    Cheesesteak sandwich.

We used to eat at the Lantern a few years ago when it was more rustic. They changed owners and remodeled and with that came a new menu that we weren't impressed with. So flash forward to now. We decided to give them a try. We sat outside because that's our favorite in the summer months. Our waitress came to take our drink orders- they have a decent beer on tap selection which is a priority for us. When she came back to take our order she was helpful and honest about the menu. Hubby went for the wings. He's something of a wings connoisseur and he was very happy with them when they came. He said they are one of his top of all our restaurants (which is saying a lot!). I went for the cheesesteak sandwich and a salad (the honey mustard dressing is house made and perfect in my opinion). It was as recommended very delicious loaded with cheesesteak filling on a soft hoagie bun. Another good mark for the Lantern is that their outdoor seating is mostly quiet and entertaining with the Perry District goings on that you can watch. We'll be back!

    Happy Hour Menu.

Service took forever. Food was good but we got full waiting for it. I would try it again. Maybe just an off day. The happy Hour was enough to feed the family. It was good but waited awhile for it.

    Lipstick stain on "new" glass

Wait was not bad for a busy Friday night. Our waiter was handling a whole section alone so we understood it would be a min to get our orders in. They dropped off some waters and we realized that one of the cups had someone's previous lipstick stain. We asked if we could get a new glass. We got our fun drinks for the night but no new glass ( not a big deal). Waiter came back and saw my empty fun drink next to my water cup and the other lipstick stained cup. They asked if we would like new glasses and took all three glass and returned with 2 waters. To our surprise , they brought us back the same lipstick stained glass ...

Tonight I had the opportunity to try South Perry Lantern for Inlander Restaurant Week. My friend and I had originally planned on arriving at 6PM, but I had heard earlier would probably be better. Well, I think everyone heard the same thing. My friend and I arrived at about 5:40 and there was at least a 15 minute wait for a table or we could sit at the bar or along the windows. We opted to wait for a table. By 6:30, there were several open tables. Since I and my friend had already checked out the Restaurant Week menu, ordering was quick and easy. We started with one of their featured cocktails. My friend chose their Perry Old Fashioned, made with Four Roses Bourbon and I went with their Espresso Martini, made with Browne Family Andy's Farm Vodka, caramel simple syrup, house-brewed cold brew and served in a frosted martini glass. Both were made well. For appetizers and entrees, we ordered the same thing. Ahi Poke Nachos and Pork Belly and Scallops. We enjoyed the appetizer. We've both had poke before, but to have it on crispy wonton chips was a great twist. The poke had great flavor and the sauces were tasty. The Pork Belly and Scallop entree was phenomenal! The flavors worked so well together and the scallops were absolutely perfect. I truly think they should add this dish to their every day menu. For desserts, I went with the chocolate covered bacon. It was served with a perfect raspberry compote. I had it boxed up to bring home, and I got to talking and ended up leaving it on the table. I was quite sad when I realized I wouldn't have that tasty dessert for tomorrow. My friend went with their fresh, made in house, apple fritter with vanilla ice cream. She said it tasted really good. The space is nice. I really enjoyed my visit and look forward to coming back when Restaurant Week is over.

The service was great and the food tasted excellent. It came out pretty quickly! Nice patio as well outside.

Wisconsin style fried cheese curds...ask for Ranch. If you don't know now, ya know.

I needed a snack before grocery shopping. I picked South Perry Lantern and was happy with my choice. I moved here from Wisconsin, and the cheese curds I had at Wisconsin Burger were disappointing. The ones here were yummy and the perfect snack. I had to ask for Ranch, and they were happy to sub out their marinara. Score. I also got the "house bubbles," and I was thrilled by my $6 glass of bliss. It tasted like a Prosecco, but it was so crisp and refreshing I didn't bother to ask. I sat outside on their lovely patio. The mural on the wall was warm and inviting, plus the patio is on the side of the restaurant, so it is not filled with traffic. Perfect

There were people drinking wine while playing games and enjoying fresh baked goods. I had a turkey sandwich on fresh bread with a delicious slaw and avocado. My brother had a ham and cheese on a croissant. The food was delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. It was a lovely place to hang out during a medical procedure. It is definitely walkable from cancer care northwest, which is a bonus.

The Grain Shed does a farm to table model and is a bakery and brewery. I got a snack here along with a beer and left quite satisfied. I got a Grilled Cheese Sandwich on some of their house made bread with some Cheddar, Swiss and Provolone cheese. The exact name for this sandwich is the Cheesy Toastie. And of course moving on to the beer... the primary motivator to come here. I got the Kölsch beer here called Field Trip. I do love a good Kölsch as they are nice, light bodied beers. And they are especially nice in the summertime. Flavor features in this beer is maltiness, breadiness, a bit of hoppiness and a dry finish. Another beer that Steve and I tried was the INWPA which was a Pale Ale. It was also a nice light bodied beer which again hit the spot despite it being a different drinking session. Flavor characteristics in this beer is citrus, a yeastiness, hoppiness and a biscuity trait. Good beers and sandwiches and we are aiming for a return whenever we are in Spokane again.
