There are a lot of mixed reviews on here about the food. My experience was good. The food tasted fresh with plenty of meat and cheese and was served in literally under five minutes. There is also a common pattern in the reviews about the manager. The short time I was there I did hear him bark at the staff in almost a demeaning way. I think if/when most managers discover the management skill of empowerment, it makes everyone more enjoyable and efficient. A quick read of The One Minute Manager would serve most well. read more

I only gave them one star because zero was not an option. This was the worse cheese steak I have ever had. The meat was subpar, the roll tasted like it was frozen and then thrawed out. The roll was falling apart. The customer service was equally as bad. The person at the counter had a bad attitude and could have cared less. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Disgusting! There's only one person who works there and I'm assuming it's the owner. He's too cheap to hire anyone else so he runs the store all alone. He's the cashier and the chef. He doesn't even wash his hands in between transactions so he's handling the cash, register, phone, other people's garbage from eating. Everything! At least wear gloves. Came here to pick up an employee from work to find how completely disrespectful the staff "leads" were towards fellow employees. Not only was Alexis disrespectful but outside of the store yelling at another employee acting as his superior and nothing less. This one is good! My husband and I went to this location on 06/12/18, ordered ahead and was given a time to pick up and then waited 20 more minutes.... but that's not the issue here. I had a 20% off coupon that expired the day before and I asked if they would still honor it. I didn't just get a no, I got this guy in the back creating major drama over me asking as he stated "EXPIRED IS EXPIRED and then carried on and on"... I told the lady at the register that there was no need for that employee to talk like that about a customer, and she stated his name is Bill and then I seen the business card and he IS THE OWNER!! Complete shock that an owner would bark at his customers, not to mention how poorly he treated his staff. When I said something, he said "I have a bunch of new kids back there and it's stressful" WOW!!! Ok, treat these young kids, probably their first job and YOU, the OWNER wants to treat and talk to them the way you do! SHAME ON YOU! You discuss me and my family will surly avoid this idiot! I went this establishment for the third time today, reluctantly, because of my desire for a cheesesteak and once again was disappointed. The experience today wasn't a disappointment like my previous experience of obnoxiously long delivery time, overpriced sub par mediocrity, or general lack of concern for the customer. Today I stepped in for a take out order which took over a half hour to get in my hand and the cheesesteak was cold and the fries were old. I spent $12 on what immediately went in the trash and went to the grocery store to prepare my own meal. Can I give them a negative? We ordered food, paid $25 for two subs and an appetizer and they placed my order wrong! The girl repeated it 3 times to me and when we got home with our takeout they still got it wrong. The half wit manager told me that she didn't believe me because her cook has been there for a long time and he said there were no onions in it when clearly you can see the onions when you open the sandwich. read more

Bill Haymore, is the owner of this place. It's a dirty place with old dust and trash always on the floor. I gave this place a chance 3 times. I know it's hard to run a business. However, I asked to have my sandwich remade as it was incorrectly made. No big deal right? I was wrong. I was treated like I made the mistake myself. I did not get what I ordered. It's not cheap to eat here so I asked after he rudely threw my sandwich in thrash for my money back. He asked me to leave and not come back in if I was going to complain about my sandwich. Went in and place an order to go. We got our food home started to eat noticed something wasn't right. Neither Philly had cheese. I called and complied I was willing to drive back (it is a 15 min drive) for them to replace the sandwiches and make it right. That was not an option I was told I would be given a discount next time I come in. We throw our food away (about $23) we wanted a Philly CHEESE steak not a steak sandwich. Small mushroom with pepper jack and a soda was ~8. Bread is soft and fresh, and they have been voted best sandwich by the Metro North CoC 6 times. My boyfriend and I placed a delivery order from here. It took almost an hour to receive the food and most of it was cold. We only live like two minutes away. My boyfriend ordered the Turkey Philly, which is supposed to include lettuce and tomato but it wasn't included when we got the order. He also ordered the fries and they were subpar at best, and very bland. I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich and the cheese had already hardened up. I had to pop it in the microwave. It wasn't horrible. I also ordered the Works sandwich for lunch the next day. I took a bite out of it and it was kind of bland, but edible. Their jalapeno poppers were the best tasting item of our order. We almost gave this place two stars, but we had to deduct a star because of how incredibly overpriced everything was. Tried this for the first time Sunday, and it was not special the food was not a cheesesteak that you would expect. The employees didn't seem like they cared or even like the food themselves. I don't often write negative reviews, but wow. Ordered delivery and the time was reasonable, driver fine. But the food is absolutely horrible. I am embarrassed for the owners because I am sure they could do much better. Sandwiches have not even half the meat other sub shops use; Fries were over done, flavorless and cold; Wings rubbery and seemingly undercooked. I wouldn't be happy spending $15 on this "meal," so the $35 (with delivery tip) is outrageous for this severely lacking quality. We typically give a restaurant at least one more chance after a bad experience, but there is no way South Philly will be tried again here. So disappointed. read more

Yum! My husband and I went here, my husband got "the chubby" and I got the mushroom cheese steak and we couldn't have eaten them faster! So delicious! I even got mine without cheese and it was still very delicious! The fries are thin cut and were perfectly cooked, not soggy at all, and not too crunchy. Have had delivered to me many times and always enjoyed until last night. I ordered a sub only for them to deliver the wrong type. My husband wanted South Philly for his birthday, but we didn't get there until 5 minutes before close! Luckily they were kind enough to make us a to-go order, dirty their just cleaned stoves, and make us an original cheesesteak. Then, one other guy came in at 9:00, and they gladly served him saying, "oh don't worry about it! I just made them an order, too". A+ on customer service. As for the food, it's really good.
