointed with what we took home. To the owners, you have a wonderful opportunity to make this a great place. Not an average place as you have done. There was nothing special about either sandwich we bought. Meat and cheese, average. Quality veggies nope. My sourdough roll was dry and hard. My husband's sandwich literally had 4 pieces of salami on it. Completely unacceptable. Please think outside of the box. Do some research. Find better quality meats and cheeses. We are in the Mecca of great food. In between SF and Sac. Near Napa. Near all of these local farms. I know you can get better. I know you can do better. 15$ for a sandwich is a good price for a great quality sandwich. Not for what I took home tonight. Please rethink your strategy. I read you always wanted to own a deli. If that is true, make it a true deli. If not you are basically another Subway with a different name. Nothing special. Vacaville needs a few special places. Our food options Suck.
