I love their products! Strictly cash and carry. Products are frozen but they are great and reasonable!

Most places I find are found by Social Media or Word of Mouth. This place was word of mouth. My…read moresister was doing my hair and said we should get some seafood from this place that Mama has been to. Seafood is life so I said absolutely. Once we were done we headed over there. When we went in there isn't anywhere to really sit and when you walk in you wouldn't think greatness come from there but boy was I wrong. We ordered and we were told it would be about 20-30mins. So while we waited to went to a few other stores. The gentleman at the counter was very nice and friendly I was confused on what flavor I should get and I asked could I do 3 flavors and he told me what ever I want. I ordered the 1lb crab and 1/2 lb shrimp with Lemon Pepper, Old Bay and Cajun. When we received the food we checked it and it smelled so good and I didn't know it came with Corn, Potatoes and Broccoli. Once I made it home my food was warm at no fault to them just I had a few errands to run before making it home. Even being warm it was still amazing. My favorite part was the Broccoli. I could have a whole pan of that alone. But EVERYTHING was amazing. Price Point was average for Seafood and you already I want to try something new or different the next time I go because I will be back.

My original review seems to have disappeared - perhaps it was dropped my Yelp's algorithms?…read more Anyway, my Bride and I visited Rainbow Beach in August 2025, and left the beach hungry. Yelp steered us here, to Crab Island. Let's be frank - this place will win no "Chic and Hip" awards. It's pretty depressing, in a skanky corner of the local "hood". Step inside to escape the local diaspora, and things get not much better - it's glum and depressing, with no (ZERO!) on site dining space, and the kitchen / counter is armored and segregated from the public area by what I presumed to be bullet and bazooka-proof glass. That should summarize the neighborhood. It's SKETCHY! But the attendant / cashier was pleasant and helpful, advising us that our food would be 15-20 minutes in the making. Since we had parked right in front, we decided to wait inside. I watched the truck from behind the glass, fearful of losing all four wheels and the engine. The neighborhood is *that* welcoming. My Bride and I made plans as to where to go, to sup safely. We decided to return to Rainbow Beach, and just eat in the car. When the food was ready, we grabbed the bags, and scurried-off to someplace we should be, given the fact that I don't carry. Back at Rainbow Beach we opened the bags. Golly!! The food was DELIGHTFUL! STEAMING HOT, and tasty as all get-out! They had included everything we needed for a beachy feast, and feast we did, on FRESH seafood and immense portions. It was *wonderful*. If Crab Island had a safe dining area and a safe place to park, we'd be regulars. Instead, we'll visit when we can - meaning "beach season". Sorry we can't support you in wintertime. Bur really, the food is simply delightful. I can forgive all of the other factors, when the good is so fresh and so hot . Regarding the hood: I guess that's okay - just be careful. I'm a steppin' razor, don't you watch my size, I'm dangerous.

I made sure to get a half pound of each of their Crown Jewels- the smoked salmon and the smoked shrimp. I also tacked on a small side of fries with some ketchup and hot sauce. While the shrimp was fairly solid and certainly had the subtle smoky flavor present, it didn't blow me away quite like the salmon did. That was that the best smoked salmon I've ever had in my life, I just couldn't get enough of it. No idea how they possibly pack so much flavor into every single bite, but I left nothing behind. I can still smell the smoky savory flavor, and will certainly be getting the salmon every time I come back. The piping hot fries were delicious as well, especially after plopping down my meal on a bench outside in the 20 degree weather to scarf everything down at once. Service was great as well- had some questions about what was offered and they were happy to answer everything and make recommendations. Would go back for sure.

It was raining on the way there but that didn't stop us. Parking on the street is limited but they do have a lot that you can park in. The crowd was a steady flow of people. It's pretty small on the inside. It looks like a small fish monger/ butcher style type of place. Smokes fish on one side, fried seafood on the side. You order your fried food first then you can order the smoked fish. The young men were very nice and friendly. They move the crowd pretty quickly. We were there about 15 minutes tops!! We ordered a full order of fried shrimp, half order of fried smelts, 1 lb of pepper/ garlic smoked salmon & a half lb of smoked sturgeon. The fried shrimp were fresh and delicious. I've had better fried shrimp in the city but these were definitely delicious. Seasoned, Flavorful crunchy coating, sweet mild shrimp an easy 8.7/10. The fried smelts were also fresh tasting, flaky inside, seasoned crust on the outside. Fried perfectly!! We really enjoyed them. 9/10! I wish I had gotten tartar sauce for them instead of hot sauce. The Pepper/ garlic smoked salmon was also top tier! Served cold like revenge it was wasn't over smoked but the perfect amount of smoke. A slice of lemon would definitely take it up further! You traditionally eat it with saltine crackers (we brought our on. They charge $1.09 for a crackers) which makes it so much better. 9.4/10. Next time we'll bring a lemon which would make it a 10/10. The smoke sturgeon was fatty and mild. Nice and meaty with a slight sweetness almost the flavor of crab. A lemon slice would've been nice for this dish as well to help cut the richness of the fat & the smoke but it's still an easy 9.7/10. We enjoyed every bite of this meal! I spent $76 and some change for the meal. And told them to keep the $3 and change for their tip jar. Total $80 bucks well worth it! If you haven't been here make a trip on the southeast side of town and visit them. Calumet Fisheries is more closer to 4.8 stars Remember ALL reviews are SUBJECTIVE!

Pete's saved my daughter's graduation party!…read more I don't live in Chicago anymore. But most of my huge family still lives on the South Side. My daughter just graduated college, and we had the party planned for last Saturday. Long story short......my phone died while at the Cubs game on Friday. Woke up downtown on Saturday to a message that the place I had planned to cater from couldn't do it (nice....but that's for another review). I called Pete's. Becky in Customer Service couldn't have been more accommodating. This place is incredible - I really wish we had a Pete's in So Cal! Picked up all the food (even had fresh baked rolls right out of the oven). I had a lot of family asking where I catered from. I told them the story (and found out the place I was originally going to cater from has gone DOWNHILL in quality - so everything happens for a reason). All I can say is the food was INCREDIBLE. Mostaccioli with marinara sauce, sausage and peppers, Italian sliced beef, broasted chicken - amazing! I'm fairly certain Pete's has won my family's catering needs. At least I hope so!! Shout out again to Becky from Pete's in Customer Service who went out of her way to make this an incredible party!
