I first fried up a few and added them to a small pot of marinara sauce. When we ate it, there were hard lumps of what I would call grizzle in the sausage. I figured I didn't let them cook down enough to render all of the fat so yesterday I fried up a bunch again and added then to a pot of sauce and let them cook down for a much longer time. Same result with the lumps of grizzle. Although the flavor was good I have come to the conclusion that once again another pork place is adding cuts into the sausage that don't belong there. I threw what I had left in the freezer into the garbage. Why is it that no one makes a good sausage without it having hard grizzle or bone fragments anymore? I can remember when I was young and my mother made sausage in the sauce this was never an issue. They were always easy to chew and delicious. Now you have to worry about breaking your teeth! I am sadly giving up on trying to find good Italian sausage. Since Swan Butcher closed in Bethpage, no one knows how to make it anymore. I am sorry to say we will not be back.

Anyone can impress for one dinner but when the second visit is better than the first you know…read moreyou've found a special spot. Chef Mike and team provide exceptional food and service with a personal touch usually reserved only for socialites in Manhattan. For our second dinner visit we doubled our party to 8 and dug a little deeper into the menu. Cocktails and Wine were nicely crafted and presented with skill. For starters we chose orders of Fried Calamari w/tomato sauce, fresh Potato Pancakes w/applesauce and the big pretzel. While you would expect perfect potato pancakes at a German inspired restaurant the quality of the Calamari might surprise. Perfect batter and cook with a tasty sauce. The table varied up the mains which upped the challenge for the kitchen but all dishes were served perfectly prepared and together. 4 chose the signature Sauerbraten with fresh red cabbage. The meat was fork tender and perfectly sauced. The Twin Grilled Pork Chops, Tomahawk for 2 and Roast Lamb followed and equally impressed. Of note was the char on the pork which contrasts well with the sauce. Personal note; I tend to be very skeptical ordering lamb but had faith in Chef Mike. Might have been the best Roast Rack of Lamb I've ever eaten! The flavor on the crust was bold, meat temperature was a perfect mid-rare and the sauce had a surprise sweetness that balanced the plate. For dessert three fresh Apple Strudel w/strawberries and vanilla ice cream brought it all home. Note: last visit we made note of the dining room decor and in fairness I should do the same. Great Job brightening up the room and setting beautiful white table covers w/valentine red runners. The room looked crisp and inviting. Pine Grove Inn is a bit off the regular path in Patchogue but absolutely worth a little drive. I'm looking forward to seeing this restaurant full on our next visit even if we have to fill it with our friends.

I was there with a group for lunch followed by bingo. We paid one price which included a drink, either alcoholic or not, a lunch entree and coffee & cake. The bartender was very friendly and made really good sangria and I'm not usually a fan but his was not too sweet. There was bread on the table which was refilled on request. The wait staff made sure there was also two pitchers of water which I appreciate. I got the fried trio which consisted of 2 baked clams, 2 nice sized shrimp and pile of calamari. All three were nice and crisp and tasty. One of the other people at my table got the chicken Caesar salad which was huge and they enjoyed it very much. From what I could tell everyone enjoyed their meals. The staff was friendly & professional I will certainly go back at another time to try some of the regular menu items and I would recommend it for lunch or dinner

I had asked for horseradish to go with the fresh oysters initially. after he ran my card and took the payment the 1st time i noticed I didn't get the horseradish so the employee looked at me and said $2.00 plus tax and credit card fee. I clearly didn't have cash just my debit card so he proceeded to then ring me up for the smallest container of horseradish and then taxed me again twice on the purchase ! In addition to that when he charged me for a everything he forgot to charge me for the oyster which I pointed out the amount didn't seem to add up it seemed to cheap so he checked and he realized he didn't so he then ran my card a 3rd time with both tax fees. I was beyond words I just spent well over $300 and you couldn't say it's okay no worries doesn't that usually come along with fresh oysters lemons and cocktail sauce.... I would come here all the time but after that experience I'm not even sure anymore. Something as small as that turns away loyal customers because after it's all said and done you should have included the condiments with the purchase.
