I like South Block. With that said, I think the machine needs to be oiled a little more here. I believe we waited way to long for our bowls when there wasn't a lot of people waiting. The bowl was great. The ordering process was also a little slow, the guys was new so he unsure how to handle discounts. Came here at the recommendation of a colleague and really jazzed that I did. Their acai bowls are solid, consistently well made. I usually order and pick up at the same time and there's not much of a wait (around lunchtime ish). They've got a couple of tables for outdoor seating as well as a few inside. South Block used to be one of my favorite places. It's gone downhill, from the employees who ignore you when you come in (doesn't help that you order on a screen), the long wait to get a bowl even when you're the only one in the store, and to the mediocre taste of the bowls (which seem to be more expensive than 6 months ago). Employees always seem to be either chatting with each other or standing in the back on their phones. Ive seen people come in and be confused with the online ordering screen and literally not one employee walks over to help. When the order is ready, they call out a name and walk away. Non-inclusive. I have a severe nut allergy, so I can't drink any of the smoothies on the menu since they are all served with Almond milk. When I asked if they could substitute the almond milk with 2% milk, I was told that my only options were pineapple juice or water. I tried SB for the first time today and experienced an immediate allergic reaction to their house cashew milk. I'm not allergic to pure cashew milk but it was not clear that the SB cashew milk contains other ingredients like dates and cinnamon. I urge management to post clear signs in all locations warning people of the ingredients in their cashew milk. read more
