Three stars. I ordered a takeout 12-inch sourdough meat lovers pizza and a veggie pizza, and honestly, I was disappointed given the price. The meat lovers pizza had a very low quantity and quality of pepperoni and sausage, which was a huge letdown for a $20+ pizza. Coming from New Jersey, I have high standards for pizza and this just didn't live up to the hype. While the veggie pizza tasted great, paying extra for banana peppers pushed the bill way too high. Spending nearly $50 for two small 12-inch pizzas is simply not worth the money. read more

Well I have a hard time believing this pizza had a sourdough crust. It didnt taste like sourdough and I had a huge stomach ache after eating it. I felt fine before eating and I am sensitive to American grained flour - for whatever reason - so it seems like it was just regular flour used to make yhe dough OR they are buying pre-made dough and using that. This is on the edge of Lynchburg, and the shopping center in front of a residential development did not have anything else open when I stopped in; this place is notable for being open on Sundays. The focus here is on bread; there aren't really any salads or appetizers and even the option to order a loaf of bread was deemed out of stock when I dropped in. Thus, I split myself between a classic margherita pizza and a more adventurous spinach alfredo. The alfredo delivered on the concept and had plenty of spinach and mushrooms. It was interesting, but it was not as good as the margherita. While a sourdough crust sounds nice, the sauce is what really popped. The overall balance of flavors, including that hint of sourness and a nice basil hit, delivered satisfaction. I wouldn't order another white pizza just given how good the red sauce was, but I'd be happy to come back. read more

We were so impressed with the pizza here and the young men making it! They definitely take pride in their pizza making. We had a margherita and a white pizza and they were both fabulous! The crust had the perfect chew to crisp ratio and each pie had the perfect amount of toppings on it. They have a decent canned craft beer selection but I didn't see any wine in the cold case. This is our new 'go-to' favourite pizza place. The staff are friendly and make delish pizzas. We've only ever used take out but might try eat in some time. It is always more convenient for us to bring our food home. The store is bright and clean There are other pizza places close to our house but this shop is worth the 15 min drive. read more

I was finally able to make my way over to Sourdough Pizza Company for the first time tonight. I've wanted to check out this spot for years, but I recently moved and only live 5 minutes away from their location so I made the sort drive over to check them out. First and foremost, the staff are wonderful and full of suggestions for first-time visitors. I decided to stay pretty simple tonight for my first visit. I went with the pepperoni ricotta pizza. The dough is wonderful. You can tell they take pride in their dough because the crust was excellent on my pizza. Also, I'm a sucker for ricotta on a pizza, so I knew I would like this one. The ricotta perfectly complemented the savoriness of the pepperoni, and the crushed red pepper gave it a nice little kick. They had so many interesting combinations that I'll definitely be back to try more. Their portion sizes are nice and I ate half my pie in store and will be having the other half as a midnight snack (if it lasts that long). If you're looking to ditch the chain and try something new in the Lynchburg area, I would definitely recommend giving Sourdough Pizza Company a try! read more

The best pizza in central VA. Had a chance to talk to the owner who showed me their all natural sourdough starter that they use for their bread and pizza dough. I love to find a favorite pizza place and this one is it. The pizza is delicious with great crust (perfectly cooked, not limp) robust tomato sauce and just the right amount of cheese. We tried their Hawaiian with a slight change of pepperoni instead of ham, and I probably could have eaten a whole pie myself, but portion control kept me to 2 slices. I recommend The Sourdough Pizza Company to anyone who enjoys pizza and sourdough is better for the gut health. read more

Just adding some perspective here. Tonight I stopped at SPC, as I always do my first night in Lynchburg. I got my usual Bee Sting and then went for the Buffalo Chicken (Go Bills!) Honestly, I was amazed how good the Buffalo Chicken pie was, but what I want to share is the behavior of the owner ... He had just finished preparing my pie for the oven, and as he was checking his work, he noticed a small onion that was not up to his standard. He stopped, removed the onion, and replaced it with an onion that met his standard. He could have easily let it go, or even just removed the small piece of onion. Ordered online a margherita pizza and their special BEE STING pizza one night around an hour before they closed, 8pm. When I got there three workers, no customers, were there and I was one of the two orders they had in their system. Once I got back home I opened the pizzas and they gave me two margherita pizzas, which was a bummer. They have only one size and so the order was around $36 (+ tip) so kind of spendy. I thought the pizza was super tasty, would have rated them higher if the order was correct. I like sourdough bread normally and loved how the margherita pizza turned out. Just stopped by randomly on my way home from work today, the owner was super friendly and we had a great conversation while I waited for my pizza to cook. Once I got my pizza I ate a slice as soon as I made it back to my car. I burned my mouth pretty severely on it, but before my taste buds blistered over I experienced the single greatest slice of pizza I have ever put in my mouth! This pizza is delicious! It had the best crust, to sauce, to cheese ratio I have ever eaten. This pizza was so good I actually downloaded yelp and made an account just to comment this. I had the pulled pork pizza and every part of it--the authentic pulled pork, the tangy but sweet bbq sauce, the mozzarella cheese, the sauted red onions, the crust--was perfect. Normally, I consider the crust on a pizza a necessary evil, but here it was delicious. My boyfriend got the pepperoni, which he said was the best pizza he'd had in Lynchburg. This is by far one of the best pizza places in the Lynchburg area! I'm down from New Jersey and take pride in pizza and can say ya da down, their pizza doesn't disappoint. When we arrived at the West Lake Shopping Center, the place looked very clean and well-maintained. In front of the restaurant it had a large light blue sign that read "PIZZA." Then on the window next to the door it had engraved over a shape of a pizza design: Benny Adelina's ... Home of the Virginia Slice." There was an outdoor dining area with round tables with blue colored umbrellas and chairs.There was another outdoor dining area with nicer outdoor furniture under the porch ceiling. Inside, the restaurant was very clean and yet rustic looking at the same time. Again, very well maintained. It had tables and chairs throughout, and was decorated with a Community Bulletin Board, a collage on a wall with photos taken at the restaurant of customers with their giant slice of pizza, and other framed articles about the pizza chain and about the restaurant. As we arrived, two young ladies, Paige and Makenzie gave us a warm and friendly welcome and took our order from behind the ordering counter. My friend ordered one of their special of the day slice and I ordered a pepperoni slice and asked if they could make it pepperoni and mushroom (my favorite) and they most graciously complied. I was impressed with the quality of the dough and of the ingredients used for the toppings. My friend treated the first round of a slice and a Dr Pepper and I liked it so much that I treated a second round. By the time we had finished eating the second round I was extremely full. I don't know how one could eat a whole pizza. Then my friend treated for ice-cream sandwiches for dessert. What a wonderful meal we had. I highly recommend this place for not only the largest slice of pizza you will ever have but also for the best pizza, an excellent customer service, and an amazing dining experience in a fun and relaxing environment.
