I'm not sure what @E.S. is talking about. The office is open for people to go in. They have a very clear sign out front specifically saying that. However they do want you to call when you get there so they can make sure a room is available; this is so that your pet doesn't have the ability to interact with another owner's pet. This also makes it so much easier for the owner and keeps your pet safe from anything contagious. Also they do this to keep the homeless out of the office. read more

I realize I already have a review up for this vet, but I wanted to share just how amazing Dr Patty is. I have been taking my dogs here for years now, and absolutely love this entire office. They all genuinely care about the pets coming in, and are personal enough to remember details of them. My 15 year old Mia just passed away this week, and it was heart breaking for me. I had told the office I needed to drop her off for cremation, and about 30 minutes later, Dr Patty herself called to personally send her condolences. I would bring this pup in about every other month for allergy shots, and the team would love to ask how her potato levels are, as they all knew she stole potatoes from a neighbors garden. Thank you, Dr Patty and the whole team, for being so kind to my Mia, and to me during this time. I don't care how many vets I drive past from Mesa to go to your office, you will always be the go to for my pets. We stopped going to this clinic because during covid they took our cat inside without us. We had to wait in the car. That seemed to be ok, but we heard they were still doing that after the covid scare was over. We didn't feel comfortable doing that any more so we changed vets. There are a lot of vets in Tempe. We have been to at least 5. The Scottsdale vet wins so far. read more

Prior to Covid, I brought my senior cat here and was very pleased with the caring service we received. Since Covid, they no longer allow you to accompany your pet inside for the exam. When I brought my new rescue in to be tested for feline leukemia, they vaccinated him without my permission. Unfortunately, he had just received the vaccine six days previous. The record was in the file o gave them but they did not even bother to look through it. My 12 week old kitten almost died from it. I ended up in the emergency vet with a limp, lifeless cat. Thankfully, he recovered from that but continues to have issues due to the vaccine injury she caused. Her self righteous attitude and lack of remorse was beyond infuriating. I wouldn't recommend this vet. read more

Rude. Condescending owner. I called about teeth cleaning and before I could get my question out about a cleaning without anesthesia for an older dog, a rude lady on the phone flew off the handle about them only doing teeth cleanings under anesthesia for $500 but they're booked for 3 weeks. Again, I tried to ask my question about cleaning without anesthesia before i was left on hold and the rude woman never came back to the phone. I went in person to ask questions and another front desk person scheduled an appt for a teeth exam. The owner of the place called the next day to tell me my business was not wanted and that she canceled my appt. A haughty, condescending woman who kept reminding me she was the owner. She never explained why she was canceling the appt. she said because it's her business and she could. Horrible business read more

I just realized This post is about 20 years past due. Of course Yelp wasn't around 20 years ago but Dr Patty was. She has cared for my boxers, mutts, kitties and whatever animal showed up in my life. She's not just a vet, she loves animals. She is genuine and passionate about her job. She'll tell you the truth even if it hurts. She'll stand right by your side when you have to say goodbye to a dearly loved pet. I currently have 3 dogs one of which is NOT cat friendly so the staff is always good about moving the cats when I am bringing "Vinny" in for a check. Recently got a puppy from a breeder who uses this clinic. Puppy came with a free exam so I called and made an appointment Upon arriving I was greeted by a clowder of cats (I had to google that!) which I suppose is fine but if you have an animal that doesn't like cats, be careful cause they roam free, including on the counter where their beds are. I needed to have a document signed required by the airline for the flight we were taking late that week (visiting from WA State) and brought it with me for the vet to review/fill out. Was taken to the exam room where they didn't weigh the puppy and told the vet would be in shortly. Dr. Patty, I now know, walked in, sat down, slammed the form on the exam table and said she wouldn't be signing it. She did not introduce herself, saw hello to me, or anything. I had to guess that she was the vet. She briefly examined the puppy, didn't look in his ears or check his gums, didn't weigh him, nothing! Then told me I would need to pay for a health certificate which should be good enough for the airlines (referencing the form I brought that she wouldn't sign). To specify, the form asked that she provide date of shots and her clinic/license info. SAME AS A HEALTH CERTIFICATE. I paid for the certificate cause I needed it. My guess is, since she knew I wasn't a return customer (being from out of state) and the exam was free (included with the puppy purchase from the breeder who uses Dr. Patty exclusively) she wanted to get SOME money out of me. Luckily the certificate was enough for the airlines. Dr. Patty was rude, graceless, tactless, didn't exam my puppy yet willing to charge me for a health certificate (how does she know he is healthy? No tests, barely an exam) and unprofessional. read more

Could Dr Patty be any better? She is by far, hands down, the best veterinarian in town. Even if we move, I think we will comeback to see her. She is truly caring, compassionate, professional, she just has it all. She is so humane that she rescues old dogs and cats and takes care of them in her house. She is a magnificent human being. Beware if you have a dog like mine that "HATES" cats be informed they let many cats roam freely around the clinic. I literally had to cover his eyes immediately or believe you me there would be "Hell unleashed and his name is Samson! Still can't get over this issue, what are they thinking? Take heed this is a liability management! We went for Samson's nail trim only to find that the groomer is located in the back through the "Gauntlet" of cats! The groomer was very nice and accommodating. Price was right and recommend her service. We would have come back and maybe consider relocating are vet services but will not risk an incident with my dog. Here's the kicker, I've owned and absolutely love cats. read more

