Pork Lo Mein, Pork Short Ribs w.Minced Garlic, Roast Pork Buns and Pork Soup Dumpling

Really great dim sum place. The pork lo mein and short ribs are so good and highly recommend. Love to order from this restaurant. Usually use uber eats to order but if you can, it is much cheaper to order in person.

(Overall: 73% | C) - Overall, the food had pretty high variance in terms of what's good or bad. The service was also pretty lacking and the server had a pretty bad attitude. (Bean Curd Roll: 62.5% | D) - Despite the correctness of ingredients and flavors, this dish just does not come together. The proportion of filling is off and the bamboo shoot is too old making the entire dish distasteful. (Phoenix Claws: 90% | A) - The chicken feet is very well flavored and the bones are well prepared. This is goood overall. (Wonton Noodle Soup: 97.5% | A) - This dish was very well rounded for only $10. The pairing of choy sum, wonton, and a sprinkle of fried onion was nice and flavorful. The noodles are springy and the soup is well salted and flavorful. (Lotus Sticky Rice: 17.5% | F) - Unfortunately, this dish has zero substance besides rice and white pepper that completely overpowers the dish. There was barely and meat or other filling and it was disappointing. IG: @amei.eats

    1. Pork Soup Dumplings. Yum!

Had my dim sum delivered at lightning speed. Best pork buns I've had in the east coast. Soup dumplings were mostly intact and great since this is the only soup dumplings I've found in the area. The dipping sauce was perfectly salty and sweet. The scallion pancakes we're overly crisp, but far better than the undercooked kind some places will serve. Egg drop soup was classic. The noodles and Lo mein was far better than most I've had outside of the city. The best bite were the egg custard tarts. These substantial bites were light, flaky, and gorgeous. Will order from here again!

Don't waste your money here. We went to the location and ordered several different types of dumplings to eat there. 2 orders of XLB, not a single dumpling stayed intact when we used chopsticks to pick them up. They had no soup spoons, gave us no sauce, didn't even have complimentary tap water. The rest of the dumplings same story, wrapper disintegrated and tore apart while trying to pick up from container. I eat dim sum probably once a week, and often times Uber eats it from various places, and even having dumplings delivered they remain intact. Not sure how this place screwed them up so badly when we ate there. To top it all off, they would not let my partner use their restroom. What dine in facility doesn't allow patrons to use their restroom? There are so many great dim sum places in the area, go elsewhere.

3.5 rounded up to 3. Ordered dim sum delivery over a weekend with HungryPanda app, which I'm sure helps with freshness as I would expect higher demand on the weekend. I thought the dim sum was really decent, solid variety. Had I not looked up what the place looked like inside, I would've had no idea that it was a fast food style joint vs a restaurant. - Highly recommend if you're looking for QUICK bite to satiate a dim sum craving and aren't on a budget. - Does it compare to higher end dim sum? No. - Is it expensive? YES, even for NJ standards. Aquarius in Fort Lee is probably the highest end dim sum in the area without crossing the river, and their prices are higher than Aquarius. E.g. South Lions shrimp dumpling $6.95 vs Aquarius $5.95. SL crispy sesame ball $5.95 vs Aquarius $3.75. Let's not even talk about the HungryPanda markup since I'm out of delivery range for the other options! Ordered: - Bean curd skin roll with pork and shrimp - Shrimp dumpling - Chicken feet with black bean sauce - Crispy sesame ball filling with lotus - Crispy dumpling with pork and shrimp - Pan fried radish cake - Shrimp stuffed in eggplant with oyster sauce - Shrimp stuffed in bean curd with oyster sauce - (Shanghai style) spring roll Everything was pretty good, standard dim sum fare (for someone who's grown up eating dim sum). I think the spring roll was less crispy than expected due to travel time, which is acceptable.

I am a fan! This place is definitely one of the better dim sum places I've had in NJ. Not many NJ dim sum places can compete with the good dim sum places in Chinatown, NY, but this place does just that! So I love that they're so close to where I live. We've ordered from this place twice now, both for take out as there are not many seating options. So it's more for take-out. The first time we ordered dim sum, including the house special shrimp siu mai, pan fried radish cake, pork soup dumplings, egg custard buns, pork short ribs with minced garlic, crispy taro dumplings with pork, chicken feet with black bean sauce, and a few others. None of them disappointed, and each of them I would order again! The next time we ordered from them, we ordered dinner but two dim sum dishes since they were available in the evening! We had their pork chop with Peking sauce, sliced beef chow fun (gravy), House Special Golden Fried Rice, Egg Drop Soup, egg custard buns, and pork siu mai. The staff is also very nice, which is also a huge plus. I only had to deduct one star because I feel that their pricing is very high. I don't doubt that the price of commercial rent is high, but for such small plates, the prices are higher than I'd like. Maybe because I'm used to paying the prices in Chinatown, which I'm sure is also not cheap. Even so, this place is very good and very close to where I live. So when I don't feel like paying the $15 toll for more affordable dim sum, I can certainly come here for equally good dim sum.

