Back for lunch 9/1/15 and had a burger with mushrooms and cheese a good solid burger. Hash brown potatoes on the side, done perfectly just a little crispy. Cook and waitress one and the same very friendly and pleasant. Young lady handling the counter was shouting out men thanks for being men and keep being men also pleasant. A couple of small chicken coops in the side yard, probably not enough to supply all the eggs for the diner but interesting to watch. read more

We come here pretty often after moving from Virginia last year. The staff is super nice and treat us like family. They have fun while making sure everyone is taken care of. Our little girl who often gets cranky and cries or screams is treated very nicely by the staff, sometimes they give her a toy to play with. I've been to other diners in the area but this one is by far my favorite. read more

Stopped in early this afternoon for a bite before hitting the road. I'd been here one time before with my parents and remembered it being okay. Love the atmosphere! Small and cozy, lots of cute decor and very cleanly. Ordered an egg and cheese sandwich, it was pretty good. Service was good, prices very reasonable. Oh and great coffee! Stopped for breakfast on Saturday morning. The place wasn't too busy, so I was surprised to find the tables were dirty. Someone came by and gave it a quick wipe down but leaving many toast crumbs behind that I got rid of with a napkin. I ordered an omelet with toast. Halfway through my omelet, I realized I had something foreign in my mouth. I spit it into a napkin to find a bread tie.I brought this to the attention of our server, she came back and offered $1 off my breakfast. Really, a whole dollar? Chad's eSCAPE review. Interesting place and probably a hidden gem for diner enthusiasts. Service (+). The waitress was outstanding. I stopped here from the interstate to complete a presentation and needed a place to sit, work and grab something quick to eat. The waitress recognized this and immediately told me that she wouldn't bug me and told me to just wave when I was ready to order. Cost (+). Very inexpensive. I got a plate of spaghetti and meatballs and an ice tea all for $8 even. Everything on the menu was very reasonably priced. I believe the special was the most expensive thing I saw. Atmosphere. Very small and cozy inside. Only had a handful of tables and a few places at the bar. It was decorated very appropriately. Definitely a hometown and local establishment. The only downfall here was that it didn't have any sort of air conditioning and they had a box fan in the window. The temperature was fine but the noise of the fan was overwhelming in the small establishment. Palate. Small diner places like this either have a hidden gem in the kitchen or they don't. The special was spaghetti and meatballs and the dish was very plain. The sauce appeared to come from possibly a can and the meatballs were cooked independent of the sauce resulting in them being slightly dry. If you are going to have and advertise a special, it is important there is something "special" about it. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't anything I would remember or order again. Everything Else (+). I wish I took a picture of the outside. Without a sign you would have no idea this was a diner. It most likely was part of an old farm house turned to diner. For a neat, summer diner experience where it appears for the regulars that "everybody knows your name", this is a neat stop. read more

Well, we must've caught this place on a bad day or something from reading the other reviews. We were starving and sat at the counter hoping to get fast service. Unfortunately it was painfully slow. Omelet was burned and wasn't even an omelet- it was a scramble, coffee was cold, the home fries were hours old and hard and sausage tasted funny. Frittata it was "nota" with no ricotta just an omelette with way too much frozen.Only one slice of my rye was toasted as the cook must of just gave up or the toaster was broken. Forgot my homefries but my other half said they were old mushy and tasted horrible. His omelet didn't taste like anything and was runny, his piece of pineapple garnish was brown and leaking into his omelette.Waitress did not come over after bringing us the food. On our trip from Buffalo, NY to Killington, VT we found this local diner a few miles off the 90 in Amsterdam, NY on a Monday. Let me tell you, this place is one of the most amazing , if THE most amazing "Local Diners" we've ever experienced. Anita was quick and whitty with the conversation and within 60 secs we all had fresh big bowls of freshly made beef stew on the table already and garlic bread in the oven. We talked about our vacations plans and when we were headed back through. She asked if we wanted her to make something special for us on Thursday when we were passing through. I said pierogi?, she responded with excitement "golabki!" We came back and we just ate like kings. Food was delicious .
