Sat at the bar last night, had a fantastic meal and some delish beverages! First we ordered Not Wings, fried cauliflower - So Good! We ordered ours with dry rub and sauce on the side (Buffalo & Sweet Chili). We then ordered a burger with BACON JAM & dill havarti cheese- Wow, great flavors. Really good fries too. We also had some great beverages- a nice Rosé Dry Cider! And a killer Cadillac Margarita, they make their own mixer. Happily finishing our meal we said "Isn't it fun to be hungry!" I went in for a soft opening event yesterday and gave their brunch a try as well as a couple of apps like the Philly Egg roll. First off the space is looks amazing, they did an awesome job of cleaning and updating the space but hanging on to some of the original South. Perry charm. The brunch was excellent, I had bites of the Blintz, Brunch Charcuterie (silver dollar pancakes with fruit) Tuscan Benedict, and the Classic Breakfast. The eggs were cooked perfect, portions were great, lots of flavor and a variety of items. The pics of the Benedict do not do it justice. The apps were awesome as well. We scarfed those down before I could get a pic. I am really excited to stop in with the kids after playin over at Grant Park! read more

Went on a Saturday at 5. Not busy yet so got a table right away. Service and atmosphere was good. Food was alright. Big complaint was what we ordered was way to salty and almost burnt like. I had high hopes for the food but was disappointed. Will try another time and see if maybe they were just having a off day. read more

What a wonderful lunch spot, eggrolls we're fantastic and a must have, pork belly was flavorful, pickled fries were spot on and the horseradish aïoli came with it was really good, cauliflower was good but felt needed to be crispier or tampura battered. Overall a great lunch spot that I would go to again! read more

We came in during the first week of opening. We had been excited to try out the new place. We used to frequent the previous lantern often. However we were surprised that at 6pm on a Wednesday we were told they couldn't accommodate a table for 2 people because they had too many reservations. Reluctantly they let us sit at a bar table by the windows. We ordered drinks with intentions of ordering food. After waiting over 15 mins for mixed cocktails that were poorly made we chose not to stay for food. We asked our waitress for the ticket. After another 15 mins she never returned with the check. We left cash on the table and left. Unfortunately I would love to come back but highly unlikely we will return. read more

Lovely spot for casual dining with the family. The interior has retro fans and sells pull tabs - flashback! Dogs are allowed on the deck. I greatly enjoyed the charqutauri plate! The wings were huge and tender. Pro tip: the fries are always amazing. read more

Servers were friendly but pretty much non existent. Prices are much too high. We got our bill, put the card in, and waited 20 more minutes as our server walked back and forth, past us 9 times. Pulled the card out and left nearly exact cash. What a bummer. read more

The new layout isn't welcoming. It feels both sterile and crowded at the same time. Say what you will about the old Lantern, people liked congregating there. Staff are very helpful and nice. Their strength is the tap beers. The liquor is spare and seems to just support mixing the $14 cocktails. The cocktails taste like the bartenders can make a cocktail from a recipe, but don't have a feel for it. And why a place that sells $14 cocktails would have those lame tear-off lottery tickets is beyond me. I expect them in shot and beer bars. My wife enjoyed her salmon salad. We had friends from out of town visit and order the ramen. I thought they were making a mistake since I wouldn't order ramen from anywhere but an asian restaurant that specialized in ramen but they really liked it so that was positive. The main problem is the same problem with the old Lantern. The ventilation is inadequate and I come out smelling like grease and food. It stops me from dropping in to watch a game. I sent an email to the owners about this and how I'd like to visit more, but they never responded. To me, not answering emails that contain constructive suggestions reflects negatively on owners. They can't bother to respond, I can't bother to give them my business. All in all, if they get it together, the Lantern has its place and should make good money. read more

My friends and I had brunch here last summer and it was delicious. Small menu, but great options and everyone of the items we ordered was good. Would recommend for weekend breakfast or brunch for sure. read more

This restaurant was so good! I went with some of my family on a Monday for lunch. It was pretty busy but we didn't have to wait. Our service was good and our server was very nice. The restaurant has been newly renovated and looks very nice! Our dishes came out quickly and presentation was nice! We loved the philly egg rolls! The fish and chips were AMAZING! The best dish we purchased today! We were also impressed with the kid's cheeseburger (sorry not pictured!) and will probably order an adult burger next time! The bulgogi lettuce wraps were ok. I thought the sauce was a little too sweet and that it tasted better without the sauce. The chicken tartine was not very good (also not pictured), would not order again. Will return! read more

I love the lantern! Definitely my go-to spot in the Perry district for dinner or a drink! Love the patio and all the servers are really chatty and friendly as well. I wish there were more spots like it nearby! read more

This place has none of the charm that the original lantern had. The food is not as good and more expensive, the tap list is bigger but not as good. The place has been cleaned up but is disappointing overall but at least they have pull tabs now. read more

I don't think this place will be around much longer and I expect the health department will shut them down. Extremely slow service. It took over 20 minutes to get drinks. The bruschetta appetizer looked disgusting; dry toast on one side of the plate and three rows of slimy looking toppings on the other that I would not touch for fear of getting food poisoning.The silverware and dishes they brought us were filthy dirty. When called out on this they admitted that their dishwasher had broken and they were washing them by hand. We actually had plates brought to us that were wet and oily. I only recently joined Facebook at the request of my oldest granddaughter.I did not feel I was being mean or unfair, just giving my opinion.I was told tonight that everything I wrote had been deleted.Criticism is hard to take, but complete censorship? I'll say again what I said last night. As a long time neighborhood resident,I was sad to see the old Lantern close, but excited for the prospect of a new option.We were disappointed by the obvious lack of consideration for anyone with young children. Visited this restaurant for the first time last night with friends and the service was terrible. The host was kind and welcoming but our waitress was rude and honestly didn't even seem like she wanted us there. She got instantly irritated when we asked about purchasing a bottle of wine and then she disappeared for 15 minutes. When she came back we asked to order food and she said the kitchen was closed, despite us telling her when we first sat down that we were there for dinner. Instead of being apologetic she shrugged, looked annoyed, and said the only thing they could do for us was French fries. She in no way tried to accommodate us and then had the gall to give us attitude when we were just trying to eat dinner. I'm from our of town but my local friends said they would not come back here which is a shame because this new menu looked awesome. read more

Went late this afternoon, ordered drinks and some food. My hubby got a $16 cocktail which was mediocre at best. My beer was tepid, salad the same, with chicken breast which was nearly soggy on my salad. We will try again, as I know it's newly reopened in this location. read more