    How much grubhub charged me.

Food is good, fresh and portioned are good. I wish that fried rice dish would have little more veggies. 4 stars for this. But guys! don't order grubhub delivery - you pay double for the amount of food. The bill from restaurant including taxes was $20.74, but grubhub billed me $32 and I was stupid enough to add $3 tip to all this robbery. Wow! I'll never use delivery again, it just doesn't make sense.

Wanted to try a Chinese place as we were in the area and this looked like a new place Food was hot and fresh and ready for pickup fairly quick.. The dumplings were good and spring rolls were good too.. Their soy sauce tasted very good with the dumplings .. However disappointed in the mapo tofu and kung pao chicken - though these were fresh and hot , both these dishes were very bland without any seasoning .. I think the restaurant should try to do a better job for these more ordered dishes .. We might come back to the place and hoping there is an improvement to the taste for next time ..

This was far best dimsum place I ever came with. I lived long time in southern California, there's lots lots of Chinese restaurant that sells decent dimsums. But here, when I visited New York to meet with my boyfriend, I felt like I found a true jewel. Everything looked so good, tried most of their dimsum, condensed milk buns and egg tarts, they all were super delicious! My boy friend loved their food so much as well. I definitely will be visiting here more when I plan to travel for NY. Definitely became my top fav spots for the Hoboken journey. Reasonable pricing, LOVE their choice of music too! Such a calming, peaceful, meditating classic instrument background music made it sucha enjoyable visit.

Awesome spot. 1) I am glad a Hong Kong-style dim sum opened in Hoboken, NJ. 2) Glad I don't have to go to NYC for good dim sum. 3) The ambiance is great for a rainy day. If you want good food in a rainy day, you got you place. 4) Will be back.

Was excited to try them out for a dim sum lunch - sadly wasn't up to par! We tried the following - - Pork Soup Dumplings - the pork was stale, the broth wasn't plentiful enough and strangely sweet, as if to mask the stale taste of the pork! - Shrimp Dumplings - these were the best of the lot! Shrimp was fresh, the skin wasn't too thick - Pork Siu Mai - Super stale tasting pork!! Seemed to have been pre-made a few days ago and sitting out! - Sticky Rice with Mushroom wrapped in Lotus Leaf - these were the smallest rice wraps I have ever seen at a dim sum place. To be fair there were 2 of them in the order, but the mushroom filling was very stingily added and the entire thing was mostly sticky rice. Sadly we will not be returning. Has high hopes but I guess they don't get to air out their dim sum too much on a regular basis? Can't justify getting stale food at the prices that we were charged though - bill came to $46 for a meal for two which was served in plastic containers with plastic utensils!

I thought South Lions was dim sum only until I was browsing the menu one day because I had a Door Dash coupon. I was very surprised to find some classic Cantonese-style dishes I grew up eating. I ended up ordering the beef chow fun and some pork soup dumplings. The chow fun is pretty legit. The rice noodles are fresh and perfectly stir-fried. They also give an ample amount of tender sliced beef. The soup dumplings were only okay. I think the skin was a bit too thick. Food is pretty pricey overall - expect about a 30% mark up from a typical Chinese restaurant. But if you have a Cantonese food craving, and are willing to pay a premium for convenience, this might be a good option. I'll be trying their salt and pepper fried squid next time!

Ordered dinner here for a second time when I had another dim sum craving! I'm not aware of too many other dim sum spots in Hoboken so South Lions is my go-to. My favorite dim sum on the menu is the crispy taro dumplings. You get three to an order and they are stuffed with a savory sweet pork mixture. Super crispy and delicious. The pork buns are pretty standard and nothing special... and I wish there was more filling. The paper stuck to the bottom of the buns always rips some of the dough when peeling off. The shrimp dumplings are just ok. 4 to an order and they have a nice shrimp filling. We also ordered the chicken and broccoli from the "American" menu and were disappointed. The broccoli was undercooked and the sauce was watery and bland. Definitely avoid and just stick to the dim sum here. Overall, this place will do in the event you are having a dim sum craving. Tip: order directly from the store. The prices are elevated on DoorDash and Uber eats to $2-4$ more per item.

We ordered both the standard pork XLB and my faves, the pork and crab ones, as well as pan fried pork dumplings which I was surprised to discover were also full of soup, chicken corn dumplings, and two noodle dishes: rice cake with pork & mustard greens, and pan fried noodles with beef. Servers were conscientious about allergies and very specific about letting us know which items were which, but other than that were largely appropriately hands off. They did ask us, mid-meal, if it would be ok if a service dog were at the next table to ours, which I thought was courteous. (The service dog was adorable and well behaved.)
