Came here with my daughter to get turkey sandwiches. The bread was delicious and I loved that they offered a 4" sandwich option. The perfect size portion for each of us. At first, I was disappointed with the service, because our server spoke way too quickly, and I had to ask her to repeat herself multiple times. So I would've dinged them by one star for that reason. But when the line slowed down and we were eating, she personally came and checked on us to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. So I gave them five stars after all. I'd heard good things, so I took the drive over to Sourdough & Co. The lunch rush had ended a few hours earlier, so I walked in and was greeted by a few friendly shouts of "Welcome!". The young gal at the register was sweet and helped me find exactly what I wanted on the ample menu. (Lots of good stuff to put on a bunch of yummy-looking sandwiches.) I ordered, and tossed in a few personalized requests as I noticed the sandwich makers leaning in to get a jump on the construction. "Want a pickle with that?", she asked. I did. The sandwich came quickly. It was pretty. Tightly wrapped, on a plate - along with my pickle. I was pleasantly surprised to find it slightly warm to the touch. Not the sandwich... just the bread. A deliciously soft and flavorful sourdough with a perfectly crisp crust to give the sandwich some added character. It didn't take long to get through the meal. But I never wanted it to end. It was nice that they greeted me when I came in and the gal who took my order brought my order to my table vs calling out my name. Another gal came to ask if I wanted soup samples and another young man came by to ask how I liked the sandwich. I was pretty excited when I found out that Sourdough & Co was opening a location in Santa Cruz. I have had their sandwiches on road and work trips and always really enjoyed them. I ordered online though their website which was easy and quick! Tried the Garlic Pesto Turkey sandwich which was delicious. The bread is fresh and I opted to order it warm, which I really enjoyed! Had the tuna fish sandwich today and it was excellent. Got it cold, which was fine but maybe next time I'll have them toast. The roll which might be even better. Quantity of tuna was just right, like, dripping out the sides. Perfect I was surprised having ordered the clam chowder meal that it might, like one other time come with two slices of sourdough bread and a spoon. Last time I didn't even get the spoon and this time there was no bread. I was told that the bread doesn't come with a meal! Does that make make sense? When you order a meal of something you expect more food not less. Putting in two little slices of sourdough is not gonna make the business go bust. Come on guys. It's a bowl of soup. And it's a meal. I moved over to the west side recently and was excited to try this place. The delivery was quick and guy was friendly. Sandwich was a disappointment though. I ordered the french dip. Compared to the picture it had about 1/3 of the meat and the roll was so small. It looked like a kids size. It had staleness about it. If the guy hadn't delivered it so quickly I would've thought it must've been sitting out for a while before it was sent. Also the au jus was so salty and canned tasting. Sad. I ended up tossing it all. The flat bread pizza was arrright. Meh. I wouldn't order it again. They have some great reviews so maybe I ordered on an off day, but for my first time eating there the food was def not worth the money. read more

I ordered two items, a pizza & a sandwich. The food took over 30 minutes to come while I was also on a time crunch. The line took almost forever, and once we ordered- it was mistaken for a sit-down order instead of to go. The sandwich I ordered was incorrectly cooked with the wrong ingredients and so was the pizza. Our sandwich was remade but we didnt have any time to redo the pizza. Overall the food was pretty good, but not the best for the price. As we were leaving, a worker apologized and once I stated what was incorrectly done, the cashier (source of the problems) started to complain loudly to us saying there was nothing to be done. read more

We heard this place was new, so went to go check it out. We decided to eat in the store, which I think was our fatal mistake. For a good chunk of time, we were the only two people in the store, and waited well over 30 minutes for any part of our food to be ready. They must prioritize delivery orders, because there many delivery drivers coming and going. It seems that other people knew better than to come into the store. Maybe 5 minutes after our food was delivered, the employees began mopping the floor with a very strong chemical smelling solution. As this task is usually reserved for closing time, we asked their hours to be sure. And sure enough, we still had an hour and a half before closing. We did our best to rush out, and in the process asked the staff for a box for our leftovers. They looked extremely confused and offered a plastic bag. We asked again, and they said they did not have boxes (even though we could clearly see them) and instead took our half eaten food back into the prep area to wrap it in paper. I'm pretty sure this is a health code violation. I know this review is lengthy and kind of negative, but I want to make it extremely clear I do not fault the employees AT ALL for anything. This is 100% the responsibility of whoever is the owner or manager of this store for not providing proper support to their employees. I hope they improve, and when they do I will be excited to return and try again. read more

Giving one star for a variety of reasons. I used DoorDash to order my food, fine no problem right? I ordered the French dip and my boyfriend ordered the tuna sandwich. We also ordered a side of bacon mac and cheese with some chips and a drink. I was so excited to try this place but you can understand my extreme disappointment when my French "DIP" sandwich had no Au Jus to "DIP" my sandwich!!??? So I essentially had a dry sandwich missing 50% of its supposed ingredients/ purpose. I was so bummed out I lost my appetite. I also want to mention that my food was cold.... Which could have been my dashers fault, however, upon opening the Mac an cheese to eat it, it was also cold. Like barely warmed up cold. That should have a least held some remnants of a proper warming temperature right?? Nope. Lastly, I ordered a fountain soda but was delivered a can instead which was falsely advertised online. The only good thing about the order was the bread itself, so two stars for that. read more

Pros - Sourdough tastes very good! Veggie freebies on a sandwich is always nice. Lots of menu options and lots of great sides, salads, and flatbread. Cons - Sandwiches are, honestly, super small. Very skinny & not too much bulk to them. More like a Ficelle than a true sandwich. The bread never seems toasted or even warm when I order it "HOT." For someone who already isn't crazy about sourdough - a dry, cold, sour bread is honestly the very last vessel I would want for my meal. I'm gonna take a break from this place and try it again in a few weeks or months. Give them some time to improve. I genuinely want to like this place and experience it at its full potential. Honestly it was just a regular sandwich but the price kind of shocked me. $18!!! No sides or drink, just the sandwich, and I felt a bit like Pru on the Great British Bake show.
