I have been going to this hardware for over 25 years and have spent thousands of dollars during this time. Recently I have been re gelcoating a boat and have spent hundreds of dollars on painting supplies such as brushes, rollers, trays, gloves, acetone, mixing cups, etc. Today I went to buy more rollers and asked if I could get 4-5 paint stir sticks and was told no. I later asked the manager and she smugly ask why didn't I get them when I bought the paint. Years and years of loyal patronage and this is the customer service we get. Horrible customer service from store manager named veronica I've seen reviews below about her saying she's rude and racist which is true. If everyone is saying them it's best to believe it instead of going and experiencing it like I did But her store only had the item I needed so I had to drive far from home to go get it I placed the order online and picked it up and they didn't give me a receipt even after I asked. I didn't use the item so the very next day I called and asked if I can return the item since I live far and that I don't have the receipt but I have the email copy and the lady on the phone said yes. I even told her the item I'm returning and she repeated herself. I drove all the way there and she had this rude attitude and said "no you are not returning this item here. I'm not accepting it. It is a hardware store close to Lincoln Road in South Beach that sell tools, paints, lighting, cleaning and pet supplies, and supplies for maintenance and repair, electrical, flooring, plumbing, lawn and garden and much more. You don't need to be an expert to shop here, as they have helpful and friendly personnel that helps you find what you need. I know because I always come here to buy my home repair needs. I used to go to this store all the time, and the service is/was good depending on who you speak to. But the last few times I've been, the service has been horrible. Some of the staff are miserable (you can tell they hate their jobs), including the manager. When items are out of stock (after multiple requests on whether they can be ordered), they don't offer to help or find out. The prices were always extremely high, but the service used to be excellent. Now I have no reason to go there anymore unfortunately.... 11/29/20 the associates are really friendly and go out of their way to help you find what you are looking for. Not your typical ACE Hardware store layout more like your mom & pop hardware with well stocked inventory, tight aisles, and great customer service. The owner of this Ace hardware store chooses to enforce an outdated and draconian masking policy based on fear and compliance rather than data or rational thought. I thought it was pretty good overall. The store is packed with inventory but it's well organized. I found an item I wanted online that it said they had in stock so I called ahead and they answered the phone promptly and checked to see if they had it and they did so they held it for me. That is kind of rare in Miami these days. The place was pretty busy and had a parking lot on one side of the store. Unfortunately the GPS took me to the other side of the store so I parked on the street and paid for parking. The employees were helpful and a man helped me with the flashlights. I got a couple of keys made at the key counter and I think the clerk there saw me standing there but ignored me but I asked the lady adjacent to keys and she called for assistance. He made the keys quickly though and they work fine. I would definitely go back. read more

A spectacularly well packed store, their Motto should be "If we don't have it, you don't need it". I am convinced the store merchandiser is a maximalist prepared to furnish your every need, even having eco friendly drawers for purchase at the register. Old fashioned hardware store. Cramped, and they have everything and it's slightly expensive. Still, they have lots of staff who are there to advise you on what kind of screws to use to use on concrete (and the drill bit to do the pilot hole) and what kind of tubing to use to drain my plants -- both real examples of times they helped me out. Once, I bought a box of Spin'n'Span there that must have been 15 years old. Still -- who cares? It worked fine and TBH I'm not even sure they make Spin'n'Span anymore! Recommend. Also, it's right near the Post Office, in case you need top drop anything off. read more

It's small and crammed to the hilt in here...but they pretty much always have what I need when I don't want to make the long drive elsewhere... the prices are higher too but sometimes it's worth it to not have to make that long drive. The staff is ALWAYS friendly and very helpful. We've had no problem with getting great brands for ac filters, drill bits, tools, had keys made, faucet parts, & cleaning products. Despite their slightly outrageous trash can prices, the people here are really really helpful and sweet. If you're a South Beach resident, you know this little hardware store compensates for the local's lack of Home Depot. Even though it's a miniature store, they've got stuff packed up to the ceiling. This Ace Hardware location packs everything you could possibly need from a hardware store into a relatively miniscule location, sandwiched between Crunch and Epicure on Alton Road. I've come in for various things I've needed for decorating my apartment, as well as random other stuff that I couldn't find elsewhere. For example, Ace Hardware hooked me up with the material I used to fashion my golden lasso for my Wonder Woman costume for Halloween! Service can be a little hard to find, but just keep looking for someone who works there - you'll find 'em eventually! The central cashier is a little weird, and when it's crowded, it's hard to get past the lines to continue to wander the aisles. Parking can be a little tricky - there's several rows of meters in back (the parking lot between the store & West Ave). Just be sure you don't park in Epicure's designated rows. read more

