Really good Italian restaurant! I dined here on a weekend afternoon and sat at the bar. It's a nice, modern looking restaurant with a great menu. I started with the Saranac Blueberry Blonde, which is a refreshing beer that smells exactly like blueberry muffins - it's so good! The bartender also brought out a delicious bread basket to start and the olive oil it came with was amazing - it had chunks of roasted garlic in it. For my entree, I ordered the Penne a la Vodka with shrimp, which came with a house salad. It was fantastic! It had a good amount of shrimp in it too. Overall, the food was great and the service was a little slow but thankfully the food was worth the wait. I was too stuffed to try any dessert but I hope to if I'm in the area again! read more

First time eating at Nicholino's ...restaurant was beautifully decorated, waitress was amazing but for a nice fancy restaurant they should be able to have tables that don't move constantly due to being uneven! The table moved to the point where it was annoying. Either the table needs to be replaced or repaired. Waitress was aware. Nothing was offered to "remedy" the issue. One person ordered the steak (medium) and it wasn't medium. It was well done. My shrimp scampi was more like "shrimp soup". Way too much liquid! My alcoholic drink had barely if any, alcohol in it. We went there last night for dinner. The host told us he would try to fit us in since we did not have a reservation. It took 30 minutes to get a drink and the waitress said the bartender was backed up. We got mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat as an appetizer and they were overcooked and cold. They came before the drinks. My partner got filet mignon and roasted potatoes and it was cold. My tortellini and Shrimp was in a soupy sauce. They had a huge party come in after us and apparently they were overwhelmed. read more

My fiancé and I stopped in as a nice place for our anniversary meal, and with decent gluten-free options. Forgot the photo, but we ordered pasta as well as the eggplant Parm entrée. The gluten-free pasta was nothing super special and eggplant lacked some distinctive seasoning. The app were good and a special shout out to both the gluten-free and gluten filled breads to table. Staff was very friendly, but the inside definitely had some drawbacks with dust and cobwebs around different areas . It was too early for Halloween. Overall, this was an average meal and though not a deterrent does not make it a must stop next year. read more

I genuinely don't know how people are saying this place is delicious. It must be that up here we have some sort of misconception of how good food is because we allow people to serve us awful food and get away with it. This place is TERRIBLE, the pasta is always overcooked and flavorless. They poured a mountain of fake Parmesan on top of a 36 dollar seafood pasta. The service is BAD, waiting up to 20 minutes for a check, and hours for the food to be delivered. I've given this place multiple opportunities. But it is just not good. read more

I don't give reviews very often but lunch today was so delicious I had to comment. My sister and I each had a cheese burger built to our requests. It was done perfectly, juicy and very tasty. No added cost for my caramelized onions and roasted red peppers. No added cost for a second helping of ranch dressing for my side salad. I went to Nicolinos on Saturday night with friends. The atmosphere of the restaurant was fantastic. We sat at the bar while we waited for our party to arrive. The bartender was great and attentive. The hostess who sat us was very accommodating as she got our table ready. The waitress was very helpful when I shared my food allergies. The food was delicious and tasted fresh and made to order. Some friends and I went here for Italian food and it was a huge mistake. By far the Italian pasta dishes were the worst we have ever tasted. The penne pasta was cold and hard. My friend ordered linguine and words can not describe how bad it was. Don't waste your time and money ordering pasta dishes. The best meal I've had in 10 years and I worked in a restaurant in the back of the house when I was young. Delicious food and family style meals are very reasonable. Really enjoyed the chicken parm. Just loved the bread too!

