Fighting traffic in Charlotte is bad enough, then when you arrive to get your car inspected at 4:40 and the establishment closes at 5 PM, you would expect there is plenty of time. I pull up and someone walks out of the door to tell me that I can't get an inspection. I reiterated to him that it was 4:40, that he had 20 more minutes. It was a no go. So my interpretation of the denial is bad management, lazy, employees, and/or I'm confident that the owner of the building and the business is not paying overtime or may not know that his employers are closing the doors at 4:40. I used to go to this business religiously years ago. I'm having a feeling it's been sold from the original owners. So no I don't recommend this business, especially businesses that do not understand Customer Service is king. read more

Have been coming to this location ever since I got my first car (2011). Super convinient location on south end and VERY QUICK AND RELIABLE! I have gone in the afternoon and during lunch times and have not been there for more than 20 minutes each time I go. The receptionist is always super friendly and efficient. If I ever have an issue and I wasn't aware of it, they always explain to me in detail, give me instructions on what I can or need to do, and are always polite and accommodating. They do charge $30 for inspections, but I do recommend bringing cash as they do charge and an extra $3 for the card processing fee. Make sure to bring your registration card inside as they will need that for inspection. The place is small but cozy. Parking is a bit small, but I never have an issue finding a spot. Overall, I definitely recommend this location. No hassle at all. read more

In & out in no time! I usually end up taking my car to a place early on a Saturday morning to beat the crowd, but I chanced it on South End Auto Inspections and went after work.... I got there around 5ish... and there was only one other person in front of me. It does help if you have a "newer" car... the inspection goes a lot quicker and it's less expensive. The think the break point year was 2016? Don't quote me on that. Other than having to wait to get my registration and keys to the inspector (since I was behind one other person), it was really a super quick stop and I was able to go about my day afterwards. The staffer that inspected the car was friendly and thorough. Also explained that the inspection results would be up instantaneously so if you were tight on time for renewal, you could do it the same day. I had plenty of cushion, but I still paid my renewal that evening so I didn't have to think about it anymore. The location is super convenient to SouthEnd on South Blvd. I can see where traffic during rush hour can make it tricky to make a left turn out of the lot, but just circle around Atherton/Euclid and you can come out the "back" on Ideal Way and get a left turn light from there. The waiting room is pretty typical, but honestly, you hardly spend much time in there because they are so fast! There is a TV and chairs, but don't get too comfortable here... you will be in and out in no time. read more

This place deserves a gold star! I can't even begin to state how amazing they were. My car needed 3 new tires to pass inspection (which I knew) so the guy sent me down the road to a great place to get those. Made it back at around 5:50pm even though they closed at 6pm. They still took the car and fully inspected it even though they were closing up! They are very knowledgeable people, with uttermost honesty. As a female you can easily feel jerked around with cars if you don't know much, which is very true! These guys didn't make me feel that way, they broke everything down and make sure I understood. After my tires it passed right away! I am so thankful for the honesty and quick service! These guys are great! I'd highly recommend going to them! read more

Poor business ethics!!!! Positive - they performed the service I asked for. Negative- their level of integrity and ethics are questionable. Make sure YOU KNOW about state laws/rules BEFORE you go, because they don't bother to assist or look out for their customers. As a new resident they knew (mgr admitted) I didn't need an inspection, but they let me get both of my cars inspected anyway. After I went to the DMV to register my cars they advised me I didn't need inspections the first year. So I went back to SE Auto Inspections to discuss and possibly get my $ back. When I asked why he charged me when they knew I didn't need it done, he replied "you asked for an inspection and that's what we did". They performed a service despite knowing I didn't need one. They charged me $70 for both cars and they could have done the right thing and told me I didn't need it done. He then went on about not being able to speak for everyone who works their and the knowledge level on this topic. He feels he has no responsibility to educate his staff and went back to performing the service I regulated. Long story short, I'm out $70 BUT to satisfy my frustration I was offered a $3 off coupon for next time. Lol!!! As if I'd ever come back. read more

I recently brought my Ford F-150 into their shop. The shift tube had come loose and truck would not stay in park once the ignition key was turned, thus making you having to crank the engine in neutral. Their mechanic, Brian Jones, was able to repair the shift tube enough to allow a start in the park position and told me how to do a permanent repair. He did his repair and offered the advise at no cost. I was able to the permanent myself with little effort and time thanks to his instruction. Brian is a great example of the customer service we are so lacking today. He was pleasant and professional and took the time to help a customer in need. This shop will receive high praise from me for looking after the customer. read more

Swung into this place to get my inspection so that I could get my tags updated before we headed out of town the next morning to the beach and didn't want to stress the whole way about my tags being out. I was the first person there for the day right when they opened but people were filing in behind me. I walked in and the guy behind the counter greeted me warmly and took my keys and said it would be about 10 mins. I thought to myself no freakin way its only going to be 10 mins it never is the place I normally go to off south always says that and an hour later a blood sample and your first born might maybe get you out in an hour or so. BUT low and behold as promised my car breezed out of the garage and they called my name. I thought maybe I didn't pass since it was over so quick! Nope my old Bessie passed with flying colors and I was checked out and on my way. I am more than impressed with this place and come next year this will be my go to for my next inspection as well as for my guys car too. No one likes the hassle of getting these car exams done but the quickest, friendliest experience I've had is here. I was done in less than 15 minutes. The waiting room isn't dolled up but it has running AC in the summer; it's clean; and it has a flat panel TV - done.
