Super cute fun location. Service was great. Grabbed food to go. Chicken chili is amazing, not quite as expected, but blew my mind. I arrived at 11:30pm and the bar closed at 12am. Never did I think I would be tempted to order a slice at such an hour, but after one Devils Backbone VA draft brew, I knew I needed some other form of gluten. The result? I ordered one slice of pepperoni pizza at 11:55pm. Patiently, I waited for my slice to come out of the oven. It was, unfortunately, burnt to a crisp: the last slice. GONE. I was devastated. Then, I met Ken and Tyler. They said letting me leave without the slice I ordered would be unfair. Whenever my fiancé and I go on a date, it is always Rivermont Pizza. Super friendly staff, amazing vibe and even better pizza! Pistachio Pesto is my personal go to, my fiancé loves the Ricky! The majority of their pizza's are incredible exactly how they come! The only pizza I would warn against is the Thurman Thomas. In theory, a chicken wing style pizza works great, however, the raw veggies mixed with roasted chicken, cheddar cheese and buffalo sauce did not work for my taste preferences. Went here for dinner. We were seated right away and brought our drinks, then the wait began..... and it went on......and on......and on....... You get the point. After an hour of waiting we were finally told they had so many to go orders that they had to do those first!! Super disappointed to hear that. Finally got our food and ate; the pizza was really good as well as the kombucha beer I had, but the sweet tea was old. Please excuse my last review. I've had a lot of personal trauma which used to cause occasional fits of anger that were also inappropriately humorous at times. That said, I order from here occasionally because they have non-alcoholic beer and gluten free pizza. I think it's probably a cool little joint, where you can hang out and have local beers and listen to good music, although parking might be limited (I have parking anxiety). The arugula salad was especially good--sorry I don't have a picture but I ate it in a post-fasting frenzy. They have an appetizer called "The Bull Branch." That used to be a local bar and I have a lot of (also inappropriate) stories about frequenting there in my twenties but that's another type of website post. But I will add that I ordered that appetizer all the time and if it's anything like that one, I recommend it. I'm vying to eat every specialty pie there and try a couple other things. Cons: -Service has never failed to be slow. -One visit they put ice in my beer.. how can you do this and not even ask me if I want that. -The place was full (not packed) on a friend's birthday. They would not let our group of four in even though it was the dudes birthday and had ID to prove it. The fact that people were leaving and they still would not let us in just didn't make logical sense being that they were the only bar around open. -Rivermont screams unsanitary being in a damp, dirty, and dark basement. -Also from what I have seen there is no happy hour specials. Easily one of my favorite spots in Lynchburg every pizza has its own unique flair, and they come out nice and crispy every time. The Molokai is one of my personal faves, as well as the spinach artichoke dip--you CANT not get it! I've also had the white chicken chili nachos in several occasions, and they're delicious. They also have a few sandwiches on the menu that I've never tried but always look intriguing. The place has a really old, divey vibe but it works. It can feel dingy if you look hard enough for it, but the food and staff make the place a Lynchburg staple. It's a great place to come late for appetizers and drinks (they sell pizza by the slice after a certain time) and it's great for parties too. Sometimes it does feel like you get lost in the shuffle since it's such a busy place (waiters and waitresses are always working hard btw), but that comes with going somewhere so popular. All in all, if you visit LYH and don't visit Rivermont, you've just given yourself another reason to come back! read more

What can I say, an awesome place with even awesomer food and service. Let's start with ambience which is just short for Instagram possibilities. Seeing as we are older than 30, don't care about that. The food is solid and consistent, have yet to get anything less than fantastic. The venue is cool, basement bar with some natural light plus a bar some booths and great movies on a vcr tvcombo. These servers, bartenders, and back of house cooks are all kicking some serious butt. While everyone is really good, Katt is our go to. Knowledgeable, fun, smart, and accommodating, she made us feel welcome on our first week in the area and gave us some amazing insight to the area and food. Now whenever we visit, we ask or wait for Katt because she is so awesome. Don't like this place at all. What kind I have a pizza place needs a bouncer? This is just a front for a nightclub. Went here for the first time to get pizza and the bouncer would not let me in. He was rude to me and when I went back the second time there was hardly anyone in the restaurant and I wanted to order a pizza and he told me that I was not welcome there. Then he proceeded to knock my cell phone out of my hand when I tried to take a picture of the inside of the Decour for this review. I never got to try the pizza but even the people standing outside, who were also not allowed to go in, said that it was ridiculous. Won't try a third time. I enjoyed my Rivermont pizza well enough! We tried four different pizzas and I enjoyed the different flavors. I do wish that the toppings reached up higher on the pizza as they all had a lot of crust. It is a thin soft crust pizza with flour on the top so your hands will come out powdery. The pizzas are 12" personal size. We tried one with sweet potato and Italian sausage and that was my favorite! The mushroom was ok but a little boring. The Ricky pizza was my second favorite. It had sundried tomato and artichokes. Don't expect super cheesy pizzas here, they definitely taste more fresh than your typical pizza. We tried the arugula salad as well and it was super tasty and fresh. I do wish they had a Caesar salad, I feel like that should be a basic at all pizza places with salads. We got to go and I didn't go inside but it is in the basement of a building and has a big bar vibe. A lot of people go just for the bar and not the pizza. read more

Hands down the best pizza in Lynchburg. These guys actually chop the wood outside and put it into the oven -- no gas oven here like another pizza joint downtown. The flavors are outside of the box, but there is something for everyone there. Let's talk about my favorites. For appetizers, I love the spinach dip, it's super cheesy, and I'd recommend dousing it with red pepper flakes. I also love the roasted vegetables. For salads, the wilted spinach salad with sweet potatoes, bacon, and Gorgonzola is out of this world. I honestly have never gotten a sandwich here. If I'm going to RP, I'm getting pizza. Speaking of pizza, my favorites are the pistachio pesto pizza, which has goat cheese, chicken, tomatoes, and a pistachio pesto drizzled on it; I also love the Q, which has spinach, ricotta, carmelized onions, sometimes roasted peppers, and on the menu it comes with ground beef, but I get that subbed for pepperoni -- delicious! Now let's talk beer. You should not be going to RP for anything but beer. They have 20 beers on draft and the list is always changing. This isn't Bud Light and Coors, these are some of the best craft beers around. Ask your waiter for a list! They also do lots of events. I've read a lot of bad reviews on here about it being loud. Listen, the bands play late at night. If you don't want to come, don't come. Or ask your hostess before you get seated if there will be a band. I've also seen lots of people complain about it being a hipster joint. Yes, there may be a few rat tails, thick-rimmed glasses, and jean shorts up the place, but, it does not take away from the food. The hipsters know how to make food -- quit judging them. I've seen lots of families and older people in the restaurant who enjoy it just as much as the college crowd. After 10 pm on the weekends, it does become a 21 and up crowd, so be prepared. They also have great lunch specials and a late night menu featuring pizza by-the-slice. Let's not forget to mention trivia night on Mondays at 9 pm and date night on Wednesday night which offers an appetizer, pizza, dessert, and bottle of wine all for $30 -- a great bargain! read more
