They were reasonably priced, right on time, professional and there were NO surprises which is one thing I really appreciated. When we got to the storage unit where I was putting most of my furniture, the electricity was off. The guys just clicked on a flashlight and got down to business in the pitch black dark! I've been nickel-and-dimed by moving companies before and there are a lot of unscrupulous bad actors out there in this industry. The move overall was good, but I'm annoyed by what seems to be a bait and switch when it came to payment... I was informed the day before ( which is much too late to schedule another moving service) that they might not be able to take a credit card for the move and asked me to do a BIG FAVOR by paying cash. This was a move being paid for by my company and I needed to put the charges on the corp card. I was told that I'd get a discount if I paid in cash, which ended up being offered as $10. Really? $10 savings for me so that your taxable income is reduced to whatever you want to report? I said that I still wanted to pay by credit card without the discount, and was then told that the credit card machine was not working. Really, again? That's not even in the realm of being believable because no one needs a "machine" to take a CC payment these days - it can be done on the phone or on-line.Somehow, the credit card "machine" worked fine for them to take my deposit even though it was done over the phone. I was more than happy to pay for the 2 hour minimum when the move took only 50 minutes to complete because that's what was agreed upon, but I'd also expect that payment terms this company agreed to be honored, which they were not. But again - the 3 guys who did the move were professional, respectful and did a great job. 5 stars for them, 2 stars for the management. read more

From the moment I called for a quote from this company, my expectations were exceeded. The owner was very nice and made me feel comfortable using his company. It was an extremely scary process finding a company because I heard bad stories from my friends. The owner told me that he treats his customers like he would his family. I had originally scheduled a company to move us on New Years Eve at 9AM, but after repeated calls to dispatch I was informed that our assigned driver had decided to take the day off, and they had no one available to cover. I needed to move out of our old apartment by Monday to avoid a fine so I called multiple companies who either told me they had no one available or quoted me out at extremely high prices to come out that day and get us moved. I finally called George who quoted me a more than fair price, and told me he could be to my place in an hour and a half. He showed up in an hour. George and his team were fast, efficient, and careful with all of our boxes and furniture. They read each box and carefully handled anything marked fragile. The moved with an alacrity and efficiency I have rarely seen in other moving companies. The team was friendly and every person worked hard to get everything done in time. Nothing in the move was broken and honestly, everything went perfectly. The owner, George was an excellent communicator and was very responsive. Scheduling the move was easy and straight forward, all you need to pay is a $50 deposit. During the day of the move his son Jose and his team of two friends arrived 15 minutes early and started right away. His team were very helpful, upbeat and positive - they made moving look like so much fun. Jose's team was very efficient they finished the whole move in less than 5 hours. My favorite part of it all - my clay pots made it to the new apartment without any cracks - that's how ridiculously meticulous and careful they are. I used South Beach Movers for the second time this past weekend. I had to move furniture from my late mother's house to a storage facility. She passed away several years ago and I was finally being allowed to take possession of the items left to me in her will. I had let them know it might be a contentious situation so our plan was to get in, get everything out, load up and get out of there with as little fuss as possible. The three guys they sent were awesome. They arrived on time, they were big and strong, really knew what they were doing, and once we got in the house, we were in and out in an hour and on our way to storage. Mission accomplished! Can I give them 10 stars? I needed someone to help pack a truck for an out of state move. I called several places and found South Beach Movers to be the most professional and well-priced. George, Cesar and Sherman arrived on time and did an amazing job moving all my furniture and fitting it all in to the truck like a giant game of Tetris! They are super efficient and move fast. I scheduled a move for 11am. The son of the owner called me at 11 telling me he is downstairs. I run downstairs and cannot find him. After calling and texting, I called the owner and asked where is son is. The owner raised his voice, told me that I had better comply or he will not move me. I was stunned, didn't know what to say so he says "guess you choose not to have us move you and be stuck" and hangs up the phone. I would have had a real problem, except the move was a mattress, a box spring, two suitcases and a bag. I didn't need a mover, just thought it would make my life easier. I go back up to my unit and the son and assistant are waiting for me. The son is very nice, tells me he will move me no problem, ignore the father. I ask if he's sure and he says yes. They move everything out of the apt, and while waiting for the elevator the owner calls the son and tells him not to move me, and put everything back. Which they did. I ended up saving around $200 because it took me an hour and change to make 3 trips in my friends minivan, but I could have had a real problem. If you want to work for your movers, call this guy. Otherwise, avoid at all costs. read more

