Hubby and I went for dinner early Saturday night, not busy...got sat after waiting for a couple of minutes, hostess said she'd bring us water, waited 10 minutes before we received water, ordered a drink, beer menu is misleading, makes it sound like they may have rotating craft beer on tap, nope all domestic...whatever. Another server brings out drinks, says he's taking over...ok...ordered our food...waited another 10 minutes, no big deal, someone else brought our food out, fine. I will say the food was good(4.5/5)...it would have been better if the frys/tots were hot...the server came back one time to check on us, after that we never saw him again. After we finished, we waited another 10 minutes for someone to check on us so we could pay the bill...nevertheless I had to go inside to pay. I don't know if this was an off night, but the service was not up to par. Do I expect to be waited on hand and foot? No...but we really didn't receive service...probably won't be back. Let me say Kelly is such an asset to this restaurant! He greeted us and took such stellar care of me and my family from out of town today. He gave the kind of service you don't often get in our area! Made our 1st visit special and because of him alone, we will be back! Please give Kelly his praise because he deserves it! Second the food was not spectacular but it was good. I ordered a medium olive burger and it was cooked well. I didn't complain because the service was just that fantastic!! I live about a mile away and I will def be back. The outdoor seating area in front and back was really unique too! Great set up! It was raining but warm so the covered seating was a great option. Live music too! Great addition to our area. Our experience was mixed. We received a coupon for a free tot appetizer after buying tickets for the South Bend Chocolate Factory Tour. Thankfully, our server offered to do cheese curds instead, and they were amazing. But that's as good as the food got. The burger we ordered was forgettable, and the "croque" was practically inedible. It had that weird plasticy questo-like cheese with maybe pepperjack in it, poured all over. It also took FOREVER for our food to come out. And it was maybe 1/4 full, even considering the patio. Not sure what happens when they are really slammed. Tables are long and communal with a little board separating different parties. There are some high tops scattered about. Our experience was top notch! We went to the dinosaur museum next door first and stumbled upon this after. We had burgers/fries and the tots appetizer. The buns for the burger were the best I've ever had. The burgers were juicy and full of flavor. The waitstaff was incredible. If it was warmer I would have ended up outside, which was so pretty!! read more

Clean and welcoming environment. Our host opened the door for us on our way in. Our server was amazing. Very kind and informative. Attentive without being overbearing. The cheese curds were to die for! Not too heavy. I got the spicy Benny burger. Oh my gosh. So good. Tasted like it was cooked right over a fire. Perfectly seasoned. Perfectly cooked. The fries were also well seasoned. They were nice and crisp on the outside, while soft on the inside. I couldn't finish everything, and I was super bummed because we wouldn't be home till 4-5 hours later. There wasn't a way to keep the leftovers safe to eat by then. It's next to the chocolate factory so we got complimentary mint flavored chocolates at the end of the meal. Very highly recommend this place. I just don't get it. I had a great experience at the Howard Park public house. Came here on a Saturday afternoon after the Dino museum. They weren't busy, but it appeared they only had one cook working and maybe two waitresses? I get it, it's summer and not football season but this area is busy during the summer time. It took forever to get waters. Waitress asked about drinks, got my dad's order then immediately left the table without asking my mom and I what we wanted. Service was over all very slow and I think it took over an hour to get our food. We all ordered our burgers medium but they looked rare or medium rare. I'm pretty sure the Mac and cheese they have on the kids menu is just Kraft from a box. It took forever to get our check, I had to get up and ask for it. The burger was nothing to write home about. A good restaurant sees little kids and brings their food out first. I don't understand how it took an hour for two burgers and two small bowls of Mac n cheese. Later on, I vomited and my daughter had an upset stomach. Next time we won't waste our time. Honestly just grab a sandwich at the chocolate factory. Also, there were no booster seats and no high chairs. If there were they were hidden somewhere and no one asked if we needed one. If this place just wants to be a 21 and over bar, then just be a bar. We can't say enough about our experience at this restaurant. This is our 3rd time here and we have yet to find anything we didn't like. The food is amazing and the service is even better. First we were met by the host Luke at the door and he suggested the outdoor patio, which was the best suggestion as we had been wanting to sit outside. If I lived closer I'd be there every night. Family was driving through town, and we don't like stopping at chains on trips. Much more fun to try cool places. Driving through from Michigan back to Fort Wayne Indiana and found this gem! Service, food and atmosphere were all on point with room to spare! Had the Bene...this chef made a phenomenal jalapeño hollandaise that complimented the dish perfectly, and even came out to check on how the food was. Love the decor and seating as well. Food does taste good but overpriced for what you get. The Philly isn't a Philly just meat and cheese. Service absolutely is awful. Third time I've been to South Bend public house and every time the place is immaculate. The servers are so so kind and the food and drinks are great. I slapped a couple pictures of some of their upside down burgers. Taste is really good and the burgers are cook to order. I ordered my olive burger as medium. Cooked perfectly. read more

We have frequented this restaurant several times over the last couple of years. My wife and I took our teenage grandson to lunch. He ordered the Santa Fe Hamburger with, what else, French fries. We ordered the soup and salad. Everything was excellent including the service and the presentation. The upside down hamburger with the "branded" bun was huge overflowing with the sauce that made it a Santa Fe burger and the French fries were also overflowing the plate. Of course he made short work of it. Our half salad and cup of soup was likewise delicious and plentiful. I had the cob salad beautifully arranged around the outer edge of the plate with the cup of broccoli soup in the center. The salad came with balsamic dressing. Very tasty. The outdoor patio was very pleasant. Since this restaurant is located in Howard Park, the ambiance and surroundings were wonderful. Parking was no problem. If you are so inclined, you can join the kids in the splash pad or go for a walk along the St. Joseph River after your meal. read more