First visit after them reopening last week. Dinner took over an hour to get. The appetizers came fast, but then we found ourselves sitting for an hour waiting for the food. When the food came, we were very disappointed. Three of us had the eggplant dinner. The eggplant was one slice very thin and burnt on all three dinners, instead of being served with penne, it was served with linguine, not what was on the menu one of us had the lasagna which was also burnt. Myself, and one other person had the penny à la vodka. They poured a scoop of house sauce over the middle king. I have never seen that before on penny à la vodka all of the dinners were on edible and not what we expected. The people we were with I've gone there for over 30 years and we're very disappointed would not recommend this place anymore. I chose Nicolino's for my wife's 50th birthday party and boy am I glad I did. Some of my friends felt previously that the level of service at the restaurant was not very good. There were also a few bumps in the road communication wise, but they were all worked out, solely due to the efforts of Liv Casella. She completely turned things around and she did a phenomenal job in helping me plan this party. I can't state enough how I impressed I was with her. We decided on menus quickly and party size and all other party specifics. Day of event was just incredible. We had some decorations and they were very accommodating and let me hang up everything I had. The food was incredible, my guests loved the selections, and were even offered take home containers once everyone had eaten. I previously had not been impressed with the bartender that was on, but he did an excellent job day of party, he made me a fan when I wasn't one previously. The overall service I experienced at the party was top notch. The ladies communicated with me often and were very sweet to the guest of honor(my wife) and all of the party goers. I booked the party at Nicolino's hoping for the best. I leave the party with great memories and can confidently state that I would highly recommend Nicolino's for small or medium parties. I was here recently for a party. The service from the waitress and bar staff was very good. The salad with our dinner was exceptional. My dinner however was a big disappointment. I ordered the eggplant rollatini. They forgot about my dinner and by the time I was served everyone at my table was done eating. That did not bother me but my dinner was cold. The eggplant was not cooked, seemed to be a slice of eggplant served over ricotta cheese and it was raw. The pasta and sauce were cold as well. It was too late to send it back as everyone else was finished. I heard later that I was not the only one who had this issue with this entree. Disappointing...I've been here a bunch of times but tonight was disappointing. The Surf and turf special tonight was 16oz NY strip with 2 fries shrimp and 2 fried scallops. Lucky if the steak was 10oz (thin and over cooked). Ordered medium and came out nearly well done. The seafood items were large but was over breaded and over fried. Do not recommend. It was not a busy night and once we we're seated, not a single waitstaff came to our table for at least 20 minutes. When someone finally came over we didn't get out drinks for another 20 minutes. Not only was the service slow but no one checked on us throughout the service. The food took a very long time to arrive. I ended up going and finding the takeout containers myself and packed up my leftovers. Amazing food! The bar and dining area are up to date and modern. Attended a brunch recently and the food was fresh and delicious. It wasn't some crusty old junk in a chafing dish. I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. I have passed it many times and finally decided to stop in. My mom ordered the antipasto, the presentation was beautiful and she very much enjoyed it. I would like to redo my previous review. The food here recently has always been very good. Service is great and so is the atmosphere. This place has become our go to place in amsterdam. I had the salmon special and it was very good. Lots of flavor. The bread is very good and they give you a very nice glass of wine. If you haven't been here in a while please give it another chance. Not very fancy on the outside but really nice on the inside. The food was very good. We had Bruschetta it was well done. The bread was hot out of the oven with a nice garlic and oil dish for dipping, the waitress was not over bearing but appeared before I had a chance to look around for my second beer. The salad was awesome a bit small but so flavorful. Excellent lasagna was as good as any I have had and that's a lot of lasagna I was full by the last 2 or 3 bites I should of never taken but it was too good to pass . The wife had a tiramisu it looked good . I do not go to Amsterdam much but I look forward to going here again. And as good as the Italian dressing was. We had a fantastic meal and fantastic service tonight. The 2 appetizers were delicious and unique. Make sure to try the portobello mushroom dish, everyone loved it. The fresh bread was absolutely fabulous, served with both butter and with olive oil & garlic. The house meatball was particularly delicious also, as well as the veal picatta. We also ordered the beans and greens dish without added meat, which is primarily escarole and white beans- the vegetarians in our group particularly enjoyed this dish as quite unique.