I went there on Saturday, Sept 22, 2012 to buy a dimmer. It was raining heavily that day and although there were other customers in the store, it was not busy by any means. After spending several minutes looking for it myself, I found an employee who directed me to a selection of dimmers, but he did not assist me further and scampered away like he had something much more pressing than to deal with me. I wasn't sure which one to buy, so I tried to ask the same guy, but he continued to act as if he was otherwise preoccupied, which was strange since the store was practically empty. I tried to speak to him no less than 3 times. Finally, I selected a dimmer that looked right, but I wanted to make sure about a certain aspect of it and asked him a specific question pertaining to the item. He said yes to this question, so I purchased it: about $42. However, I discovered it would not work once I got it home and opened the packaging. I immediately called the store and told them what the problem was, in fact, I asked for a manager and I explained everything, including what the item was and what the problem was. I was concerned that I had opened the bubble pack, but I was told that there would be no problem returning it. However, when I went there the next day, they refused to take it back, saying that this type of thing cannot be returned, especially since it had been opened. I had a similar problem with another dimmer I purchased from Home Depot, but they took it back with no questions asked, (and yes it had been opened). In this instance, I went there and picked it off the shelf, only to find out later that I needed a different type. At the Ace Hardware on Alton Road, I DID ask and made several attempts to get some help. The sales associate was less than helpful and rather evasive. I must point out that I make an effort of being polite, so it's not like I was being difficult or rude, but I was made to feel like I was imposing on him. Another thing that I found annoying was that when I called to tell them about the problem, the person who answered the phone was inconsiderate. I was trying to explain the situation, when she started giggling and was apparently having a conversation with someone else. I asked for the manager at this point. Like I said, I explained everything to him, including that the packaging had been opened. I was told that there was no problem and I could return it. I remember asking him if he was sure about that and he relied yes to this. Apparently "yes" means something different at Ace Hardware on Alton Road. Good thing I purchased it with my American Express, because I am disputing the charge. It's not the money, but the principle of the thing. I asked for help, and asked specific questions, but was misled and bought the wrong thing. They refused to take it back even though they told me otherwise on the phone. I am an above board person and made sure that they understood everything pertaining to the problem. I have lived in Miami Beach for over 20 years. I have been a customer of this store ever since I moved here, but I will never go there again. I get much better treatment and service at Home Depot. I'll drive the extra miles. read more

I have been living on the beach for 15 years and have used them as my go-to for hardware items the entire time. The overall experience is so different that going to a larger warehouse-sized store. I have always gotten excellent service, and even more importantly, I have always been in and out of there with exactly what I needed super fast. The reason I am leaving a review today is because my mother, who is visiting, went into the store to pick some things up and told me how nice and helpful the owner was with her. It is important to recognize local stores who give back to our community. The prices may be higher than what you can find online, but that is no substitute for direct help and assistance. i want to start off by saying i have mix feelings about this ace hardware. to the point. i would drive ALL THEY WAY to home depot in north miami even tho i live 2 blocks away. anyway. today i had to run and grab some paint last minute so i had to come here. i walked in and that's when my mother and I met SCOTT. what a freakin heaven sent employee. seriously. i am working on a wall and honestly clueless on paint but he was overly helpful and the way he treated my mom and I. i honestly have never gotten service like this in my freakin life. he told me everything i needed along with his personal recommendations of paint brushes and cleaners. My mom and I asked 1000 questions and he answered all of them clear and precise.I could not believe it because i came here last week and that was not my experience with any of the other employees. Scott went above and beyond tonight and to see there are still people out there this willing to help in customer service gives me hope on this hardware store. we were dreading painting this wall but scott got us excited. maybe i won't be driving to home depot after all.... that's if scott is working lol. anyways that man deserves a raise!!! . we ended up going in for 50 dollar paint and left with 150 dollars worth of supplies afterwards. i would do it all again for this customer service. I've been in here about 342 times (exaggerating) in the past year and everyone has been so nice and helpful every time. I was disappointed to see that the lady, appearing to be a supervisor behind the counter did not acknowledging the unusually long wait time in the line. When I stepped out of the line to ask her if it was possible to open another register she replied "she's counter the money now to open it"...how ever was delivered with a bit of poor attitude. Living on the beach it is a miserable hike to Home Depot. Ace, right on Alton above Lincoln is a great place to find the basic things for around the house as long as you are not trying to build an entire addition or replace a toilet. I have found everything here from water pots, soil, tools, batteries, light bulbs, a mildew resistant shower curtain, drawer organizers, laundry bags... the list goes on. it seems everyone in the store knows exactly where everything is. They are knowedgable, and even solved my ant problem by selling me Tero. I now go here for most everything I need around the apartment, and will continue to do so. read more

This isn't just any old hardware store. They have home goods in here too, like cutlery and decorative items. And it's a little gem in Miami due to its incredibly helpful and knowledgeable staff, all of whom speak English fluently! Sorry, but the language and communication barrier begins to wear on me after a while, and it's nice to find a place where I'm understood without having to repeat myself or dumb it down. You can tell this is a family-owned business with owners who care and pass that ethic down to their staff. Everyone is extremely helpful and while it's not the cheapest place in town, it's very handy if you're living on the Beach and don't feel like getting on the causeway to get to one of the bigger stores. Did I mention how helpful they are? I went in to pick up stuff to refinish a piece of wood furniture and got lots of help and advice from the staff so bear in mind that you're paying for service too.
