After recently moving to the area, we brought our senior poodle mix to South River Veterinary for a teeth cleaning and tooth extraction. The vet and vet tech are not only experienced in what they do from a technical perspective, but they also demonstrated great care for the wellbeing of our pup and provided shining client service the entire time. We'd been told for a while by groomers and vets that our older pup likely would need one of his molars removed soon, so when we were in a financial place to take on the expense, we initially scheduled an appointment at Faith Veterinary Clinic, as it was closer to us. We had multiple bad experiences there within the space of only a couple of weeks (if you want the details, you can find that review in my history), and the situation became so worrisome, we decided we couldn't in good conscience proceed with the surgery at Faith Veterinary. Back at square one after dealing with Faith, I began the search for a new vet in our new area again. We were impressed with South River Veterinary from the first phone call to their office. The vet and vet tech were very gentle, friendly, and caring toward our senior pup, which was important to us when looking for a place to trust with his surgery. The vet tech even gave our pup a nickname immediately upon meeting him -- it's obvious they love animals here. When I dropped him off for surgery, I appreciated that the vet tech had me walk my pup back to the kennel room and lead him into the kennel, rather than taking him from me. I also appreciate that they had my boyfriend handle/hold our pup while he was on the exam table, to reduce the pup's anxiety. But maybe most of all, we very much appreciated their thoroughness and attention to detail when preparing us for what to do and what to expect for his surgery (a stark contrast to our experience at Faith). During the initial exam appointment, the vet explained to us exactly how to prepare our pup the night before surgery and what to expect afterward. Before we left the office, the vet tech went over these same instructions with us verbally twice more, and wrote them down for us as well. The afternoon prior to his surgery, the office called us to remind us of the pre-surgery protocols -- we were very impressed with how thorough they are with the important things. They did a great job with our older pup, and we will certainly be back soon with our younger dog, as she needs a teeth cleaning as well. read more

This office was great. Took me in on an emergency visit, when no one would make the time for my dog. The assistant was the sweetest and very easy going . My dog has always been apprehensive when he had to go to vet and never wanted to go in, I was so surprised how comfortable and calm he was with her and the doctor. Stay away from this vet. He's rude and does not take responsibility for what they tell you over the phone. I visited this Vet to receive my pregnant dog's Xray initially in Nov. That was fine although they never see you on time for your appointment. I then visited them when one of her puppies just born had an issue and ended up not making it, which again was ok in Dec. Then I setup an appointment to bring in her 7 puppies for their physical checkup to provide to the new owners. I made it very clear they were not receiving vaccines/deworming and it was just for the health papers to be given to the new owners. I then asked how much it was going to be as I don't like to be blindsided. So the lady put me on hold and asked the doctor (I could hear her) and then she said he's going to give you a 25% breeder discount, so I said that's great, how much will it be. She then told me $224 total (which is more than other vets for a litter visit but they are close by so I figured it's ok). Needless to say I went to the appointment, they took all the puppies in 30 minutes after our appointment. They initially didn't even want to examine mom. That should have been the first clue that they are not professional or interested in the dog's health. Why wouldn't you want to ensure a mom who had babies is ok and has no issues? I then proceeded to tell them I wanted her looked at also and that she had a small lump on her back that got a little bigger. I made sure to let them know again that they are just here for well visits, no vaccines or deworming and I needed health certificates (exam sheet) even though I mentioned all this when I made the appt. They gave me puppies back, then took in mom, and then proceeded to tell me I owed them about $392. When I said what happened to the discount, they said what discount, we don't give breeder discounts unless you are getting vaccines and deworming. I said that's not what I was told and why was I given a price of $224 if I was supposed to be getting vaccines and deworming? The doctor then came out and was very nasty and said you're wasting an hour of my time and I never told you that and we don't do that. I told him why would I make this up? I told them to go back and look at the file as the woman who made the appointment said she was noting that. After arguing for 15 minutes and them playing the blame game of it wasn't me, oh she told you that because she thought it was 6 puppies coz one died. I was like no way, I made it very clear how many puppies I was bringing in and if anything I owed them for the mom as well. Then they tried to tell me we're not charging you to give you the health exam sheet which was literally copier paper with their letter head that they wrote on.They clearly were going back on their word and penalizing me coz they couldn't make extra money on vaccines and deworming. In the end I settled for them taking one puppy off the price but they lost a breeder customer forever. They don't really care about the wellness of your pets here. They care more about your money and do not honor the prices they tell you. I will never visit them again. read more

I have been bringing my animals to see Dr. Boulos for the past 16 years. He is always so accommodating and patient and makes sure to explain everything to us so we feel better about what's wrong. He's gentle and friendly with our animals and does a great job taking care of their needs. We can always get in to see him when needed and Andrea is always friendly and helpful. The guy's not friendly, somewhat shady and more worried about his shitty little office than the safety of the pet he's examining - his business hours are very narrow, so he lumps all appointments within a couple of hours and runs them as a fry cook at the drive-through, while people and their pets wait in a small waiting room consisting of 6 chairs placed 1 ft. away from a counter. The receptionist was courteous albeit very busy, but the clinic is just too small and cluttered. Check with Sayrebrook Veterinary Hospital instead, they're good and professional. read more

He is an absolutely amazing veterinarian who puts his heart into his work, he took my dog into emergency surgery last minute and waited for me to get there 10 minutes after closing. Had he not performed the surgery on her that night I would have lost her. I could not be anymore grateful, he saved my pups life. I've been coming here for years now and he's just great all around. I would recommend him to anyone, he's reasonable too. The world needs more people like him in it. read more
