He's not the cheapest around, but provides good value and I could always get him to address any problems arising within a day, if not the same day. Very disappointed with our Spa Remodel by South County Pools. There were multiple issues. Water level tile was not installed straight on one side of the spa, there is a very noticeable swag in the tile. The company was told about it, the tile person was going to take a look but never came, and, didn't hear another word. Rather than fix a skimmer housing correctly before plaster it was left as is, they just patched with new plaster that extends above the pool water line which shouldn't be done. The company provided a skimmer plate for me to repair that did not fit. Paid $600 for "Start up water chemistry". One would think that over the 28 day start up period the chemistry would be right, it wasn't. Salt level too low so on the last day of start up South County Pools added a bag of salt and advised us to add another bag of salt a week later which created very high salt concentration, I had to drain 7" of water from the spa and refill. PH level was not right after 2 weeks, they said they added acid, it still wasn't right after 28 days. In short paid $600 to remove leaves from the spa. Very surprising that when the project was complete there was never a "thanks for the business". If you use this company stay on top of the work quality and have a clear understanding up front on what and how the job will be completed. read more

I have had South County Pools taking care of my pool for the last couple pf years and was pleased up until recently when the regular service guy put something on the stone walls of the pool to take care of some mold that was growing on the stone part of the pool. Shortly there after the stone turned white. I called many times and they kept saying they were taking care of it and just give it time. It has been over 3 months now and I finally was able to get the owner Shawn out to look at it and he said they would take care of it. They put some more products on it and the next day the stone that was affected never cleaned up and stone that did not have any problems before they applied the liquid has now turned the same color as the damaged stone. This morning the service man was here and when asked how they were going to fix this, he started laughing and said he wasn't going to be doing anything. He said he didn't cause the problem and started laughing even more. Extremely unprofessional. I told him it wasn't acceptable and we needed to get it resolved. He just kept laughing and completely ignored me until I told him to get off my property and never come back. I have made phone calls into the office to talk to Shawn and nobody ever answers the phones there. This has been an ongoing problem with these guys. They have horrible customer service. They never answer the phones and it can take a couple of days to hear back from them. Shawn the owner does not want to take responsibility for his works and the quality of work that they do. He could care less. Don't ever use these guys unless you want to always be chasing them. I am looking into legal actions against these guys for what they have done to my pool. If that is any indication of how hard it has been to get them to resolve my issues people should run from them. read more

We get consistently great service from Dillon who services our pool every week. We also want to recognize the outstanding service we got recently from Rebecca and Logan. During the torrential rains we experienced recently our pool was ready to overflow. We called South County Pool and explained our dilemma to Rebecca. She contacted Logan and Within an hour he came to the rescue. Logan was able to sump pump 5 inches of water out of our pool to handle the rest of the rain and keep our pool from overflowing. South County Pools resurfaced our pool with Pebbletec. Logan gave us a decent quote and was on site most of the time the work was being done. Old plaster was removed and clean up was thorough. My current pool service company, Poolwerx, has become very inconsistent with their service and doesn't return calls. After looking up possible new companies on Yelp, found South County and left them a voice mail on the weekend. Not thinking I'd get a call back until Monday, was surprised to receive a Sunday call back and a Monday appointment. I have just started with them but so far they have been, responsive, prompt, communicative and competitive for service and repairs. If this lasts I'll move them to 5 stars. read more

Today I had Scott come out to troubleshoot a timer/ power problem with my jacuzzi. He found the problem very quickly and rectified it. It was a simple problem left over from an SCE power issue that humbled my troubleshooting skills....he said don't worry about it, it happens. He did the work and didn't charge me because it didn't take but a few minutes. This is why I do business with local companies, they are good neighbors and help out because it's the right thing....not just how much money they can get. Best pool builder, ever! Sean and crew just finished my very tricky hillside, complex, small yard difficult build in Dana Point. It looks amazing!!!Throughout the process he was amazing, patient, and dealt with all the city requirements, which were many. 5ft lot lines, no problem! I think I may have the first pool in DP needing to have the equipment in the garage, in a small space. Sean patiently worked through every detail and engineering challenge with the city. Sean actually did all my landscaping as well. Beautiful stonework gates and wall. I am pretty detailed and he met every request I threw at him. I have built a pool before, but what Sean built was on a whole other level of quality and beauty. My co worker was also building a pool and her contractor didn't suggest any of the great features and ideas that Sean had. South County Pools for pool service I find to be subpar. After over 10 years of maintaining a pool I have never had a company charge me so much and make so many mistakes. The techs have little to no knowledge on the actual pool equipment itself. Several times I would find my spa empty with water and pebble tech exposed due to tech leaving the valves wrong. One evening I was taking my trash out and I heard water running. The tech had left a faucet running at pool equipment and water was running like crazy at a high GPM. I met with Sean, he went over the whole pool area, and all the equipment, (this is my first house with a pool so I had no idea) gave me a detailed report on everything he found. Sean replaced nearly an entire pool mechanical system for me. New concrete pad, pump, filter, valves and new plumbing for my dated pool. He worked with me on installing equipment I purchased from a wholesaler. Not every firm is willing to do this as it takes away from their profit margin and that say a lot about Sean's business ethos. Sean and his crew showed up on time, and were and friendly. Sean's prices are fair. Sean shows responsibility to insure his crew and subs keep the job site clean and the project is on track. Sean kept me up to date on all the procedures and project timeline. I sent email to SCP to get a quote for fixing/changing airflow switch to the spa.