I haven't been able to meet the doc yet due to Covid as my pups are newer clients and their policy is to wait in the car. But, everyone else I have met from the nurses to the receptionist have all been incredibly friendly and great at answering questions. They went above and beyond texting me lab results of my new adoptee during the holidays when they wouldn't be open. And it's fantastic because you can tell my doggos really like them as well. It's nice to have people you can trust when you cannot go in to the appointment with your fur children. read more

It happened again.... The second time in 2022! We had to put down another one of our K-9 family. This time it was our tiny toy poodle "Patty". Yes, she was named after Dr. Patty. Though it has been a few weeks, it is still heart wrenching to recall that day. Patty had suffered through the previous night with seizures about every two hours and seemed to be in great pain during them. Her mouth and nose being particularly sensitive to touch of even the most delicate kind. We arrived at the crack of the door in the morning and Dr. Patty was kind enough to see us immediately. Our Patty was 13-1/2 years old and we knew the inevitable would come, but not THIS soon! Dr. Patty and her staff are head and shoulders above any other veterinarian I have ever known. They are the absolute best and have been (and WILL BE) our only vet since the day Dr. O'beirn opened her practice over 30 years ago. I will be deeply saddened if/when Dr. Patricia O'beirn retires, for she cannot be replaced in the lives of pets and their owners. Certainly not in our lives and that of our remaining 2-year old toy poodle, Shy Anne. Dr. Patty is the best of the best! The greatest of the great!! Dr Patty deserves a 5 star. Great bedside manner, sympathetic and very informative. She made you feel very comfortable, did not rush the visit, informed me of my options and even told me that if my wife had any questions to call her. It's not often you get that kind of service from a clinic. The staff was very friendly and helpful. That took me exactly at my appointment time and Dr Patty saw my pet immediately. I drove from old Chandler to South Point Animal Clinic based on the YELP reviews and I was more than pleased with Dr Patty and her assistant. I was not bombarded with a sales pitch for products and services (looking at my old vet in Gilbert), the vet looked over my puppy and determined she needed pain pills and rest. Sure enough the next few days my pup was back to her regular self happy and bouncing about and the office called to make sure my dog is feeling better. The price was absolutely acceptable for an emergency appointment and meds (they already had the pills cut in half for correct dosage). I'm so happy I have a great vet that I trust. read more

The service was nice, fast, efficient. There are many cats running around (and when I say many, 5+ at least), so those with allergies will definitely be hurting. I'm slightly allergic to cats and I could just tell the dander was getting to me even in my brief visit. I recently got a miniature dachshund and I just needed to get his shots up to date and whatnot. It was a painless process, everyone was very friendly, and we left with a clean bill of health. I will however say the bill was a bit surprising. $200 for a first visit and usual puppy shots? Ouch. Assuming I don't have to come here often, I can suck up the price since the service was great. Otherwise, my doxie's checkups will need to go elsewhere. read more

Extremely positive experience. This is the first time I have ever brought a pet to a vet and wanted to return again. Otherwise I have picked one, not been satisfied and decided not to return, only to pick a different one the next time. We called to make an appointment and get information. We were given straightforward answers via phone in a friendly way. Made an appointment for 7:30 am. Arrived about 15 minutes early and the clinic was already open. Walked right in and had our dog weighed. No paperwork. Put in a room and were seen almost immediately. The Dr and staff were friendly, down to earth and helpful. We needed to schedule surgery for a cherry eye and weren't charged for our office visit. About 4 days later surgery day had arrived. Drop off was easy. Got a phone call after blood work. Got a phone call right after surgery. Were able to pick up our precious dog early. Cost for 2 cherry eyes (second one popped out once anesthesia was administered) was $370. Was given medication and lots of post care instructions. Was given the Dr's cell number is I had any questions or concerns. I can't recommend this clinic enough. read more

We have been going to Dr. Patty O'Beirn for about 10 years --ever since we moved out to Phoenix with our five year old Welsh Terrier. Since then, we have added two more dogs to the pack and Dr. Patty and staff love them all (but I think our first born is their favorite). We live in Laveen and don't find the 20-25 minute drive up Baseline Road inconvenient. Yes, our part of town has a few Veterinary clinics, but none with the experience of Dr. Patty. Plus, you get the sense from her that your pets ARE your children. She will take the time to really answer your questions. A couple of years ago, when our Welsh Terrier for starting to show signs of aging, she actually let me come in to talk to her about "end of life" care for an aging dog. She didn't charge me. She just counceled my husband and I on what to look for and things we should look out for. We love Dr. Patty O'Beirn and her wonderful and friendly staff. This office is amazing! I've been going for several years now. Most recently I had a dog that was old and sick. I took him in, not sure if he just needed some medication. They said it was time to put him down. I wasn't ready to do it then and there so Dr. Patty suggested a home service (Gentle Journey). She cried with me and didn't even charge me for the visit. I do have four dogs and end up going there a lot. Always greatful for compassionate service no matter what we need. read more
