Having been to a few... and memorizing our previous pizza orders, we only needed to glance at the apps to try something different. I opted for the meatballs and was not impressed. They were warm, at best, and dry. The wing sauce was good but they also were barely warm when they got to the table. The salad is always better with the Esperanza dressing; it's good. The food choices and flavors are excellent! Pretzel bites are a must! Service was pleasant and server was well versed on what to suggest. I would give it a 4.5 rating if it were permitted. My ONLY issue was the Caesar salad was heavily doused with anchovies, making it extremely salty and not palatable. Couldn't eat it. I did not actually eat at this location; I ordered delivery for my first, and perhaps only time, here. I ordered their new Beef Taco pizza, which was a joke. It was a plain ol', run-of-the-mill pizza without any sauce that made me glad I inky ordered a small. My partner ordered wings which they said were good, using the terms "tasty" and "meaty" to describe them, yet they found they were too expensive for the portion size. Their site is well-designed and easy-to-navigate, however, I have a bone to pick, in that there is no place to include driver instructions, and as a result, the driver didn't even knock on my door. Instead, they LEFT MY FOOD ON THE GROUND. I docked their rating a whole star for this. The pandemic is over, so it is expected that you knock or ring the doorbell and hand the order to the person ordering it (and tipping, no less), not leave it on the unsanitary ground where it would only take mere seconds for insects to crawl into. The value and the quality of the food just wasn't there, for me, and that's a shame, since I had long been looking forward to trying the pizza here. What a cool spot! The vibe is great, pizza delicious, taps cold, fair priced and a great variety...it's a great spot to be. We have a location here in Virginia Beach and had no idea it was like this. The restaurant decor was spectacular with that 60s hippie feel! The colors inside were vibrant enough to make a "deadhead" dizzy and pass out!‍ The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. Looking at the menu you can tell right away that this place is built around being a pizza connoisseur's and draft beer. I ordered chicken wings for appetizers and a steak and cheese sandwich as a main course . The wings were perfect BUT the steak and cheese sandwich was surprisingly NOT good! The first time, this main course came out it was cold or room temperature at best, almost like it was pulled out of a refrigerator. The bread, the meats and melted cheese was cold, hard and not fresh. Very surprised! I usually NEVER send food back but for the first time I send it back after the first bite, asking them to reheat the food! While waiting for my reheated food, my dear friend offered me a His pepperoni pizza was fantastic! The pizza crust crispy was epic! Next time I come here or if I come I would recommend to try the pizza and omit the rest. Is was fun visiting this place but not sure if I am too eager to be back here anytime soon! Not sure why MM in the 'burg doesn't get better reviews. I'll be honest, since landing here in the city late in 2022, not terribly impressed by the plant-based/vegetarian options. Most places don't even try to provide an alternative to slabs of meat. That's fine. I can always cook at home. Once-in-awhile, on a Friday, it's nice to go out with my better half and have a pie and a salad, and drinks. We'd been to the MM in Charlottesville back in December. We liked it. Thought we'd give the Lynchburg location a shot. The crust is very good. Not sure what the secret is. They mention spring water. The toppings are varied for either a vegetarian or someone looking for plant-based options. Some decent options for salads, and the appetizer we had, the spinach dip, was excellent. I haven't beenimpressed with most of the pizza places I've tried in Lynchburg, but I haven't tried mellow mushroom yet. I spent about twenty minutes on their website trying my best to order a pizza for pickup. I kept trying the "order" button, but it would not pull up anything, so I tried changing to desktop view, then I tried a different browser, but still no luck. As a last resort, I tried calling the location thinking I could speak to a live person and order that way. Well, no surprise, I got a recording, but at least it gave me the address for the order page. I ordered my pizza, but discovered I had to fill out a bunch of information in order for them to process my payment. I considered giving up then, but I really wanted a pizza, so I filled everything out and went to pay, only to have an error message pop up. At that point I gave up. I guess I wanted a pizza much more than they wanted my money, so I will oblige them and never darken their doorstep or their website. read more

I had been wanting to eat at Mellow Mushroom ever since I'd seen it in Asheville, NC. On my way to visit family in the area of Lynchburg, I was excited when I stumbled on this location. I was there right at open one Sunday. Was seated in the bar area. While the waiter was nice, I had an odd feeling. Before ordering I went to the ladies room... one of the two stalls was backed up. (At opening of restaurant) My companion said his bathroom stunk. Nevertheless, we ordered a pizza. Our order arrived quickly. But as our waiter walked away, I couldn't help but notice him taking both hands and vigorously scratch his head. Now, keep in mind he had served our food with gloves on, and with them still on he proceeded to scratch his head. I couldn't decide if this was a statement or someone completely clueless to hygiene. And, I wondered what else he had done with the gloves on prior to serving us. Either way, it made for a difficult meal and a disappointing experience. Last night I went to Mellow Mushroom with a friend and the food was great and the sweet tea was on point, as a southern person who likes his sweet tea it was really good. The service on the other hand was not that good. Our server on the other hand seemed very lost. Max our server seemed to want to hang out near a table by the bar more than work. I would understand if they were busy, not being able to check up on his tables in a timely manner. As I said the sweet tea was good and I also had a glass of water with sweet tea, after he came to the table to check on which seemed like 25 mins in my eyes he kept asking if I would like more sweet tea, after saying no a few times. I was disappointed that he kept asking if I wanted more tea, I do understand people asking during their meal if they want more tea, however, I had said no twice and he kept pushing if I wanted more tea.