SBM is a great company. I needed a small glass table and four chairs moved only 6 miles. I called numerous companies and all of them were either really expensive or did not want to assist me with the move because it was a short distance. Not SBM they were willing to do the job and at a very fair price. The owner Jorge was great to work with, he responded quickly to any questions I had, and was efficient in the delivery. I have been using and recommending these movers for years without problems. But during my last scheduled move, it was a disappointment. I was moving from one apartment building to another with reserved elevators and time frames for both. The scheduled move was allowed from 1-5pm on both buildings and I contracted them at 1pm. They contacted me at exactly 1pm saying they were going to run about 1 - 1.5 hours late and I reiterated to them I had to move out that day within those time frames. No problem or so i thought. At 3pm I did not hear from Them and I contacted them. They simply said to me they weren't coming. I contacted the moving company to speak to a manager and they left me on hold for 10 Minutes and hung up. I called again and they would hang up on me until they blocked my number! They would not have contacted me at 3pm had I not called them first and with not s care in the world simply said we aren't coming. Leaving me with no alternative to look for another company on short notice. I had to plead so I would not have to pay an extra month of rent at my old apartment and ask for them to make an exception and move on a day they do not schedule moves. I didn't give this company the minimum 1 star because they did excellent work before. But I will never recommend or use this company again. I understand things get complicated but the way it was handled was terrible. They preferred to ignore me than offer solutions. My only advice is do not get verbal confirmation and Get a written confirmation of a scheduled move. When I contacted another company they gave me a written confirmation and were in constant communication with me. read more

The worst! Signed up for 3 guys for 2 hours. One guy was injured so I got 2, my price was not reduced and it took over 4 hours!!! Mostly because only one guy was actually working. The other one stayed in the truck the entire time. Every once in awhile the guy in the truck would show up carry something out and then disappear for another 20 minutes. I had a 15 foot UHaul completely full (for a 1 bedroom) that they unloaded in well under two hours (even after the long waits for the service elevator). Then, because they were so quick, they offered to assemble my bed, table and fix my desk. George and his guys were polite, smart, strong, and handy. In sum: The nicest, best and most friendly movers I have ever used and I have moved at least a dozen times in the last 15 years. I was dealing with a very difficult tenant that was an extreme horder and had to be evicted from the unit. Jorge, who I believe is the owner, sent a couple of great guys and they were extremely professional and helpful. Dante especially was so nice and the place was a disaster. They patiently moved everything out and didn't complain once. It was such a pleasure to deal with them. Honestly, I couldn't bear to be in the apartment for over 10 minutes due to the smell and mess. The next day I had to travel out of town, but needed to use them to take the items to the dumpster. I miscalculated how much stuff was there (I was now doing this all remotely from Washington, DC) and they couldn't take all the stuff because the truck was too small. The blame lay with me, not them. Because I had to use another company that Jorge recommended, he took a large chuck of $$$ off his price which was already charged !!!! Who does that in this day and age ? It was unbelievable. After losing my mom after 63 years of marriage my dad made the difficult decision to sell his condo and move to be closer to me in Virginia Beach, VA. I called South Beach Movers to see if they can visit my dad and give him an estimate to make the long distance move. I dont know why I picked South Beach movers, other companies also had good review. But from the minute George the owner picked up the phone and spoke with me I knew he was the right person for this job. There are many qualified movers, but none that I have ever worked with that have the heart, sincerity, honesty and professionalism as George and his staff. I explained my dad's situation, he is alone and me and my sister would not be there to meet with him. George was exceptional...he urged us to get several estimates, promised me he would take good care of my dad and he did. After George met with my dad, my dad hired him and cancelled the other appointments. The move went seamlessly...they packed everything up the day or two before, arrived on time, packed everything and wrapped all his furniture exceptionally and arrived in Va.
